Graphene: Made in Manchester

- Graphene is the world's thinnest material.
The two dimensional material was first isolated by Professor Andre Geim and Professor Kostya Novoselov at The University of Manchester. Graphene is the thinnest material known and yet also one of the strongest. It conducts electricity as efficiently as copper and outperforms all other materials as a conductor of heat. Graphene is almost completely transparent, yet so dense that even the smallest atom helium cannot pass through it.
The uses of graphene are limitless and because of its multi-functional properties, graphene can be used in thousands of different applications.
Sporting goods, technology and motor vehicles are just a few of the applications that can be improved with graphene. The constant research being done everyday is quickly proving that graphene is truly the material of the future.

Also worthwhile to point out it's not just this particular material itself, but what studying it is revealing about the existence of all sorts of other "2D" materials and indeed basic insights into how many of the materials we think we knew actually behave on their surfaces and at their boundaries.
Manchester, lalala. Beautifully shot and I love the very slick graphics
such a great video - brilliantly made
James, that was hysterical!!! Good one and couldn't agree more.
Superb video, visually stunning, the motion graphics really complement the style, is a shame the background bed music is fighting with the talents voice, and the obvious overdubs stick out a bit, otherwise stunning.
Great video!
Beautiful video... got a tiny clip of it on the BBC. Definitely a reason to sound about UK, the North and Manchester
Ok.thanx for the clarity
In so proud tool new from Manchester right now :-) ;-)
Top comment! I was thinking the same thing whilst watching this video clip, and you beat me to it! My question is...how can we change this situation? Is it even possible for the UK to change and catch up with others?
That said...fair play to ya Manchester. Nice one!
too dramatic
Who made this music?
This is the future.
the future? where is it 5 years on? it is commercialised in other parts of the world while plonkers are tossing about in Manchester
2019. I am sure graphene by now is in some of the products we use every day.
dam, he really knows how to get people excited about something....
does anyone know where i can see examples ????
Every use of graphene is quite confidential but there are a few products already on the market : Image result for graphene productswww.graphene-info.com
The following list will touch on thirteen different ways that graphene will revolutionise existing products.
Unbreakable Smartphones. ...
Wearable Technology. ...
Sporting Equipment. ...
Fast Charge Batteries. ...
Bye-bye Radioactive Waste. ...
Drinkable Salt Water. ...
Super Bullet-Proof. ...
Long-Lasting Industrial Lubricant.
What Manchester does today the world does tomorrow.
Amazing! wow my mind is blown.... Blow my mind a second time by telling me how much money I need to spend to buy a piece of Graphene the size and width of an A4 sheet of paper.....
i think the camera man was tied to a chair while he was filming this
Seems too dramatic to the uninitiated? - but graphene is about to change the world. Almost every product you can think of can benefit. I think actor's performance IS brilliant as it captures the current excitement and potential.
PS UofM Physics Dept was built on the site of my grandfather's Georgian 5 storey House. He (Joseph Pearson) was an electrical engineer - and his title on his business card was "Inventor". So many amazing things come from Manchester :-)
where do we go next ? I sense China has already stolen the IP and almost completed the establishment of a billion dollar industrial park. I'd like to see the establishment of a "NEW TRAFFORD PARK" - a £1B investment into manufacturing using #Graphene. Let's recapture the entrepreneurialism of the first Trafford Park - Occupying an area of 4.7 square miles (12 km2), Trafford Park was the first planned industrial estate in the world, and remains the largest in Europe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trafford_Park

Xi has already stolen some IP and is setting up $2Billion park in China. I 'd like to see a £1B investment into Trafford Park Manchester. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trafford_Park

If I was younger I'd set up a company with mission of making sure #Graphene does not pollute the world. ie how to make graphene products reuseable. What does "Biodegradeable" mean when the material is a single layer of carbon? How does swallowing it affect life forms?
Patents vary in quality and content.
In Manchester, it appears to be very dark.
really trying to sell us the University of Manchester
And it worked.
Dammnnnn the future looks awesomeeee. Why I'm just finding out about this??? Why is nobody talking about Graphene???
+Nelson Garcia Medina Graphene is still a very new material. Big companies still have big expensive machines that can't use graphene. Some small companies are already producing graphene but the production volume is low and the prices are very high. Commercial products are starting to appear, like smart packaging and graphene based ink and some sports equipment. Still nothing major as far as I know, but the posibilities are endless. Complicated things require complicated research and that takes a long time. So before we see any real futuristic alien-space technology, you might have to still wait for a couple of years.
+Nelson Garcia Medina Everybody is talking about Graphene that is involved with innovation!
They are... it's called COBYT 1 9
make a plane or spaceship of it, bulletproof vest
KTS WHERE ARE YOU???
That shit is in the Convid-19 Vackyscene!!
It seems to be in my spine which is now magnetic, its in the air, never-mind the juice. I didn't take the juice. Notice how he called it a black swan event.
Strectable and transparent screens...hmm I am already thinking what watch industry can come up with.
Tribalism on a nanotech scale.
the clue is in all the students who come from the east.
How can you get such caffeinated hype simply on tea? these little info videos with heavy graphics and breathless pitches, like a 10 yr old who can't find a bathroom
The future of the world, but first lets make sure their even is a future. 0 emissions.

People has to isolate graphene => Man made
all i could think of was how stupid the lighting was throughout that video.
A video for kids.
Great sales pitch - but hey - for what?? you guys need an idea /something tangible that will instantly capture the imagination (and investment dollars) or multi national companies, and especially those that never do risky venture capitalism.
How is it a man made thing. It sure it was discovered not made
voilins and beeps are starts right now future is coming...... very soon
If graphene is anywhere near as versatile and revolutionary as this guy is irritating and obnoxious, we're in for a hell of a ride.
A little less hype & Karl Marx (??) references, and a little more technical demos would have been nicer.
get all the news and updates GrapheneBiz"dot"com
Poles are better at making graphene....leading world technology....
discovered in manchester.......by russians.....
Graphene? Don't you mean the vaxxine?
