My favorite jump scare is in Jaws. It's earned and my ears don't get blown out with a musical sting.

The moment I saw that cabin I'd leave so fast I'd probably survive. However, if I was enticed with the promise of "adult tango" I'd fall into that trope so quick that I'd be the first to die.
Hindsight is one thing, but we do dumb stuff all the time so the characters action aren't as far-fetched as we think they're

The thing I like most about this movie is that the "authorities" brought the end upon themselves by casting the "teens" wrongly. If they had paid more attention to them instead of trying to mold them, everything would have ended well (for them).

Not only was the horror fan girl wrong about there being an it girl and guy surviving to the end, but she didn't believe the sacrifice was something that the characters were doing for an actual important reason. The movie got the "professional movie watcher" as she called herself. And that is why its so great.
It's ending also doesn't allow for a sequel and that's fantastic considering how most horror works. They don't need anything else to it, not even prequels. It works as it is.
It's not a sattire or parody. It a horror comedy. A small part of the horror genre, but horror nonetheless.
So called horror experts (and not just this one) missing all the obvious clues and parody and not realizing they are making fun of horror movie tropes, is my most favorite thing about reactions to this movie.
This movie is a 💎 like all the monsters in this movie. Good reaction to this movie.
The only thing I don't like about this movie is that there can't be a sequel. I would have loved to experienced more of this universe, and mythology. They could've at least killed the teens in the first film - the virgin survives - but not finding out what was going on other than maybe realizing they were being watched on cameras. In the second film they could've went international and shown us a different site in another part of the world. In the 3rd film they could've done what they did here.

Fun fact : La scène du merman était pas senser pisser le sang demême. C'est le tuyaux pour le faux-sang qu'a fucker pis y ça sortir beaucoup plus que prévu en genre de jet au lieu d'être comme toute d'un stream... Ils ont gardé la scène tel quel dans le film parce que ça faisait plus dégueulasse aha

Loved that movie! But recently I watched a reaction to it, and it felt so dated (but not AS dated as the original version, which I've never seen... I'm just not a fan of most movies that came out prior to the 1960sl. Not to mention the FX were so bad. But still a great, fun movie.
