Can we all agree that it was Charlie's actions that killed his father. Why would you give your kid the passcode to disarm your security system?
One thing you have to realize is the guys family have been completely spoiled and have no idea how to handle the reality of the purge which is why they make such idiotic decisions. I don't think the movie is as bad as people say and it paved the way for a really cool and interesting movie concept which has only improved with the sequels.

I recommend you watch the other Purge films cause they show more of the outside perspective in the events. My favorite is The First Purge on how it started. You’ll really enjoy it

Idk why everyone got mad that this turned into a home invasion movie. It's still better than the other ones that are trash. This felt more real
You should react to Sinister. That was so good with a fuckton of tension
They hated this one because they didn't do what the sequels did, show the chaos in the city whereas this was just a home invasion and the purge was used as a reason they can't call the cops for help
The sequels show how everyone who isn’t rich has to survive and they go chaotic so much faster

Yeah I agree!! The home invasion was so boring. The others are exciting & my favorite is the First purge when it all started
The Purge 2’s main character is literally the best character in the entire series. He was going CRAZY & his backstory was good asf
They should have spent more time on him and less time on everyone else XD

I remember my best friend and I saw this in theaters and after we left it was super dark out and we felt like the purge was about to happen. We started laughing. It was great 👍
The second one is one of those movies I watch once a year.
That, Starship Troopers, Pandorum and the entire Saw franchy are for some reason something I can always find time for

Also the purgers that attack the family, the leader is played by Rhys Wakefield and a lot of people think he would make a good Joker because that's kinda how he was acting in this. If you google his name with Joker there's a lot of fan made posters that look pretty good. He delivered some siniter sounding lines during the first interraction, has the creepy smile, even holds the shotgun like the Joker. That group all had masks and you could just swap them out for clown masks. The moment where he pointed his gun behind him at 8:46 and shots the guy is 100% a Joker moment.
I was a purger for Halloween this year. My mask said RUN and I had a fake baseball bat. Lots of people liked my costume. 😁

I highly recommend you do all 5 purges. The purge 2. That was one of the best ones! I am sure yall will agree. 3 was pretty good. 4 was decent good.
I’ve seen all 5 & it just goes down hill after the first one.

Cameras. They have cameras evvvvvvvvverrrrrrrywhere!!!! And by the time that last tone of the siren goes off anything that happens is a crime and punishable with death! They show this in the Purge tv series
The idea of this movie scares the F out of me more than any slasher any ghost any other type of movie

In all purge movies, this is my most favorite ik some characters' writing were weak but I love the suspense, the thrilling, and the creepiness of it not like the other purge movies were the plot are big scale, tho those were great too.
I recommend The Night House. It sets up its suspense scenes really well
I reccomend the divergent series is amazing and such a good story behind the films the first orn is the best😍😍

I was expecting such an amazing film from the premise, but as you said, the characters/writing/ plot points just went down lower and lower. Very frustrating. Glad I wasn't alone in feeling this.

I struggle with this franchise because the premise is so unbelievable that it's hard to take it seriously

Uh man, I disagree! This was a good movie! First of all, this movie is really a question of morality, cause at the beginning of the film, nobody, except the 'Son' had any morals or apathy. If someone needed your help, and they showed up on your porch bloodied and attacked on PURGE night, would you help? That's the moral question posed to the viewer. Now some people might hate this movie, cause for them the answer would be No, and that would be the end of the story. But if you have a conscience, and your answer would be Yes, you enjoyed seeing how the plot plays out from there.
Secondly, are we really ready to believe these psychos are people of their word? The leader of the group just blew his own friend's brains out! I believe they would've killed the family anyway, just for the inconvenience.
And finally, consider this, if they had not rescued the Homeless Vet., would their neighbors, been successful in killing them all? The family would have never seen that coming.
So, I liked the movie! 2 & 3 were even better, but this one was a good one two.
Idk the plot does come full circle with the homeless helping them but the moral dilemma of saving him or not is such a weird way of judging the stupid decisions in this movie. If they all died because the kid let that one person in then his conscience would be tainted so either way there’s no right or wrong in this scenario.
I agree with the moral question in the premise, but it was poorly written characters and execution…
You are willing to die for a random guy but won’t take the tape off his mouth?

You believe in the “good” of the purge, but don’t have arms in home?
I watch these movies for the story and masks
I find these movies to be one of the few where the sequels surpassed the original. I think the concept was fantastic, and the subsequent movies learned from the mistakes of the first and capitalized on the concept without falling prey to bad writing like this one did.
The worst part is the idea of the purge is just basically devil's night from the crow. Nothing about the purge is unique and it's just wasted potential of an idea that was stolen from a better movie. If you liked the idea of the purge I'd recommend watching the crow because it's a crazy movie that looks like a rock music video

I suggest to watch train to Busan it's really good it's not that popular in the US but it's a fantastic movie and THE FLU they're bot Korean movie i hope you can watch them:))

I don't hate this movie. It's just so close to real life it creeps me out beyond belief.
This movie is so hard not to get triggered at. Like yeah its wrong to murder people, but at the same time, YOUR GONNA DIE IF DON'T YOU DEFEND! Like geez this is the night with no peace what did you expect?

The kids definitely brought the movie down. Here's my rewrite tot he whole kid letting the guy asking for help in trope, just off the top of my head, the daughter was out late because of the goofball boyfriend. She's trying to rush home, purge is about to start and she's rushing home but doesn't make it in time, gets targeted by purgers, you have a scene where they catch and torture her so we hate the purgers more, she escapes somehow and makes it home but the purgers are following her. Then have a moment where Ethan Hawk is trying to negotiate with the purgers. It fails so he has to go Rambo Last Blood on they asses.

I liked this movie and agreed with everything you said. A lot of people hated it because of those stupid ass kids. And yes he’s a war vet and they could’ve had him help out like u said. The ending with the neighbor was bullshit.

yeah this one really sucks, the second movie with frank gillo (crossbones) is by far the best one and probably the only good one
This movie is a case of AMAZING IDEA but TERIBLE WRITING. I kept watching the franchise because I was hoping they would finally do the idea some justice but it never happened. I stopped believing after the 3rd movie and also never watched again. The TV show, however, is surprisingly good on showing the consequences of the purge and the web of lies.
Forever purge is where it all comes crashing down and it crashed down real hard.
The rest of the Purge Movies are better
The purge sequels are much better
