Jerry Lewis Telethon Bloopers... Part 2

- If you think about it - this Telethon existed from 1966 to 2010 - every year for at least 20 hours - 98% of which was live tv - no 7 second delay. That's 900 hours of Live Television!!
Here's a very small part of some of the bloopers that happened - a cue was missed, a cue card, a performer didn't show up, electronics didn't work, who better to have fun with it or turn it into some unique entertainment that the one and only, Jerry Lewis... let's watch!

jerry and the kid omg, what a class act, god bless them,
14:37 Jerry was smart clearly. He saw the kid tried to end it after the spin a few seconds before, once he did the spin again, Jerry managed to finish it off so the kid and the band ended at the same time
So many of these moments went unnoticed when we were watching it live or for that matter even remembered. Now some 30 to 40 years later all these so called glitches have become solid gold memories, in some cases being just as entertaining as some of the guest stars that appeared. It's a testament to how time really flies. These telethons were a Labor Day gift to all of us baby boomers and helped countless of Jerry's Kids. Kudos to the people who have brought back these past telethon gems for us to be nostalgic about.
Jerry had a great run and was the best to provide us with the best talent in hollywood entertainment through the year's and i never cared what the critic's said about "pity monger"" jerry lewis was a truly great chairman of mda he had his share of problem's but he pulled through for his kids
At 16:01 of the video:
"They got us pictures, but most of these technicians worked in silent films many years ago."
Jerry Lewis is too funny.
For all those that are grousing and complaining about Jerry being "unfunny"(are you kidding me?),or worse yet saying he was running a scam all these years....well,there must be something in the water you're drinking, lol. I'd love to see any of you do what he has done for all those many years, with the same dedication,love,altruism....not to mention stamina. The man was an unstoppable force when it came to those kids. Without him,it will never be the same.
imapeach1, they are just haters. They hate their own life and put down other people who actually did good for others! It's very simple :)
@Roger B Independent audits and IRS postings concluded otherwise. Yes disease (MD and others) are still killing people, but research has made inroads to the causes of not only MD, but many other diseases. Quality (and length) of life had improved for those afflicted, and families have been assisted as well. I am not only talking about MD, but many worthy agencies and charities that depend on public and corporate dollars for research and sustenance. There are many watchdog groups that list the non-profits that make the best use of these dollars, being nonprofit means all the donations and expenditures are public record. So the assertions you make are not backed up by the facts.
@Roger B Then show the facts. The MDA tax filings are available, there is no slush fund..he nor his cronies made money. There are independent audits done, nothing has ever even suggested impropriety on MDA or against Lewis..and I am not the biggest Lewis fan, I just follow the facts. I have no emotional connection. One of the differences between Cancer research and charities like MDA is government funding. MDA has never taken a dime from the government. In 1971 Nixon declared war on cancer and federal funds were made available. The difference? When govt funds start coming in waste and fraud are more rampant. The more you can justify spending, the more grants the gov will give. When a private entity starts a non profit there are very particular laws you must follow. Believe me the IRS is all over fraud in non profits, as much or more so than tax cheats in regular business.
@Roger B In the year 2016 MD took in 120 million. 85 million went to program expenses (68 %), 13 million administrative expenses (10 %), 19 million fundraising expenses (15 %). All fall with acceptable and satisfactory guidelines. One can always argue about administration and fundraising.expenses, but it takes money to run and organization with quality people, and it takes money to raise money. i am not saying MDA is the best, there are organizations that have less admin percentage, but their are far worse. Again i have no bone to pick, nor do I think they are the best..just writing facts. National nonprofits sometimes get hammered because high salaries are being paid to CEO's and other high level positions. Well when you are running a 120 million dollar entity you need quality people. These same individuals could likely make as much, or even more in the for profit sector. If individuals do not like it, do not give..pretty simple really. And not all nonprofits have the same expenditures..if you are paying Dr's and researchers your salaries will be more than if your nonprofit is paying for dogfood...just saying.
Please send more Jerry Lewis Bloopers, love watching them, thank you
Jerry was into technical stuff
Loved Jerry, labor day not the same without him, but don't get him mad, could be a real bastard
Ed was a very nice guy when I met him ✊
Jerry Lewis was an amazing man who gave tirelessly of himself to fight for people who were and still are dying from horrible life stealing illnesses. THAT IS WHAT WE SHOULD REMEMBER
NO, he was a vile, mean little shit, only in it for the attention for himself. There wasn't much about him that was good. He was barely a decent slap-stick comedian. THAT is what we should remember.
@@puppyash9656 I got to meet. Jeery Lewis. He was an amazing man who gave over 50 years of his life to fight for kids and adults who were and still are dying from horrible deases. He was MDA and he is dearly loved and missed
It's a rotten shame the way that Jerry was treated when he was "fired" from the MDA. I refuse to believe that Jerry didn't want to do the show anymore. And the shameful treatment of the telethon the past few years post-Jerry: the shameless commercialism, the self-absorbed celebs, and the dropping of the local telethons for one national carrier.
And now...it's completely gone.
Jerry will receive his rewards when he gets to heaven for all that he has done for "his kids".
Thank you for your kind words for Jerry
There was much more than we will ever know. Times change, the telethon was becoming more expensive to produce and bringing in less money. Yes there should have been a better way, but honestly Jerry had his faults as well. Change is never easy, many of the local stations you speak of had dropped the telethon and many others were seeking to bow out unless there was change. There are many sides to the story, doubt anyone will find satisfaction in the answers, but it was time to move and diversify for their fund raising.
m williams You sound like a person in HR giving an employee an exit interview!
The way MDA treated Jerry was beyond shameful. Jerry loved his kids and poured his heart and soul into the telethon every year and then MDA ripped his lifes work away from him only to destroy it
@@mwilliams1330 MDA ripped Jerry's life long work apart! MDA changed things alright! They absolutely destroyed the telethon. Now they have Kevin Hart who couldn't raise enough money to buy shoe laces and celebs who could care lesd for 6 hours
The last video clip when Jerry says "Maybe I was a little rash?" lol!
Jerry's face at 15:03... I can imagine how was the meeting after the show.
lol, yes..he doesn't look very happy! Damn!
That look at 12:00 is the face of someone who is going to rip his staff a new one.
LOL dont just look down, help me, either one LMAO
when does he say that ? x
Jerry was amazingly funny
That little black kid can sure tap dance.
Yes, I, part of the Gentry Sisters sang for Jerry's Kids. Don't know if Jerry is with us! I would like to see him again. It must have been around 1978 because an Elvis impersonator, king Creole, was there and was African American at that.
Jerry passed away in 2017. He was.91 years old.
35 Years!
That look at 12:00 said the post-show meeting is going to be hell.
jose very nice cant wait for the next set of clips

No Jerry, No Telethon!
@ 5:18 : my favorite note of all time! =D
Jerry was a truly amazing artist, performer and character. Sure he could be difficult when things got botched up. He was a perfectionist. get over it. he had a truly amazing life and run at it.
It was so nice in the days when humor was just that...humor... nothing more... I miss those days.
they fucked it up this year.
Dule Hill Rocks! :)
sound effects lol
I agree with Jerry about the hour.

We Miss the telethon ..
Who is ‘we’ this shit was stupid.
2..3 Billion ( may be higher ) over all these years has been raised, and still no crue? Are you serious? Absolutely disgusting. Pharmaceutical companies intervention no doubt.
There may never be cures for many diseases. But the research has brought better quality of life to individuals, longer life spans, and assisted families with expenses and health costs. The same can be said for many diseases, do we quit, or keep trying?
@@mwilliams1330 Why bother? The spiritual body cures everything!
Cast390 I worked on the telethon for many years and I have seen the advances that have been made in the quality of live for these children and adults. It has NOTHING to do with pharmaceutical companies
Ouch ! With script, without. Awful. Ed is nice tho.
Dule Hill! How cute was he!
They actually sold this thing to people?
jerry is so unfunny, annoying, no wonder Dean Martin didn't want want to see him for 20 years
Jon Dumore, my thoughts exactly. I always find it so ridiculous (and confusing) that people who claim to hate him and think he's an a-hole are watching vids of him in the first place. Go figure.
Oh but you watched his video? Why???? Lol haters...blah blah blah
Colin Burr, Jerry was such a genius and so mesmerizing that even his haters, like you can't help, but watch him performing...That's okay! We get you, we know how great he was ;) no worries
I’m sure you have friends that feel the same way about you cupcake, you’ll be OK🤡
