His guys joke was on another level so high that the staff couldn’t understand ‘What makes me tick? I’m not a clock but that is.’
😂 I didn't even notice that
They definitely understood
What is it
I'd say it wasn't so much a joke as a failure to understand the figurative expression 'What makes you tick'. Which is very common with people on the Autism spectrum. That's why his mother knew to rephrase it in a more literal way for him. He may well have added some humour to this failure to understand as well though.
He's definitely the type of positive friend I needed in school
He's a good friend, but would he be a good neighbour...
He would be great friend with Christopher
Definitely
Yesss

I have autism and I love how Ryan isn’t treated as a pet unlike my experiences at high school. I hope he’s doing okay now :)
same. I got treated really badly at my school, refused to give me 1:1 support because my paperwork didn't come through for ages and it wasn't 'justified'. I'm so pleased Ryan got the support he needed though, and his teachers believed in him
I'm sorry you went through that
I am autistic too

I also have Asperger's Syndrome and I totally feel for Ryan. I think he's adjusted incredibly well and denfinely better then I could.
Me too.
The best thing that every happened to me was my diagnosis
@@jackmillen Same.
@ABU Before I was diagnosed my life was full of questions and confusion. I had no idea why I stuttered, or why I was "weird", why I was different to everyone else. The day I got my diagnosis was the day all those question were answered. I now had access to specialists who understood what I'm was going through and know what to suggest.
My diagnosis was the first step in finding who I was!
@Fredie Barnes if you don't mind me asking what is Asperger? Is it like autism
He's literally a national treasure

I really think Aspergers and Autism should be taught more in schools, I feel like my little brother is often misunderstood because he has Aspergers, but he is honestly one of the smartest people I know (especially when it comes to computers🤣). I really hope he has the same experience in high school as this guy!!
Agreed
As an autistic individual I wish I could like ur comment a thousand times because I agree. There’s so much stigma against the Autistic community that by having it taught in school it would be a step in the right direction
I have autism and I can’t go to a “normal” school because I get so stressed and angered to a point where I become violet then I’m the one to blame when it was people purposefully getting to that point of stress anxiety anger fear ect.
And I’ve stopped going to special needs school because I’m not learning anything and all it does is give me anxiety because there’s still to many people at least they’re nice this time. But there’s no point if I just get anxious.
My mum is now in the process of trying to get my careers to find a private tutor so I don’t go jobless... they won’t listen.
My brother might have it but he’s just 3 and we’re very worried about when he goes to school
I have autism too and I feel that I related to him over adjusting to new places and getting to know people and then later on being known as one of the smartest kids at school with computers or history and getting almost getting a mark.
I have Aspergers ,anxiety and a tic disorder. People with Aspergers are some of the most loving people ever so don’t be frightened by our anxious behaviour because when we get to know you,you won’t regret it 😊
How could you hate someone like this he’s the most pure person
This guy is so wholesome omg yes
I have Aspergers and struggled at school, I got bullied a lot and my school refused to give me extra support because there was a long delay in getting my confirmed diagnosis papers and my school said the support wasn't justified despite a letter from my GP saying that I had it, my paperwork was just delayed. I'm so glad Ryan got the support he needed though.
Things are better now that I'm at university though, once you're in a place where you are properly supported it makes all the difference.
Hello, do you mind me asking what it is? Sorry I have never came across before.
@@DaunShavies what, Aspergers?
It's on the autism spectrum, it means I think and see the world in a different way and I find it difficult to interact with other people and pick up on social cues, and I get overstimulated by things like light, noise, touch, taste, smell a lot (certain noises/textures/smells/tastes make me very anxious and I don't do well with bright lights)
@@rayaeparker8973 Oh ok, well it must be hard but your dealing with it, keep on going. Thank you.
I have to say your comment is very inspiring! Although you had a tough time at school i’m so glad you’re doing better at university, my nephew has Aspergers and I’m worried about him being bullied next year when he goes into high school, kids are cruel and he gets triggered by loud noises too, especially the hand dryers in the toilets. Hopefully things won’t be bad like they were for you. I love hearing how people overcome bad experiences.
At school is different then being at home. Some kids with different abilities don’t want to go to school because it can be over whelming and the parents think that’s the best for them and they think they will get bullied because there different to everyone else. It takes time to learn. To the people who think it’s ok to make fun of someone grow up and keep it to your self because one day it can come back to you and your upsetting someone and you don’t realise it .
Ryan is a fantastic lad whom anybody would be certainly lucky to have as friend
I'm here just now getting diagnosed with ASD at age 22. It can be hard for the less obvious girls as we don't get noticed as much. It would have been nice to have so much more support through school.
I got diagnosed at 14 and i was only put forward to get checked after a 2 week hospital stay even tho since i was 7 many other professionals said i had “signs” like ugh 🤦🏻♀️ if only neurotypicals realised what they think autism “is” is actually only a snippet of what the spectrum looks like and its very different for girls. Many People think autism is being loud and constantly being disruptive (I’ve noticed this a lot) sadly
I got diagnosed with asd at 26
I feel sorry for him but also happy that hes settleling in
I was diagnosed with Asperger’s at 7 years old but I’m lucky enough to be relatively normal. I had a support assistant throughout high school and never told anyone at high school about my diagnosis.

Half way during my high school career we got a new principal, and he "removed" all the special needs kids from our school to improve image. All of us where outraged(students), but couldn't do much since he switched the budget to improve on outer appearance. It's amazing to see how confident this kid is in a public school, I hope he has an amazing future ahead of him.

My ASD literally made school far too difficult so I became homeschooled, I’m happy that Ryan managed to adjust :)
@@forestfaint9269 it was a regular mainstream school but they didn’t acknowledge the fact that at that time I was going through my diagnosis and said they wouldn’t give me the support I needed until I had my diagnosis. @@fusemore1059 Switzerland is actually the top country in the world but whatever
@@fusemore1059 I don't agree with the person you originally replied to.. but american universities are mainly popular in america-targeted polls which are biased because they are determined via simple "repuation surveys" and SAT scores which have been manipulated in the past and are rarely gathered by organisations outside of the US.. Hundreds of univesities refuse to take part in such polls because of how irrelevant they are. How about Zurich? Do you know any non US universities? What about Cambridge and Oxford?
@@_banja of course I know about other non American universities. However, it would be nothing short of cognitive dissidence to pretend that American universities are not seen as most desirable to a plethora of other students in other countries. For the person I was replying to to pretend as if Americans are so dumb when we are the only country in the world that can be labeled as a superpower is absurd. As such, what I said still stands. We are in fact more powerful and technologically advanced than the UK. That is a fact. Be proud of where you come from but lets not be delusional. She is proud to be British and I am very proud to be American.
@@hollyvictoria2658 that's a damn lie. I literally said that the US is the most powerful and that is a fact honey. The U.S is the only country in the world that is a superpower.
