Windows can't do DV properly though I believe. Only some' console titles work well in DV I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Right now i am using a LG C2 42", and i need another monitor, that needs to be DP since my GPU only have 1 hdmi port. So is this one worth it? is the DSC noticeable when compared to native?

I just got mine couple of days ago and I only use it for PS5. If you don’t mind 2 questions - how can I connect my speakers (3.5mm) I’ve already tried 3.5 to type c(ain’t working though) or do you suggest any cheap speakers which could work for this monitor for PS5 ? And to connect my Mac is any hdmi to type C works or do you suggest any particularly?
Something a ton of reviewers don’t do , give us alternatives that are similar in specs that they would prefer
I haven't tried enough monitors to recommend any directly. not an OLED but I think the gigabyte m32u is great. Will be checking out more in the future

One suggestion though - you might want to increase the volume of your videos because I watch CZcams on my laptop and with my laptop speakers being at max volume, your voice wasn't the loudest, to be honest...

My monitor came with those dreaded scuff marks from the bubble wrap. I used distilled water and a micro fiber cloth to get rid of most of the surface level dirt/residue, but there are hundreds of little pin-dot marks that do not come off. Luckily, you can't see them without the aid of a flashlight shined directly on it at an angle so it's pretty much a non-issue aside from the fact I know it's there lol
man I'd be pissed just knowing they're hiding there.. 😭

Great video ! I do have a question though, i do play sweaty competitive FPS (CS2, R6, Valorant etc.), i play on a 24inch 240 hz (Alienware, bought it 8 years ago). I am hesitating between the 2k 27inches oled 360hz and the 4k 32 inches 240hz ones. Do you think 32 inch is too much of a jump for these type of games ? I mean, it's pretty big though :D
It could be.. it depends on each one to consider it.. 27-28 is perfect spot, but 32 is maybe the perfect balance if you also play cinematic games
I'd probably go with 27. 32 is a big jump even from 27

This monitor is freaking awesome. I just finished my playthrough of Ratchet & Clank on PC and wow! The colours and image quality is unreal on this panel. No going back to backlit panels for me.

Great review, thanks! I do have a question however, at around 4:25 onwards you talk about this DSC thing, some "DLS downscaling" and how it impacts older games. I'm not very tech savvy and I do play older games most of the time, so can you please explain a bit more what those things do and why it matters that Alienware doesn't let you disable it?
DSC = display stream compression. DSC itself compresses the image so that it can run at higher refresh rates on Displayport 1.2 and its not noticable. NVIDIAs downscaling for older games lets you render the game in a resolution higher than 4K and then downscale it to 4K for a clearer image. For older games where you can already run at 4K with high frame rates this is a big advantage as you can upscale it past 4K and still have goofd framers. This monitor though does not allow you to use it.

i think its a hardware problem. This shouldn't be an issue with the ROG version but i'm not 100% sure
How is the curve? Is it too strong, and does it help with any glaring from your window?
glaring has surprisingly not been an issue. the curve really isn't as harsh as you'd think

Does it use standard VESA mount? Or is an adapter required? I’m waiting for mine to arrive and would like to mount both it and my current monitor to save some space
100x100 mount. Worked without any adapter on my arm. Just look up 100x100 monitor arm

I want to buy this model but untill they solve the problem with the foam therefore with the scratches i am waiting unfortunately... that would piss me off so much
Mine came with scratches, just got it yesterday. Had to use pledge extensively to take off the gross flem material left from that bubble protector but yes, scratches are on there all over. returning mine. it is a great monitor though but the DSC issues are frustrating and turning it off would be amazing.
Hi mate, sorry you had scratches. Are you in the UK ? I've been thinking about ordering one myself but this has put me off. The MSI screens are £300 more and not available until may.
I couldn't handle ordering an Alienware, waiting a few weeks to find it turning up with scratches on the screen....

I own one but for it to be my end game it will need to be a non curved 27" 4k QD Oled with 240hz. A plus would be with the new displayport standard for the 5000 series gpus.

I don't touch it and just use gsync. Haven't noticed any issues

Hey you briefly mentioned the RGB, but how are they controlled. Is it from the monitor control directly or is there some software from the pc.
There's a software but I believe you can in the OSD too

If you're into eSports, 32" feels like the max for seeing all corners of the screen. If not, LG C3 can be had for less with more screen real estate if you want more HDR shows angle. In general, 32" is a really good spot to be. I went with the C3 and it's perfect for everything but esports. There are days I wish I had gone for this, but also days that I don't!
Edit: Previous monitor was 32" LG GQ850-B, Great IPS.
I assume you're using the 42" C3? I agree esports aren't great past this size but singleplayer would look gorgeous on there
@@ColeCaccamise Yes, it's the 42" on a monitor arm with vesa mount. That's the tradeoff basically, I'm able to sit back with a controller and chill, or have stuff on in the background in a way that the 32" monitor doesn't do. It kind of just made me more aware that there isn't a one stop shop though. Like if money was no issue it would be smarter to get a 27" oled for gaming and a big tv for everything else, but I can't justify that atm.
edit: I thought the C3 wouldnt be bright enough because I'm next to a window but it does just fine and you dont get QD-Oled black raising (tradeoff is WOLED has worse color saturation).

I have the LG C3 for console and an alienware AW3423DWF for PC but, I believe nothing beats the LG C3

Wondering if it's the right move as an mmo player who lives online.. so many static ui elements to burn in.. I also dont crank up the brightness / hdr and its off when im not using it, not resting on my wallpaper.
Definitely more risky but you have 3 years youll be able to get a replacement
There is a recall for that cablemod adapter you currently have on, I suggest refunding it or just plain remove it before you run into melting issues.

how is it adjusting to the curve? I am on the fence specifically in 2D game like the new Prince of Persia The Lost Crown?? Are these type of games distorted at all?
I really don't notice it that much. I am used to it slightly from the curve my LG ultra wide has
i prefer the curve with it so large. at times i need to turn my head to see the hud but the curve helps with the size.
I had the samsung g7 27 inch with 1000r curve and that was way greater of a curve and even that became not noticeable after a bit of time so this will be nothing
how did you mount it to arm? I used to have the ultrawide and i think it came with an adapter. now i have the 32inch but no adapter

MSI is releasing 3 versions all using this same panel. The MEG version which I think will be released early Q2 2024 that does support DP 2.1, the MPG version which should be released by the end of this month and has DP 1.4, and lastly the MAG version which literally no one should buy because it doesn't support any software updates. The MPG version's msrp is $950 and the MAG version's msrp is $900. I'm guessing that the MEG version's price will be more in line with the other manufacturers that have an msrp of $1200-1300.
Just be careful with the cheaper MSI offering. No ability for end-user to update firmware.

Did you know it's not compatible with a Mac? I didn't. I just bought one, only to find out that it is not supported with iOS. Bummer. The monitor goes black every few minutes for a few seconds!
What are your console settings for this monitor? When hdr is on it looks washed on console
standard color profile and true black, have PS5 set to always on HDR. i don't find it to look washed out
I think you see it that way because the monitor non really glossy screen and ligths in that bedroom , less light would be better.

You might need to connect that directly from the pc im afraid. The monitor doesn't come with audio jack

Without even looking at the price tag i can say that it's nearly the most expensive monitor of it's segment😅
Im sending my back, the text clarity ist just very bad, its not sharp at all. The issue is not only the green and pink fringing, its general low clarity due to the subpixel layout. But the video and gaming looks amazing on it.
Okay. LG next year will bring OLED monitors with original RGB Subpixel layout. Seems to worth waiting for.
Your volume is a bit too low. I have to turn up the volume which is fine but as I move on to the next video from another channel it becomes too loud.

"Blacks not being inky" is definitely the number one dealbreaker for an OLED monitor, and the only reason why I'd ever get one. Why did you not expand more on this?

@@andrewmorris3479 Yeah exactly, black level of any OLED is supposed to be zero nits. That's exactly why his comment that sometimes the black is not completely black is so significant
@@LoganDark4357 High ambient light raises the black level of QD-OLED displays as they don’t have a polarizer. Every OLED display should be used in a dark room though.
@@LoganDark4357 I think he's referring to when there is light in the room shining on the monitor. Because there is lack of a polarizer it can raise the black level if there is a lot of light in the room. I own this, and I'm in a dark room and black level is 0.

These QD OLEDs are the best around for sure but not even remotely close to end-game potential. The Rec 2020 coverage is ~80% and the brightness drops off dramatically past a 10% window.

why cant we use DLDSR? or do you mean you cannot use DLDSR with more than 4k and then downscale to native resolution?
Say if you wanted an ultrawide resolution of 3840x1620 for example you cant set this custom res without tweaks. To get it to work you need another 4k monitor/tv and turn off the AW to set the custom res on the other monitor. After its applied, turn on the AW and you will now get the new Res and 240hz. Its cumbersome but its a workaround since we cant turn off DSC.
