Maybe the Land Rover dealers out there should start watching this channel 😂
Maybe the Landrover dealers out there should start paying their customers for all these crap Throttle Bodies they put on their cars.
Safety tip..always use axel stands under a vehicle with raised hyraulic or air suspension. People have been killed when a sensor has been accidentaly disturbed and lowered the car onto them.I had a C5 that lowered when underneath but lucky i had axel stands in place to stop it 😮
Another one bites the exspnensive dust, great job as always Jimmy. 👍👍
Cant belive no-one has come up with a mod kit yet
At this stage Jimmy you could do this job blindfolded with one hand!!
Fair play!
Cause and effect, spot on 👍Great stuff
1 handed lad, you smash this game 👍👍👍👍
Another great video Jimmy, I've commented on another of your videos, I'm an EX JLR master tech, (2 years out the dealers) I'm not surprised the dealers struggle to diagnose these issues.
The Training is very restrictive (doesn't go into proper everyday diagnostics) and the diagnostic tools SDD, pathfinder and the new topix internet based systems that the techs use are designed by engineers and not diagnostic technicians.
A lot of the diagnostic is done by the tool and leads you through a process to get a fix.
When you ask for tech assistance, you have to email a session file and results from rest etc to JLR.
They never answer questions, if you fix the car whether it's a software update or replacing a part they never explain why.
As for TSB's these are not easy to find and JLR will remove some without notice.
I found the dealer's diagnostic procedure frustrating at times, glad I'm out now.
Aftermarket diagnostic tools are far easier to navigate, faster and easier to understand.
Like I said another great video Jimmy keep them coming 👍
Thanks Jimmy for all your great work,,,👌 have a great day
Thanks for listening
Another great tutorial Jimmy I'm shocked at the price of the new throttle body considering it's plastic and also the fact the main agent could not fix it surely a revised metal throttle body or more sturdy one so it doesn't get effected by the accumulation of debris and heat from the EGR
Great video as always, keep em coming!
Great job again, Jimmy , top man 👌
So, as a DIY mechanic for servicing on these, over 3 years and 30,000 miles you're looking at:
£120 in fully sysnthetic oil (buy 20 litres or more at a time)
£150 in oil, fuel, air, cabin filters
£30 in brake fluid
£500 throttle body
Ouch. 😝
Always treat the cause not the symptom 👍
Been watching your videos Jimmy and this one got my interest. I have a Jag XF with the same engine, I just removed the same part as the seals on the throttle body were leaking causing a very intermittent restricted performance warning . Changed the seals myself and all seems well. My throttle body was much cleaner than the one you removed as well.
One other thing, i have had the egr mapped out, is that sufficient or does it need blanking ?
Keep up the good work, be good if other garages and mechanics were as genuine and knowledgable as yourself.
Well done Mr 😎
Great video, AGAIN!!!!
Thanks mate another great video.
No problem 👍
So basically nearly all DPF problems start upstream from the actual DPF?
Well I seen your video on the turbo actuator on mk6 golf tested it and wasn’t holding vacuum had it changed and much improved the power but still at high speeds going into limp mode , underboost and overboost fault code , switch good and vacuum lines good any ideas please?
There ia a couple companies on ebay that overhaul these throttles for about half the genuine cost, if you can do without haveing your car for a week
Is the EGR valve difficult to remove? Thinking that's likely to need a clean or it will be the next fault when it doesn't work properly???
Another good vidio Jimmy,I would like to try and repair one of those throttle bodies that you throw away.
They have to go back to dealer for surcharge
@@ORileysAutos So Landrover has a kit, FFS t gets even better.
I would think a simple shim on one side of the throttle body butterfly would save £500, have you ever tried to disassemble one? Great video, thank you.
If these throttle bodies have a can it be fixed without buying a new one because really expensive
What will cause under boost codes. Pipes are fine turbo is fine, ford Mondeo. Also threw a weird one the other day exhaust temp to high for regeneration haven't had it since. Any ideas mate
How much would it cost to do that job including part jimmy
Are these bodies available as a after market part?
The blocked dpf is a *symptom* of a fault elsewhere.
Jimmy, 2019 transit same code, same shit in the intake, does the throttle body fail on them too?
The throttle body seems to be a very common consumable part on JLR vehicles 🤣
There’s no fix either as a new one only lasts a couple of years at most
Fix is stop buying JLR garbage, They've been junk for decades.
You can buy a full washing machine for that price. Landrover is having a craic. It's just like filling it to a full tank at the pumps.
Can't the throttle body be cleaned?
Hi, I've seen you do a few of these now, but looking at the throttle body they look like they come apart, have you looked into taking them apart and cleaning them and freeing the throttle valve off? As a business this may not be an option due to come backs etc, but for the DIYer it might save a lot of money at £500 a pop it could be a saving for owners who have this problem....
I would try a dermal on the sticking part.
In previous videos he's mentioned that he's done this and it provides a fix that isn't reliably long lasting.
For a more dependable car, it's better to spend the £500 on a new throttle body every 30,000 miles or so.
With that EGR gunk being carcinogenic, it's not the sort of stuff I'd be wanting to expose myself to too often.
right, didn't spot that, note to self must pay more attention...@@lint8391
Can cut a damaged Dpf up so we can see it please jim
Does that butterfly close on ignition OFF ? To minimise rotation on shutting down?
Yes
@@timbo19751975 not into this stuff but as a passing thought if I had one I’d try a adjustment/ stop screw tapped into the plastic housing like the old fashioned carbs had for “ tick over” 🤔
Bet you can replace those throttle bodies in your sleep with the amount you’ve replaced! 😂
He probably has nightmares about them
Revenge of the derv slime
He can do it with one arm tied behind his back. Or holding his phone.😀
Are you still mixing the Launch fluid with water?
Yes
Those egr valves cause some mess
Have launch reached out yet about sponsorship
Not sponsorship but we talk here and there
Shocking they at landrover cant fix this problem and the fact they cost 500 nicker for some plastic is shocking,i presume with it being plastic is the main reason it cant be cleaned as with the heat its warped.👍
It's like the inkjet printers that sell for £35 with a set of replacement ink cartridges costing £40.
Interesting business model.
Where are you based Jimmy?
Biggleswade Bedfordshire
Would you recommend a catch can on the egr return pipe
Someone should make a metal throttle body
Come to wales you want to jimmy with this 20mph bullshit, there will be dpfs getting clogged everywhere now.
😂
Im sure there are still motorways and dual carriageways and 30mph still doesnt cut it for dpf regen...
@thindo yes I do know its more of joke, but the increase in mpg and emissions is going to create more soot and ash for the dpf.
Buy a bike you cannot get done for speeding on a bike.
@larkhill2119 rains like 2/3 days and nearest shops are like 11 miles away, fuck that.
Everything is made with cheap plastic no wonder it fails
£500 for some injection moulded plastic 😂
Yep, If your going to play you gotta pay
First view I love your content
Wrong
Why people buy 'Land Rover' is beyond me, when same sector competition Toyota, Mazda are far better and more reliable
😂
