Many people don’t realize she came up the tunnel in a wheel chair. Totally gutsy! She was amazing
Todd Zeille is so right. I was at that game. Liza Minelli, like most entertainers, normally performed in front of people who bought tickets to see HER, so of course they were going to love her. Here, she was already kind of old and past her peak, she was performing in front of a crowd that didn't come to see her and maybe didn't know her or care for her, but she just completely took over and rocked the place. I gained a new respect for her talent.
That’s our Liza ❤
The best
I was at that game
I'm so HAPPY you were!
Liza was wonderful she's made that song 'hers'. However, NOTHING compares with thousands of baseball fans, screaming, as the National Anthem is ending. Something magical happens at the ball park.
That WAS her song. She did if before Sinatra. Liza introduced it in the movie.
It is her song. It was originally written for Liza and was first performed by her in the 1977 Scorsese movie NEW YORK , NEW YORK. 🗽
Obviously she was NOT gonna do this at Yankee Stadium...because in the 90s until Liza herself told them to cease and desist, they would play her version of New York, New York after a LOSS.
shes lip syncing right??
I've always wondered that myself but I think the sound of the video is off, it's out of sync even at the beginning when she says it's exiting to be there.
@@gethappyConor I don't know if she lip synced or not. I DO KNOW it's difficult sing any song out of doors. Too much noise, too many distractions, then there's the echo & bugs flying in your mouth.
No way! She sang it for real bro! Pure heart and guts! One of the best performances of all time!
Liza always sings live like her Mama Judy Garland. 🗽
No. Absolutely not.
