Would like to make a correction. The SMSL HO200 did NOT dethrone Pre90. The best use of either pre-amp will depened on your speaker. The Pre90 Has more bass/midd bass and slam. The SMSL is more clear at the expense of some slam. - Hudba

I really like Topping, have an amp and DAC from them already. there is a 200 dollar difference to SMSL preamp. The specs look very similar, both are off the charts in my oppinion, if on a budget, would you say the SMSL gives you almost the same perfomance as the Topping?

Amazing amps driving my Dunlavy’s !

I have gone through a couple of upgrades from the original Starkrimson Stereo Ultra Power Amplifier (reviewed here)to the Dual Mono Starkrimson® Stereo Ultra 2.0 driving my ELAC Vela 409s. The upgrades were even further refinements in the details and clarity. I have gotten many compliments on the sound being close to the artists intent. It is ready to fight the big boy amps.
Aren't the mono blocks less expensive than the Stereo Ultra Amp though? What upgrades did you do to the mono blocks and what pre amp and dac are you using?? 🙏
Yeah, his names are confusing. He has little mono amps with an outboard power supply,. The one I have is essentially a Starkrimson® Stereo Ultra 2.0 in one case but with individual power supplies to each channel so the crosstalk is almost nonexistant. I also have the max caps.@@Gpray75

End game amp performance, it should be a class outside of class D. 95 % efficiency means little to no heat and you can leave it on without worrying about saving energy. Kind of like listening to the thx 789 when it first came out, it broke all records. Pitch black high dynamics and no noise no matter how you crank it. Not for audioscience fools that let their treadmill measurement tools do the hearing for them. For golden ear youths that has yet to lose their hearing to this hobby. Singxer sa1 is a very good preamp and headphone amp synergy to experience what maximum class A detail is about with optional cap bypass enhancement. Gan just enhances more of what makes it sublime.
You can now buy 2 mono units to be close to the speakers and using today's very low capacitance and inductance cables are more than capable to keep the fidelity over longer distances.
Way out of my budget
These are NOT class D!! They are as hard to create as VFETs were. Their cost is very very high. Never consider them as class D as Orchard states. They also use Audio Note big caps which are the best in the world by far.
