Dragonball Z Super Battle is one of those ones where you can see Banpresto's love for the series. Every character has a unique ending that is a twist on what happened in the actual manga (this happens later in the SuperSonic Warriors series).

Great list! Second time Dino Rex has popped up in a few days for me. Weird since I’ve been into emulation since 97ish… and while a ‘new’ game pops up (I was severely late to boogie wings) it feels like Dino Rex is being shoved at me like CZcams’s saying PLAY THIS NOW
(And I /did/ just get RetroArch running on my iPad here sooooo…..)
Fun additional Dino Rex fact - PLAYERS CANNOT CHANGE SIDES
If you end up on opposite sides, controls are lost and both Dinos WALK TO RESET to their correct side
So no crossups here (whew looks like a blast)

The random running or seemingly dino-trainer looking humans in DINO REX was hilarious...
The futile attempt to get a ragin Triceratops to settle down cant help but make me think of THE SIMPSONS, and the Gentle Ben talk show... "NO Ben...!"

      @duffman18 Před 3 měsíci

Fun fact: Gentle Ben was a _REAL_ TV show, and yes they used a real bear. It wasn't an invention of the Simpsons, the Simpsons simply did a joke about something that already actually existed in the real world.

I lived in Japan for spurts of my youth (military kid) and I played DBZ: VRVS without having any idea how to play it or what was going on....but I loved DBZ so, I had to try it. Funny part, for me, is that for years I convinced myself the game never existed since no one I talked to had ever heard of it.....until CZcams came along and validated my memory.

A few other things that are worth pointing out: Ganryu has a modern day sequel that's out on Switch and PS4, not sure if it's available elsewhere. I'm also not sure if it's any good or not, but it is a thing that exists. Also, thunder Fox was available on the first Taito Legends compilation for the PS2 and XBox, so if you have either, that's an available option. Finally, Joe & Mac Returns, Robo Army, Vandyke and Zero Team are all available on Switch and PS4 as part of the Arcade Archives series, so if you're interested in any of these games you can check them out there!

I love this channel I always finding out some weird weird games that never in my life I've seen so much as a screen grab. It's really a testament for the popularity of arcades in the 80s and 90s off the sheer bulk of games that were made, even if some aren't the best , still would be worth a coin to experience the fun😅
Oddly enough, in my country we'd get some Japanese games, probably imported to Brazil first because their Japanese community is huge. I played Dragon Ball Z virtual versus, quite a lot when I was in the absolute hype of dragon Ball z in my teenage years. I probably was the only one who did because the controls were really unconventional. That one was almost ported to the 3do(there was a demo in game shows) but was cancelled when the console flopped.

never knew there was a DBZ arcade game...that VRVS one looks fun...that should be re-released now for VR sets...Nemo would've been dope as a SNES "sequel" to the NES one, despite not being exactly the same....Gun Master looks like it could've been done, same w/ Thunder Fox (since it did get a mega drive version)....will buy Top Hunter now....surprised Robo Hunter isn't available...Riding Fight looks like it could've been ported, especially if they used Mode 7....surprising Dino Rex didn't get a release, especially during the dino boom after JP...Primal Rage got released w/ obvious concessions, DR prob could have too.

It might seem like a bad translation, but "It's a gravy day" isn't so crazy.
"Gravy" is slang for "good" or "a bonus". Sometimes "gravy" is a noun meaning "money".
A quote from Platoon is an example (and maybe an inspiration): “All you gotta do is make it out of here, it’s all gravy. Every day, the rest of your life, is gravy.”
"It's a gravy day" could be "a good day" or "a lucrative day".

Just so you know, Joe & Mac Returns did actually get a home console port eventually, for the Switch, if you want to play it that way.
Also a couple of years ago there was a new game in the series called New Joe &. Mac Caveman Ninja which is still a 2D side scroller but uses modern 2D graphics instead of pixel art. Here's a tip for people checking out light gun games from these videos anyway they can, If you have a Wiimote laying around, they can be used on PC as light guns, you just need a USB sensor bar and to configure some stuff in MAME. You can find some guides easily on CZcams. Alternatively, if you a modded Wii or WiiU, there are MAME versions for these consoles that can run them using Wiimotes as lightguns. May not be as good as playing the game on it's original cabinet, but I think it's the next best thing

Slight correction on Thunder Fox but it did also get a US Sega Genesis release in 1991 but no version for Europe/PAL regions. But given how much graphics and content was stripped out and the lack of two player I'm not sure if it would have fared much better for SNES in 1991 with it's lower screen resolution than the Genesis. It definitely would have had a wider variety of colors though.

Dragon Gun looks like a classic quarter muncher. Lots of huge sprites, loud sounds, things flying at you at a relentless pace. It'd take $10-$15 in quarters to beat and You'd gladly pay it just to see what happens next.

I love this series. And I just about lost it at "Yes. Yes I am."

I arrive late to this video but the Dragon Ball Z games weren't exclusive to Japan, they were actually available in some countries around Europe due to the success of the anime (I think the DBZ V.R.V.S. was the most common from the 3 listed here).
It was still hard to play them because they were always in Japanese (source: I played V.R.V.S. as a teen and a few friends played it and the other 2 in UK, Spain, and France), but they co-existed in the same place as games like Sega Rally or Point Blank.

I miss the days of old naming conventions:
    DINO REX
    DRAGON GUN
Nothing fancy. Just what you see is what you get.
