    Welcome, The F15 X5 is in need of some maintenance, the list has grown quite bit, this is the first video of the F15 2014-2018 X5 Diesel Maintenance series Im going to be recording over next few days. Hopefully this content can be helpful in performing some of the maintenance procedures that need attention 😊. If you have a diesel make sure to change your fuel filter every 25-30k miles 👍, diesel fuel is very dirty in North America compared to other parts of the world, it gets clogged up very quickly.
    X5 Maintenance playlist I have compiled so far of some of the common items on the BMW F15 X5 2014-2018: • Bmw F15 X5 35D Diesel ...

    Thanks. Have a 14 535d w/57k on it. Bought it w/36k . Egr and intake manifold was changed thru recall but will remove in the future. Going to get on this as I was wondering when the filter needed changing. AND, thanks!

    Great video! Easy procedure, and nice to have the visual reference before getting into the project. I probably will use a screwdriver to free the hose from the old filter instead of pliers (I cringed a little when I saw it). Looking forward to more of your maintenance vids. On a side note I like your blackout pieces on the front. 👍

    I turn the vehicle on to auxiliary but not run the engine. You should hear the fuel pump working. Let it finish and then turn it back off. Do this 4 or 5 times to prime the pump and then start. It should fire right up

    • @MotorsportInspired
      @MotorsportInspired  Před rokem +1

      Generally speaking that would work on other bmws however on diesel pump does not turn on when you put it in the auxiliary mode, it only turns on when it’s it’s cranking on the diesel bmw models, it only does that in gas versions.

    I thought you needed to prime it so the HPFP doesn’t run without fluid at all?

    • @MotorsportInspired
      @MotorsportInspired  Před 2 lety

      when changing filter fuel does not drain all the way from HPFP therefore always some left in there it only looses some of the pressure, so it never really runs dry when you first start it, it just takes 1-2 seconds to build back pressure in line, if you watch video carefully notice in after filter replacement first start up if fired within 2 seconds that is really quick and thats been the case every single time I changed this filter prior, its highly unlikely to damage the HPFP in that short amount time, specially that theres still some fluid in it it so it not really running dry in that 2 second time fame. I agree if you change the line hpfp then most definitely you would have to prime it but in this situation its an overkill.

    Someone did prime after the new fuel pump installed and the fuel line hooked up. But you mentioned prime should be done before the exit line is connected. Which one is the correct method?

    • @MotorsportInspired
      @MotorsportInspired  Před 3 měsíci

      If you are going to prime then it’s done before the line is connected, but like I said in the video it’s not really necessary becuase it doesn’t take long at all to get it to start back up, and to prime it it’s long procedure to activate the pump by its self without engine. FYI I gone this filter replacement 4 times already in last 130k and mine pump is still running so clearly it’s not necessary. Otherwise it would fail long time ago.

    Hi
    I have a 2014 X5 f15. I opened the underside panel on the driver side and looked under but can't find the fuel filter. I can see the compressor but no filter. Am I looking in the wrong place?

    • @MotorsportInspired
      @MotorsportInspired  Před 2 lety

      Make sure you take off the front left cover, filter is directly under driver seat

      Hi Every 40k 30k to ensure fuel system is as clean as possible, as it is very sensitive and expensive to replace is for example high pressure fuel pump goes out
