    Today, I'm going to show you what it feels like to fly a Cessna 152 on the Microsoft Flight Simulator. This game will take you through a training phase, which is great for a beginner pilot. Also, I encourage you guys to build a flight simulator at home. One reason is to keep your muscle memory that you need in an actual cockpit.

    I used to spend so much time on MFS, starting with 98 on my birthday, and fading out after 2002. The days on the Microsoft game zone were amazing. Life happened and am now getting back into aviation. The advancements in the game and in general aviation while I was away are incredible.

    Hi there! I've really enjoyed your videos regarding flying, aircraft overviews, your build and the inspiration you gave me to go train for my VFR license! I was an FAA certified ATC tower operator from 1982-1986. Know the patterns, flight plans, paths, etc.
    Just never took time to learn fly! I'm going to now due to your inspiration! I thank you!

      We're talking about Mike. I've built my three EABs and flew them - last one for 13 years. My fastest was chump change to Mike's sling - I had a never exceed speed of 110mph. Mike's Sling is a Mover. The only Mover I've ever flown is the Piper Arrow. Cruise was around 148kts (that's about 170 mph.) Mostly cruised at around 150-155mph. I think Mike's Sling is faster than that - looks like it might be. But, then again, that fixed gear is a lot of drag.

    I have the Honeycomb Alpha yoke and it’s really good. Very accurate compared to the 172s I’ve flown.
    What I don’t like about MSFS2020 is how unrealistic the rudder involvement is. You can bank into a turn and don’t really need to use the pedals. The ball rarely moves and there is no left turning tendency.
    I have it set to “real” or whatever it’s called, but the rudder is incredibly unrealistic.
    What’s also cool about the Honeycomb is that it’s default setting is to allow for the left thumb stick to be used for moving your view around the cockpit, so you can see left, right, up and down.

    • @Fatonzzz
      @Fatonzzz Před rokem

      I wish coordinated flight in MSFS 2020 required rudder input. I mostly fly the Cessna 152/172, and it seems like besides taking off, you can completely ignore the rudder, and the ball is nearly always perfectly centered.

    It's nice you did not fall asleep. I still use Microsoft FS-X and prefer the flight models, Mooney M20M and Cessna 208B and based its flight parameters from online POH/AFM's. It's much faster than a 172 and makes DP's and Instrument Approaches more exciting.

    I’m a FS2020 user also, I use SmoothTrack, it tracks your head movement. So it’s easy to look at your instruments, out the window etc. Cheap to implement. I have nothing to do with the company, but it’s made my sim experience that much better. Highly recommended.

    Flying a Cessna 150/152 is like what you see in the Flight Sim. They are VERY control sensitive! The theory being that if you can successfully fly a 150/152, you'll be able to fly practically anything (with stationary wings).

    Hi Mojo, the one thing that I can say, you're not a simmer. Although, I do not have a pilot's license (even though I have had training) there are things I know about FS's All flight sticks have a hat switch where you can look around when flying. The other thing is when flying FS you don't have the resistance as you have in a real airplane so you control imputes have to be smooth and light. Sometimes going into your settings to get the controls to operate the way you need.
    Love your channels, but you might want to stay with airplanes.

But, the Experimental Amateur Built airplanes is the way to go. YOU build it -YOU maintain it - YOU fix it - YOU do the Annual Condition Inspection required by the FAA. Don't know if Mike built the 51% he was required ( very much doubt it), so may not be eligible to do the Annual Condition Insp. In that case, he must hire an "A & P Mechanic to do the inspection. Lots of rules and regs for these EAB planes.

      Yes, I've known many "Builders" and I've known "Builder/Flyers." He considers himself a builder, but the FAA REQUIRES him to build 51% of the plane to be the TRUE builder. He hasn't - this plane was actually built by South Africans. Mikie was hanging out in his home in Georgia. He did say he "called in (to the hangar in California) daily to check on the plane. I think he thinks that's "building the plane." These South Africans saw Mike coming.

I'm guessing that we WILL NEVER see you flying the Sling solo - I, personally, would be totally surprised. Maybe we'll see you sell it due to "getting an offer you can't refuse." Allowing you to get ALL of your money back, plus a nice profit. Seriously, can't you see the position you've put yourself in? Then, maybe there will be a Vans RV-14 build, in the future.
