It's insane that out of all the people in the world that was able to interview Paul, Bob Mortimer is the one of them. It's not bad, just incredibly surreal.
Down to earth Northerner, who's respectful but not in awe - pretty good choice I think!
I think the fact that Bob and McCartney seem to be very much into viewing the world from a surreal perspective seems to be the key. Bob and Vic Reeves humour was pretty daft , but also very surreal . The Beatles were brilliant musically, but they were also very funny. It’s probably a bit of a Merseyside / North East thing. Glasgow and Scottish comedians like Billy Connelly and Danny Boyle are similar .
It's "Sir Paul" (William) who is being interviewed here.
Love that it’s Paul being interviewed by Bob Mortimer. Two of my favourites.
Quién es Bob Mortimer? 😮
Remarkable that after all these years the public remains utterly insatiable when it comes to any detail about the Beatles. And amazingly, Mr. McCartney doesn't seem to mind answering the same old questions endlessly--yet, he does so thoughtfully and respectfully. He's an exceptional person on so many levels.
Technically it’s Sir McCartney. The Mr. no longer exists, fyi.
I agree entirely (about thoughtful answers to the same old questions) and have noticed this myself.
When Paul and Ringo are gone,it will be sad.But the music is so good,it will continue to be discovered, annualised, played and enjoyed. Like all Great writers, the songs will live on.🇬🇧💷🎼📺
Nothing will ever compare to the magic of Lennon/McCartney
Both song you mentioned had nothing to do with Mccartney. He played bass on both of them but George wrote them by himself

That's for dam SURE never happen again in all of our time
Don’t forget George, that man was also genius!! Guitar parts and songs. Any one of those guys could’ve been huge by themselves, how they ended up in one band together is beyond incredible, and will never ever happen again
@@nickpaz9113 He was the weak link. Without the Beatles he couldn't have even gotten into a professional band.
@@nickpaz9113 Having George Martin didn't hurt either
Always enjoy a Paul McCartney interview. He's never aloof, vague, or rude. Always gives honest insights.
I've seen so many, and I do hear some of the same stories over-again, where he has a stock answer, however most interviews contain something new because he listens to the question, thinks, and then gives an informative reply.
He has his image and answers well honed , down to a tee .
I'm 66, and I've been listening to the Beatles for 60 years. They have been there all my life!
In June I'll be 66 and I'm right with you. I remember watching them land in NY and later being on the Ed Sullivan show, And to this day I still enjoy listening to them as much as ever.
I’m the same age and I feel exactly the same, I remember as a young child growing up and everyone was talking about about them, there were always on the TV,news etc it was really exciting. I remember my older brother taking me to see the films HDN & Help I loved them. From the late mid sixties them and music went off my radar a bit but b I reconnected with them in the early seventies with the Red Album and boy I haven’t looked back since collecting Beatles and solo work so many wonderful hours spent listening to their music, films and books. Not sure what life would be like if they hadn’t of existed 😮
I love these interviews. They give us a window into Paul's world back then! There's nothing like the music of McCartney & Lennon! ❤️
You mean Lennon and McCartney.
@@herbieflowers4461It's like Curtis and Moore in "The Persuaders".

Hearing him talk about this magical adventure of the Beatles' coexistence is more than just privilege. Thanks! 💖🎼🎵🎶👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Absolutely love you Paul and your music ❤️
Good for you Bob, bet you absolutely loved this.
That was the magic of McCartney and Lennon. 😊 Thank you for all those wonder lyrics!✌️💜
IT'S LENNON and MAcartney That's how it was
Look, you aren't telling me something I don't already know. I intentionally wrote it that way. I love John very much and I love Paul, too. I was just changing it up that day. End of story
That’s Lennon&McCartney. Lol
@@StephanieJeanne it’s cool Stephanie. Peace and love.
@@stella3265 That's the way it was. Lennon's choice.
I love when you talk about john and were you and John going to write together again in 1981? I heard in a video that you were in 1980 but things got changed so decided in 1981. I know NOW AND THEN was written for you. And when he said that If we started again he knew he would love you. Started again meant you were to start writing again together. It makes me even madder how a man could take john from us. And George should never had left us either.
We all love you Paul ❤
Exactly who is “ we all” ?
@@alexandradane3672 Anybody with heart and an appreciation for the artistry displayed by Paul be it within the Beatles or since then.
They had some special kind of magic between them, didn't they?? What a gift to part of a collaboration that was that easy and enjoyable. The energy sure aligned for those two to be together and the rest of the world got to watch, listen. and enjoy it!
Might be the only time in history that Bob Mortimer has been in a room and been only my 2nd favourite person in that room.
Paul and John were two better halves of one soul in a competitive musical society. Each one was a genius who contributed excellent ideas to the other. 💓💗💓💗🙏🙏🙏😊😊
Life has been better with their music in it.
You think !!
There can be only ONE GOAT,and these boys are above all.
Legends is too small a word,so most iconic will have to do.
You nailed it in one sentence. 1:52
Doesn't get any better than Paul and John writing songs. I cherish my Beatles Complete book, which is accurate and always a source of inspiration.
The og set they dropped live in circa 1964 was HUGE!
Sadly, this man talking about John Lennon is not Paul McCartney.

I consider the friendship of these four boys to be a milestone in band work, and an example to several generations that are coming... The secret of longevity lies in the love for what you do, in the friendship between the partners
You can see the absolute respect Paul had for John in the documentary Get Back
I met Paul in Wallasey Town Hall at a wedding. He gave me the bums rush as soon as I approached him!

Just want to take the opportunity to thank you, Paul, for everything and, especially, most recently, YOUR Now and then! It brought out so many emotions...as most of your music does.
And, honestly, you play the music...guitars, bass, piano...
Sorry to burst your bubble but NOW and THEN is JOHNS song that PAUL was dam lucky to add his small part. Thanks Johnny. You got the last Beatles song put out as you started the Beatles and ended it with NOW AND THEN. Eat your heart out MAcartney

Lennon McCartney song writers they are magic
I love you Paul❤❤❤
Just purchased some McCartney III 3x3's. In 1964, I was 13. I've never been the same since. I immediately got a guitar and have been playing, singing and writing for 60 years.
You, John, George & Ringo deserve all the credit for igniting my passion for music.
Love you, Man.
I thank God most every day of my life that I grew up with the Beatles. They wrote, recorded and performed some of the greatest music in human history. Paul is a world treasure.
I can't put in words how much I love this guy. Not only his incredible musical talent (Beatles, Wings, solo) but the kindness, the humor and unpretentiousness ❤ He has been my "musical therapist" since I "discovered" the Beatles as a child 😊 (I was born in 1975 - kind of late but early enough). His interviews are always "feel good videos"!
P.S. listening to Jenny Wren in the background made me smile - was listening this song today on my way to work
I was 9 when Love Me Do dropped and turned the world from black and white to vivid colour and changed everything.
Been a fanatic ever since, they are in my blood, along with many millions of us.
They were the best of times.
We love you so much
Paul you're a legend ❤
Best musical partnership ever. Amazing music & lyrics from both ❤
Speaking of Nowhere Man... I recently watched the film Nowhere Boy, which portrays John's youth in mid 50's before founding The Quarrymen. Shows much of the drama he went through with his aunt and his mom. I just wanted to recommend this movie, because I really liked it. The actors playing John and Paul look on point, too.
It's an incredible film. The actors were indeed spot on, esp the one playing John. Man, he nailed it! Imho
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie & really wasn't expecting it to be any good, but it sure was!!!!
Get Back was a much better film because it nailed John and Paul as they really were with no Hollywood fakeness
Good point. This documentary made me a big fan of The Beatles to begin with.@@breathspray
Paul didn't like the actor they choose to play him, because he was too short.
He said that he and John were of the same height.
Interviewers still get tongue tied when talking to a Beatle. Amazing.
Dear Paul McCartney❤
Please come to Japan too🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
Long Life Sir Paul McCartney
Nowhere Man and Paperback Writer were good 'as is'. Two of my favorites! 👍
Great video with the wonderful song Jenny Wren in the background ❤️
Sir Paul McCartney is one very special Legend! I'm sure he gets emotional sometimes inside when talking about John. The magic song writing they did together was amazing! R.I.P John Lennon you'll never be forgotten.
all of the Beatles were good to listen too when being interviewed they were fun to hear I just think Paul is great.
Living legend and the funniest fella in the world! What more could you ask for?🫡
Always love to hear Paul talk about the songwriting process that he and John shared
In the love and joy they felt in being together, and all this feeling was reflected in their songs, they had fun doing what they loved, perhaps they didn't even think about profit, because that was already the joy
Sir Paul, I saw the Get Back documentary. It's quite obvious by how hard you work and what it has produced that you're the greatest Beatle. An honor to have shared the planet with you :).
Yer the best, Paul

Fantastic one!
The most miraculous come together of two diametrically opposite temperaments and personalities having the exact same sensibilities (at least, musically), each the ultimate muse and soundboard for the other. In every way (songwriting then performing) there was nor is any equal to Lennon/McCartney, and second's not even close.
It positively hurts the beauty and sensitivity of this and other moments. Just a joy to hear him talk.
the fab four will still be celebrated in a thousand years
Good interview. Looks like it would be an interesting book as well 👍
Those meetings between two friends in a room were one of the best things in the 20th century.
It’s nice with even songs either one wrote completely, the other would give his stamp of approval. That’s respect and generosity between the two of them. How good it was to have both of them on the case.

All the Cosmic Tumblers fell into place when John & Paul started writing together.
I must say the Jagger/Richards, Taupin/John and other collaborations made the
Rock 'n Roll renaissance a special time in music history.
I think Taupin and John were a bit different though...didn't Taupin write the lyrics and John the music (or vice versa)? McCartney and Lennon did both.
Paul is a brilliant song writer. February 7, 1964 the Beatles came to America. Thanks Paul .
It's amazing the collaboration between the two geniuses it's a
Gift from god a real blessing to entertain

Brilliant Bob 👏 get your own chat show 👏 2 down to earth people that's what we all need in this horrible world we live in 😢
Currently reading The Lyrics book. Fascinating. He wrote World Without Love, when he was 16. He nearly threw it away because he didn't consider it good enough for the Beatles. Then he gave it to Peter Asher for Peter and Gordon - and it became a worldwide number one as well as a 60s standard.
Fancy writing that when you're 16! Some people almost have too much talent - can we have a little bit, please Paul?
The moment I really became a hard core Beatles fan was when I was at a bookstore flipping thru Beatle related books, and found a book that had all their lyrics from many albums. Reading thru the lyrics, I could see how brilliant some of these lyrics were just on their own, as poetry. I was inspired to buy every Beatle album and study how the lyrics meshed with the music.
Thanks Paul for all this years with your music
Fifty years ago I first picked up a guitar, because of the Beatles and still play most days now. Thank you Paul, John, George, and Ringo for my life long passion.
The world owes you a massive debt of thanks.
Good to hear him say that, because I have always thought that John's "Nowhere Man" was one of the best songs by the Beatles.
Is this a recent interview. I'd love to see the whole thing, being obviously a big Beatles fan, but also a Vic and Bob fan. Bob Mortimer, as well as being very funny, has such a down to earth personality, it will be nice hearing him chat with the legend that is Macca.
Together, pure genius. Solo, Lennon much deeper ,gut wrenching, truthful and moving .In MY opinion.
Always the diplomatic one !
In our troubled times, it's heartening to think that 2 souls were brought together through destiny to create magical songs that are there for all to enjoy always. The Universe does indeed move in mysterious ways. xx
I would have loved to be a fly on the wall during Lennon/McCartney writing sessions. There is nothing like the collaborative writing process.
