I’ve gotta stop digging up hibernating animals.

- The rain has finally started falling again, so it's time to start trail-building again! I'm stoked on it, but the local wildlife may not be...

Imagine what that mouse is thinking when it wakes up! "wtf, how the hell did I get over here?!" 😁
Maybe it just thinks it magically moves every year
Hope it survived might have drowned from the rain.
That slow look to the camera at 3:09 🤣
Eric the trail builder: "Well, this sucks!"
Eric the vlogger: "I'm sooo glad I was recording that! Content!"
Fiskars have this shovel with metal handle (top to bottom its metal). This shovel outlasts 4-5 shovels with wooden handles. It is usually a bit more expensive than the wooden ones but it is totally worth the price. Wooden shovels just fails all the time.
Fiskars is the best
Fiskars is definitly the best… also useable as a crowbar
The look of dismay on Erics face when the shovel broke, oh my
Was going comment this. You don’t need a spare shovel just a good one
I find metal or fibreglass tools too slippery. It rains a lot here 🤷♂️
That mouse is going to be REALLY confused when it wakes up.
So sick to see you improving the trail! Have to come back and ride it sometime.
Kaz needs redemption!
Kaz V.2 Yes!!
The mouse is going to be so confused when it wakes up and probably will think : “what? Again?”
This reminds me that I'm overdue to put in some trail work.
The deflated look when the shovel broke 😂
I have tons of respect man! I spent a whole summer building a trail that was only about 500ft long😂
best video series ever keep it up!
Canada looks so cool with all these local organizations. Here where I shape, we have hunters who don't want to share nature, putting stuff on landings sometimes and mayors that are hating mtb :(
Love the video! Thanks for teaching me how to build trails. Especially berms😂
Great trail work 🤙
Great video mate. Good to see Yuka was helping (as much as her injury allows!) 🤙🏼🤘🏼🙏🏼
Awesome! Great to see you building again! 👍🏻🤙🏻😇
Awesome work! Some good additions to the trail. Looks really fun and playful.
Working on something new after that last berm :) I frickin love trail building, ha
@@BCpov I'm looking forward to seeing it!
Great vid, Eric! I'm always mood boosted when you post. Thanks for the great vibes! YEW! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I’ve never felt more lazy in my life watching you do what you do.. So inspirational. Watching you put so much effort into this and watching the trail grow makes me so happy, even though I don’t ride.. I appreciate what you do so much. Absolutely amazing man! Love it!
That soil looks so easy to work with, dreamy compared to what I have to dig through. Trail is looking really good.
The storytelling is top notch. You keep on delivering. Thanks
Minor feature idea (let me know if this is a good idea or not - I have zero experience with this, but find it interesting). S bend corner, but instead of staying in the gap between curves you roll over the top of the berm into the other curve. The two corners would be about tangent at the point that they meet, maybe with a very short straight (ish) section between them to lengthen the transition a bit more and make it easier to avoid accidentally jumping over the top.
It's very likely that this is common already, or unrealistic to maintain, but if it does make sense I wanted to share it.
Love your videos :)
Really stellar riding on this bit of trail! Nice flow and subtle transitions; looks super fun!
It's actually insane how dry our summer was. Here in Portland we had a wildfire we could see from downtown. The fire went from 500 to 2000 acres in a couple hours because of 32c weather with extremely hot, dry, desert wind IN LATE OCT. The following week, temp suddenly dropped to 4c with nonstop rain over night and it's been that way ever since. It's like fall didn't even exist this year.
Most unweird Portland moment
Great to see you inspired Sam Pilgrim to do a video and that Yuka is on the mend! Happy trails!
Awesome video! Glad to see that Yuka is doing well enough to record. I hope Yuka has a speedy recovery!
Excellent trail building video, and kudos to the nations for having the trail on their territory!
Lovely to see another building video! Keep them coming!
Thanks for making sure to try and re home the mouse Eric! The trail is looking really good and, the draining is really interesting to see, the way it just got soaked up into the soil.
You are a hard worker, Eric.
Dude, props to you for that car transition! Very entertaining to watch.
Keep up the good work Eric!!! You always impress with you solo trail building. One day will make it out there until then will just need to watch it through your eye's (and lens).
Maybe you can name that step down the Mouse Drop!
Fantastic editing. And the trail looks super fun.
You’ve got a lot better at trail building over the time with stone starlet! You use the right style for these videos unlike some that are just timelapse with music! Keep making these videos!
I always enjoy your videos Eric. Anyone can learn from them in some capacity. Thank you for sharing them with us.
i live in vancouver, about an hour drive from your trail
Great video as always, and really good job on the trails!
It takes A LOT of work building trails, and also a lot of works to put together videos this high quality. 😀👍
the building ones are my favorite ones
Very nice work Eric! I don't know if you had any help or not, but it sure looked like you could have used a second pair of hands. I hope to ride this trail some day.
YES. I actually waited for this video. Love to see the progression of your riding skills, yes, but building trails is also very interesting.
Cool video, love how serene trail-building looks, especially in the rain! If only i had more time....
Also nice to share your findings with other fellow trail-builders!
I'm so impressed with your trail building skills Eric! Now come build some of those out here in the Calgary area! :)
Thanks for a great video! I really like your trailbuilding content, it's both entartaining and educating
Thanks for everything you do for the community. I know how strenuous digging is, and that was a lot.
It’s great that you are back out fixing and building trails. Looks like some nice improvements. Hope Yuka is healing and doing better.
the quality of your videos has improved so much recently, and i love it
All those gas powered units are also available in electric. Although a spark from a metal blade on a rock might be an issue.
It's good to see you building again Eric. That trail looks so good. Wishing Yuka a speedy recovery as well.
Awesome work Eric! Cant wait to ride the new features.
The amount of work you put in is just insane! Would love to ride that trail if wasn't like at the opposite side of the earth 😅
I knew you were close to where I am but I never realized how close until seeing that home depot thats 2 blocks from where I work
Great video Eric, it's good to see what goes into building a trail and also its upkeep....and evolution! Best wishes to Yuka on her recovery too. ✌🏻
Pro-Tip . . . if you plan to build or maintain trails, make sure at least one of your shovels is a "Transfer" shovel. It is *GREAT* for leveling, screeding, and most importantly, packing down. Having said that, it is not designed for digging. So, if you need to do some actual digging, then you will need, you guessed it . . . a "Digging" shovel.
Same thing for us. it didnt rain for MONTHS and finally it rained. (which was a month ago)
My back hurts just watching this.
Lmao at the shovel. Done it too many times and will never learn.
Rider's helping clear drains and removing fallen branches, etc. Should be common place behavior to help out trail builder's. I think every rider should volunteer a few times a season understanding how trails are built and giving back makes us all better Rider's. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the ride
I grew up in Colorado. The soil there is so rocky that when I see soil like you were digging in I am totally jealous. Even where I live now my house was built on an old riverbed. I literally cannot dig with a shovel. You need a long steel bar and a pick ax to even begin to dig a hole
Amazing Eric!
Sweet! Can't wait to check it out again. Such a cool looking trail.
This was great! thankyou for the great content.
It takes a lot passion for you to create that great trail! Keep up the great work!
That’s so awesome my friend great job thanks you
Looks super fun! You guys have done a great job building all of it! 🤘🤘
Wait, 800 hrs? That’s a tiny bit more than I have on Breath of the Wild.
Me and my buddy ran into you yesterday while you were working on this trail. the whole trail is awesome and definitely much harder than it looks on the internet
Yeah Eric nice building out there building. and hitting new. features for the first time is quite unnerving because unless try it you can’t make the adjustments that you need to make it’s a nice confident. booster when you do get it right Nice to see Yuka is doing well MTB injures do happen sometimes but it sucks when it’s someone close to you
so good man!
Sooo awesome epik cool trail 🤘💪👍❤❤❤
Good job, man! The trail looks so rideable now
The trail is looking really sweet Eric. Great job on the building and riding. Hi to Yuka....she's my favourite youtuber 👋
Try using a scythe instead of gas powered cutting equipment. Many you tube videos demonstrate and After a few hours of practice you can cut faster than a gas powered brush cutter. Brush blades can cut 1.5 inch saplings and dry dead blackberry canes with ease. no risk of fire, quiet, fun, no breathing fumes and bonus they have wooden handles
Former trail builder here - shovels in general suck ass at prying, they love to break. Get an 18lb rock bar (like $30, it's literally a steel rod with a chisel point at the end) and a pick mattock. You can move damn near anything with those two.
This is awesome
Really nice improvements!
Hey I’m happy to see your land acknowledgment!!! Miigwech from Manitoba
How is yuka doing? I saw her injuries earlier this week.
Doing well! Cast recently came off
Q: what is your criteria to know when to stop building features? I love features but sometimes you just need a break on a longer trail.
Really great work. I enjoy your videos and your voice and I wish I could try your trial
His Eric, great video! one quick question if you wouldnt mind, what saddle is that that is on your bike, looks really cool, would love to find out where it is from.
Try a shovel with a fibre glass shaft. They don’t rot out like wood so you can leave them onsite for the season.
Ever thought about embedding grass pavers or something similar into the dirt on a berm to mitigate erosion?
Awesome video 😃👌
Keep making more videos my boy your a great inspiration and it gives me chills bike riding while listening to playboi carti seeing the nature around you feeling the wind it makes me shed tears sometimes
You trimmed the landing to perfection whenever you cased it!! Lol! I think it would be great if you could record the smell of fresh loamy dirt in your edits. I think that would be so perfect to have that when I rewatch this during the cold days of January.
it was a beautiful forest.
That thumbnail... "Hope they like step downs" got me crying.
(Happy Crying, FUNNY CRYING)
nice video like always
How's Yuka? I know she's there but how's she feeling now
The new step down feature should be named Mighty Mouse👍.
That's a great name for it!
Positive enhancement to the trail Eric. So glad to see Yuka up and mobile after such a wreck.
Top Arbeit 👍
great job 👍
What rear hub do you have on that thing?!
I would love to ride this trail, which I might have to do with Canada lifting the C 19 BS
you disappoint me, I had firmly expected that you will fix the shovel , so its be a special one 😂😂 instead of buying a new one......
wow!! you re really good to build (;
Damn, that's a LOT of work.
RIP shovel. will not be forgoten
I am gonne watch it frim start again
I love your videos! Excellent series so far with the trail builds, looks like so much fun. I just started riding this year and cant get enough, but not so sure I could do a lot of your features. So jealous of your building locations, all that cedar so readily available! While Im at it, do you mind telling me what software you use to edit your videos? The wife got me a GoPro 5 Black and Im having a hard time with it. Keep it up!
