    I watch alot of horse training/buying videos on CZcams. I can always tell the good trainers from the not so good ones. This guy for example, he has such a quiet, gentle energy. He's probably a helluva horseman. Just by his demeanor around this horse. Thank you for your videos. I'm subscribing to yours because I see you have a genuine love for horses.

    "perfect" for me is safe, good ground manners, sweet. I may have this all wrong. But I would feel real comfortable sitting on a horse like that.

    This has helped me a great deal, I rescued two small horses a couple of years ago, I had one trained for trail riding and the other has already been broke but has not been well socialized, we purchased a horse from someone close by, we got lucky, she has had a lot of socialization and experience with people bringing her several places for trail riding, she's 7 and is a nice mare, calm and friendly. I really enjoy your calmness too, thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge with us.

    The first thing I noticed about Boots before you said anything was he had what I call "soft"eyes. It's the first thing I look at.

    The horse I chose because of his eyes is well balanced, highly athletic intelligent and kind. He's an arabian stallion who had never been successfully haltered at six years old. He had never been handled at all after two days attempts at haltering him and had never set foot outside the small run he was born in.

    No amount of money could buy my horse. He's perfect for me but I look for a far different type of horse than Boots. I don't mind an unhandled horse or one that has been spoiled. I find them interesting to work with. I like a very energetic and highly athletic horse with big eyes and a good mind.

    • @epona9166
      @epona9166 Před 3 lety

      It sounds like you assume Boots isn't energetic or athletic; is that because he's standing there quietly?? I think we can assume he's well trained, and that's all we can assume. Besides, this trainer isn't saying don't buy a horse whose nose is hard; just that a horse like that is nervous. Or don't buy a head-shy horse; or don't buy a horse that won't move over from pressure on the side. He's just saying that if you're looking for a finished horse, that you can use right away, those are signs to look for. You yourself like doing some work, so you wouldn't be looking for a finished horse.
