You´re completely right. It also helps a lot if the rest of the players shits their pants when injuring there team mates. Not the first time Sweden has a collective mental breakdown when things starts to be rough. Doesn´t excuse the filthy yanks´ behavior though.
US played better and deserved the win but what were those refs?! They were awful? The US got away with so much.

I checked the feed of the game and it was going like penalty usa, penalty usa, penalty usa, penalty sweden, penalty sweden, penalty sweden, penalty usa, penalty usa, penalty swede, penalty usa and so on :D Still somehow no high sticking penalty of what happened to Raymond. Should have been 2+2mins. Accident or not u are responsible of ur own stick.
I'm thinking it was a follow through after playing the puck. He took a swipe at puck, just touched it and his follow through caught Raymond. At least the in arena camera angle seemed to show that.

one thing im confused about is the high stick on raymond, the ref had the his arm up but there was no penalty?
Nej, shouldn't have been according to the rules, but the dives (was it three in one period?) from the Americans in the first should be the talking point.

Sweden was not the same after we lost Sandin, and now for the entire tournament… he was one of our most valuable players so now we have change our entire game. I felt like that hit was intetional and eyssimont should get banned from the rest of the tournament. We also lost petersson due to that ankel injury… i had hope for sweden but now i don’t know if we can adjust this.

ARGH the ONE game I wanted to see and I had to miss it for a new job.
this is my favorite matchup...not Canada Russia or even Canada USA.... USA playing Sweden forces them out of the "Scandinavian trap D hockey" and makes their offence engage hard. these two teams- two of the best jerseys in all of sports too

Great game, Sweden! Sadly, the saltiness re: calls takes a bit of the shine off of the win. Anyone who watched the game saw the boys in the blue jerseys got their share of incidental sticks to the face themselves: it sure as hell wasn't a one way thing. The call on the hit to Sandin was the right one, though.
It's more about the US diving incidents. Nobody that understands the rules cares about the high-sticks.

I'm proud over Swedish C-grade team, very well done, an amzing comeback.. The referees should get fired and the rule about baseballing the opponent in the face is ok if its under certain conditions should be overlooked.

Well, good game tbh. But the referees💀 i’m not blaming on usa but USA had the ref ALMOST all the time. And USA played very very ugly, injured our best defender. gg usa. Sweden vs referees🙁
USA surprisingly strong so far. But they have a Legendary track record of losing quarter finals and 1/2 finals. They got to win sometime though.
Ye, and Sweden only had 10 NHL players, with the rest in SHL or Swiss National League.

Historically it hasnt really mattered which players USA had, they still lost the crucial games 90% of time. Sweden has a different track record with 45 world championship medals and 10 olympic medals. USA on the other hand has not won a world championship since 1960 and olympic gold since 1980.

This was a great match! Usa's team played well and was in the lead for most of the game but Sweden didnt give up and made one hell of a comeback! Both teams played some really good hockey but Usa got that goal in OT. Oher than that i have to say im not impressed with some of the refs calls in this game.
The rule that it is allowed to stick someone in the face if it is the follow through of a shot is atrocious. Loses a tooth, no penalty.

Also, that knee is disgusting.
USA should stick to playing hockey, which, admittedly, they are good at. Sweden got robbed in the penalty department though.

Seriously? Good refereeing throughout the tournament? I haven't seen third of the matches yet (including many the comments section complaining about, like CAN-SUI or CAN-CZE), but I lost in count how many bad refereeing have changed the results.

A hard fought game where Team USA never gave up. Congratulations guys!
One thing I've been bothered with regarding Sweden is every tournament it's a different Sweden while main competitors like Finland, Czech Republic, USA and Canada always no matter the roster bring more or the same synonumous strengths. Sweden enters without ideas (clean slate) and leaves still without an identity of how we play, like what was the good things we keep doing got better at and what issues did we improve on? Heck, even going into each game you don't know what Sweden will show up. It's like our whole deal is built on feel. We just have to see what strenghts and weaknesses we develop as we go. Never sticking to anything. It is what it is and becomes what it becomes. Against nations with ideas, gameplans, core philosophy no matter the roster or coach, keep "this" up and let's work on minimizing "these" issues each game. It's really frustrating. Unpredictable but in a bad way while mentioned competitors are predictable but so good at the expected that it doesn't really matter.

Though the US doesn't have a bunch of big names on their roster, it seems quite a few have gone through the National Development program, so I could see the philosophy playing out in this game I watched. I don't know much about sweden's approach or any other nation for that matter.

@@tyleremmetts5937 Don't be childish, please. It was terrible work by the refs but it doesn't take away that the US was way better otherwise. I think it was good that the Swedens captains sorted it out in the after-second intermission with the refs and the US captains. It was better in the third.
