Probably because this hits much closer to home… Students, like myself, who are continuing little by little by little to pay for college classes one at a time are now getting to pay for someone else's college loan that we didn't sign for or benefit from. If you're responsible enough to sign your name on the dotted line, borrow the money, and agree to pay it back, then you should be held accountable and pay it back or stay in debt and ruin your credit and deal with bill collectors and court hearings. You should not be able to have your debt reassigned to innocent bystanders who did not sign for your loan and did not benefit financially or educationally from it. I work, save money, and pay for each class one at a time on my own while supporting a family. I don't have any desire whatsoever to pay someone else's bad debt. Besides, I have children and grandchildren I would rather help through college than some irresponsible debtor. Forgiveness implies the debt is wiped away. This is not forgiveness. This is nothing short of reassignment of an individual persons bad debt to innocent tax payers and it should be illegal. Far be it for the Biden administration to tell the truth straight up. They really think they're slick. They view the public as gullible and naive. Don't they sound so sweet to forgive student loans? They are the most deceptive ever...it's beyond disgusting. It is crystal clear they think general public has low intelligence. It's insulting really. I hope this helps explain why people are so up in arms.

Yikes. Terrible take. I never needed to take out student loans. But I'm so happy for the people who got theirs forgiven. Especially those who use their degree to help strengthen the community. I'm happy for my taxes to help people in the community be able to afford their education

Ya know, there’s a world where I would agree that, if you take them out, you should pay them. In general I agree with this.
However, how many… TRILLIONS in the last four years have been printed out of thin air and blown away to people who actively hate that your or I breathe because we live on this zone of dirt and they live on that zone of dirt. Yeah, we could use some of that coming back to us. In theory, this will be as small as someone having enough money to not be worried about groceries this month, to some people making rent without selling their soul. Our government spending being spent on anyone, but the people who actually give money into it, is the real problem.
That said, anyone who’s ever tried to buy me off, immediately turns me away from what they want..

I hate to say this but the student loan payoff stuff started way before Biden it started when Bush was in office. My student loans just got forgiven I paid on them for 10 years I paid what I borrowed in all reality cuz it was based on my income I'm a social worker with the VA and because it's a non-profit I was allowed to make income driven payments for 10 years and get it forgiven for the rest which was basically all interest. I pay taxes so I guess I'm still paying on my student loans as well.

Hahah yes it’s a horrible mess. However I do consider that fact that many people who paid off student debt are from a different generation and the costs of things have changed. In Canada 15 years ago you could buy a nice house in a safe area for $250,000. Today The average home price in Canada is 1 Million Dollars even in low income- class areas. So there does need to be some type of balance made because the average wage here is $69,000 which is not a good wage to buy a Million dollar home. So in order to make sure everyone has the ability to start out in life at fair and equal place, I think making post secondary education free makes a lot of sense. If the government wants people trained in all areas of the economy then we need education. 15 years ago student loans were not as expensive and neither was housing, or the cost of living.

I have been starting to listen to you guys and to enjoy your advice, but this video is such a turn off. A society is as strong as the weakest and the mentality that we shouldn’t be helping each other is horrendous. Sad times we live in. My family’s student loans were paid off before all this and I’m so happy others are being helped. I’m sorry you all feel this way and are spreading this mentality.

That was not student loan forgiveness! That’s just forcing Americans to pay off student loans that they didn’t sign for or agree to pay. It’s actually reassignment of Debt to tax payers. I am a student who pays for my education… I guess maybe I should go get a student loan so that I can be forgiven too! Believe you me I will actually use it towards my education
