People like myself who voted for Brexit, did so out of simple choice as per the ballot form, not "zealotry". You may recollect that the opportunity to vote at all was actually given to the nation by a remainer - Cameron. If the referendum result had been in favour of `remain', I and every Brexiteer I know would've swallowed the bitter pill and gone quietly on with our lives. However, the disappointed remainiacs have done quite the opposite, and moved heaven and earth to overturn or stymie the lawful and democratic result.     I really enjoy Times Radio these days. As far as the election, this is also really enjoyable to watch. I have seen how so many times, so many Brits voted against their own interests, that it is truly mindboggling, but It looks like British voters might finally show some sense and stop voting for their own demise. The details of Rishi standing in the rain getting soaked, of his many gaffes, all of this makes it seem like a Richard Curtis Romcom which is highly entertaining.

    He’s NOT worried about Sunlack. He won’t be phased by debating it was his job in trials etc He doesn’t need to be firey or animated. He’s serious, focussed, organised and measured. These are the proper attributes for a PM. But don’t think he’s a pushover or timid! Quite the opposite. He has come from quite a modest background by dint of his STRENGTH OF CHARACTER and intelligence. Just read the book about him, it’s all there!

      It is always the case. People do not vote a party in. They vote the government of the day out. However, Tories being in government for 14 years has been disastrous. Tories only look after the wealthy. I mean look at the disaster created by that evil woman Maggie Thatcher. And at the same time, Ronald Reagan was in the US. Their trickle down economics was a total failure. However the rich got richer. This happens in Australia, in the USA as well as in Canada. Labor or Liberal governments depending ob which country you are referring to, do make improvements to the working class. In Australia for example Labor brought in Medicare and Superannuation. I hope the Labour government in the UK if voted in will bring about some positive policies that will help the population in general.

      Way back in 1945 people said that Clem Attlee was uninspiring, that he was boring, had no charisma and should move aside to let the more inspiring senior members take over. He stuck with it and according to historians and political commentators was among the best three Prime Ministers the country has ever had with many saying the best.
      We've had enough of the populist loud mouths who have run the country into the ground with their constant searching for the next mornings newspaper headlines. Let's have somebody who can actually get on with the job of rescuing the country from the fourteen years of Tory misrule.

    From France, so excuse my French... It may not be my place to make this comment, but having known a much more pragmatic and value-oriented UK, I am baffled.
    You appear to be in a sad situation frankly...
    France isn't in a great situation either (at least on the home front); but at least, from my point of view, we are in the EU...
    I guess you are going to have pick yourself up...
    But it would be nice to 'recover' the UK I have known when I resided in Scotland in 2000... Many across the world were looking up to you then.

      @@jeremymanson1781 Thanks Jeremy. The French can be great, but we keep acting like spoiled kids. We keep refusing to face the reality of our problems, and we have a few to deal with.
      The Brits are awesome (I mean it) when they apply common sense, pragmatism and honor as you are known to be able to, when you make future-impacting decision on the base of the greater good for you and your community. When you keep in mind that if a sound management team is a significant plus, but the actual success takes place with those handling the actual customers. May I refer you to 'if' by Kipling.
      I, as European, need you to behave as men and women, being as pragmatic as you can be optimistic. I do believe we need each other to be as sound and solid as each can be. Remember, if we are to work together, European(be it German, Spaniard, Italian, Irish, Deutsch, French, etc) and Brits, (which we are bound to in the end I believe), we are only as strong as our weakest link... The US isn't strong enough to do it all for you or us.

      You can’t know till they are processed. Oh look the people to process them were cut years ago. Now there are lots of applicants not processed. They said at the time “part of the plan to put people off” now there is a massive backlog costing a fortune. What a shock! Next came the complaints that there are lots of people you can point at. Throw in a list of actions that were designed not to work but create a lot of noise. Almost as if it was planned that way to create a focus for the easily distracted.

      I was told at school in the early 1970s there was a demographic time bomb. Too many older people not enough young. The people arriving have get up and go. Process them send back the ones that don’t have a claim. The French will even let us do it across the channel. However that would come too close to solving the problem certain people want to keep on the boil to distract the easily distracted.

    I think it’s clear that Labour will win the next election, but also that Reform could split the Tory vote. So my guess is his primary objective was to “wrong foot” the Reform party which, given that Farage doesn’t have time to run for MP again, he does seem to have done successfully.

    Sunak is a clown 🤡 he's mandating our kids to join the Army once they're 18. Well let him sign his own kids in first & if they survive alive then we may consider but he needs to start with his own kids first if he thinks it is safe, he wants to drag our kids in but I wanna see him go first with his own kids.     This is what happens when you knife a successful campaigner, who won a good election, in the back. We had it happen in Australia to both Labour and the Liberal Party. Ambitious people want the job without actually winning it and without the ability to campaign and connect with voters.
