Awesome! I’m having pavers installed in my yard this week. So cool how you could look back and appreciate how far you’ve come in life.
"I'm gettin' older, I'm almost in my 40s" LOL!!!!
LOVED this project, gonna do it for my mom's house. But the best part of the vid was those cuties at the end!!!!!!!!!
That’s a beautiful yard. Beautiful, sturdy pavers. No mowing for you!
Excellent. I love it
Talk about a transformation, looks great, Chris! I know your family will gets lots of use out of it.
Yes sir you know it! We love it
First paver installation video I found with no thumbs down!
Wow....its beautiful.....I can understand your enthusiasm here ....especially with how quickly they were able to install it.....Peace!
Thanks for this video, I have been wondering if I wanted to do this myself & after watching- I will definitely hire someone!! I had to laugh out loud when you said you’re getting older, almost 40! I am 65! You have a long ways to go my friend!!
Found this randomly and decided to watch. Great video! I think I will watch more on things I may need help with. Great note at the end too! It is good to point out to people that we are meant to progress. What we have "today" can grow into more if we are responsible.
That was awesome! They make it look easy.
Thanks sir!!
The look and color of the pavers are really beautiful.
Those guys did an awsome job!!!
Coming back to this video now and seeing how young your kids are is insane!
Hats off to those workers. 👍
That's immaculate. 👌
your wife's breath stinks
It's very different from how we do it here in New England. Usually, around 9 inches have to be excavated to have a patio at the same height as grass. 2 @ 3inch compacted lifts of base material, 1 @ half to 1 inch thick lift of bedding sand, then the paver. Obviously, lifts can be different depending on the thickness of the paver chosen.
Yeah I do 4 inches of abc stone then inch of paver sand. North Carolina. Wish it was as easy as this. But yeah. Looks really good. All about how long it last.
I think it's incredible! Good for you, thanks for posting this video, and damn those guys are hard working forsure.
Really appreciate you sharing that process from start to finish. Very informative!
Wow!! Sure turn that into a very useful area. What a difference!! Thanks for sharing this, it was cool to watch them lay down the pavers. I’ve done this before but these guys make it look way easier. Awesome video, Thx Bro👍👍
I’m glad you know how tough it is. Thanks so much for the feedback brother. Means a lot!!
Dear Chris, I wanted to say thank you for your channel. I have been watching your videos for about a year now and have been very impressed with your content and delivery. I only have a few subscriptions and you are one of them. I though I would write to you on this video because it is the first of your videos I watched when I was researching pavers. I later came across you while researching other crafts and realized the real content of your channel. I am an amateur woodworker and home improvement enthusiast about your age also with three small children, so I understand your situation. I believe the thing that separates your channel from others is the entertainment aspect and family engagements you bring. Anyone can record how to build a French Cleat, but you do it with style. Since I have starting watching I have built a French cleat wall to replace some peg board the previous owner had and will be buying some Baltic birch to build my first cross cut sled. Thank you so much for the videos you produce and how you produce them.
Wow Brian thank you so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know it really does mean the world to me and my family. I wish you the best in everything and have fun building that cross cut sled. They can be very satisfying. Again thank you so much
Pouring a concrete around the edges, not compacting the soil before putting base, not doing 6 inches of base...it's a mistake!!!
Absolutely gorgeous! I want my whole backyard done. I can probably do it myself
I want my whole backyard done too I'm going to try and do it myself or at least part of it like take up all the grass and maybe allow the pavers to pave
That looks fantastic!! You did a great job with the video and explanation of the whole process. We can totally relate to the 'first house size' comment. Our first house was about 1100 square feet! We can also appreciate your awesome craftsmen who installed it. We do most of our home improvement projects ourselves, but when we wanted to get a patio installed, we went right to the experts. We know how much work it is, and how much experience is required to put one in. We know you and your family will enjoy it for years to come.
We sure will enjoy it!! It was a blast seeing it all come together too! As always, thanks for your kind words and I wish you all the best!!
A good friend decided he was going to hardwood refloor most of his house, doing it himself. I had done this several years earlier hiring pros. After talking, he realized his house would essentially be his initial experiment, seeing every misstep and mistake forever, and knowing he probably wouldn't ever be doing the same again, he hired some pros. He was very happy. That's how I feel about large paver jobs.
3.30 standard random lay when you’ve got three size teg blocks to lay. Usually you need to lay a ratio like one pack of large to two packs of medium, just as long as there’s no straight joints.
Respect to you and your family keep up the good work.......shout out to the workers hell of a job
Absolutely gorgeous!
Once again, your excitement is infectious. Great general info on backyard options, thanks.
Thanks for the feedback always good to hear from you
This method won't work in NY or anywhere that sees a "freeze and thaw", but in warm weather climates, these guys did there thing. Nice work.
You mean for the concrete "edging" so the proper way in snow climate is to use plastic edging?
@@Overfl00d I mean for the whole patio... When you live where you have a freeze and thaw, you need a compacted base under the pavers, otherwise you'll end up with pavers that heave and/or sink. Where I live, you want a solid 6" of crusher run (or something similar) that's compacted with a plate tamper, and then no more than an inch of sand on top of that. Even in Florida, I would've at least put down a 4" base, just because a heavy rain could potentially wash out the sand underneath it. And yes, plastic paver edgers should be nailed down around the pavers to hold them in place. 🙂
Looks so good man. Happy for you. Thanks for the video.
Wow! That looks very nice. I will incorporate this type of pattern when I lay my pavers.
Genius!. My wife and I are thinking of doing the same thing (with the help of my teen kids). The only thing that is holding us back is the digging part. Our backyard is clay with lots of rocks. We tried putting some plants and took us forever just to dig a hole (just with spade shovel). But what you did, man, is inspirational. Cheers!
Thank you brother. I hope your endeavor with your pavers goes well
Sand!!!
Mesmerizing
Great energy good video. Fantastic for 7 hours and cheaper price, it looks good. In California where I do pavers we use 6” base rock, 3/4” sand and cement edging of 1’ all around. We glue our border pavers onto the edging to lock everything in. We used to use plastic but it would fail rather quickly compared to the longevity of the cement.
Man that looks incredible.
That looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Those guys are Boss Level.
They sure are absolutely
Damn awesome video. Thanks for making it all content and not just talking into the camera. All youtuber makers need to copy this style
They really did a beautiful job!
Certainly different to how we do it in England . We would work from garage outwards after cementing edge restrainers/border pavers in place. Then 6 inch hardcore Base 60ml paver 40 ml sand. Really nice job lads. Obviously we get more rain softer ground over here.
Hats 🎩 off to those gentlemen. Wow 👌💪
this is the best tutorial yet
This is fantastic... I want these in my side yard. I’m in Hawthorne
My peoples doing what they love to do. Nice job!
Damn right those guys are rock
@@AGlimpseInside dios bendiga tu hermosa familia.
Great video Chris. I think I can do my driveway now😎🇨🇦
That came out beautiful
Thank you so much
Best decision you have made! Wish I had money to do this as well. Maybe soon.
That’s a real nice patio.
Thank you we absolutely love it
Excellent video very well done. The filming and voice over were perfect A++
Thank you so much Russel I appreciate that
Looks incredible.
Dude... That looks awesome😱😱😱👌🤙👍
Beautiful!
Would love to have this done. They really did make it look easy and it looks great👏👍
Whitney Harry Thank you so much, they were absolute professionals! We can’t wait to use it when the weather gets nice
Great job, I love the fence too!
That is some back breaking, hardcore work! Nicely done hope you guys have a great weekend on that awesome patio!
Paisas rules 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Always great to watch professionals at work. What a nice job.
I agree thank you so much
Their work, your explanation made for a great video. Thank you.
pleasing to the eyes................................... great tip, thanks!
Great job!
Beautiful patio, congratulation!
I like it,nice job👍
Good info Chris. We laid a patio at my parents a few years back and it took like 100 times as long, was about 1/2 the size, and didn't turn out near as good as this..It was back breaking work. Glad to see it turned out well! These guys obviously have done a few of these.
We would be in the same boat if we decide to do it ourselves as well! These guys were amazing.
Looks very nice
Your invited to the carne asada lol 👍 awesome work !
Looks great Chris!
Thank you John
I'd be happy as hell with that patio if it were in my backyard.
However (and I'm not trolling, I promise), there are a few things I'd like to point out just in case it's useful to future viewers. I'll preface this by saying, they do things differently in Florida and he's lucky the contractor even showed up.
1) The base for a patio is the most important step. They didn't lay down sand after the gravel. Usually it's recommended to do 1" of sand before the pavers. It takes a little extra work, but will help in the long run.
2) If you're going to use three sizes of pavers like this, you really should lay them in a pattern that doesn't leave long straight lines. The only long straight lines should be at the edges.
3) The edges should be lined with a plastic edge restraint. The concrete will crack over time (in the industry they call it crackcrete because it always cracks), and when you put soil over it and plant grass, you'll have a hard time keeping that grass healthy due to the shallow depth and the concrete will make the soil hot.
There are 2,000 year old paver roads still in existence that were probably built with similar techniques as what they used here. So I'm sure it'll be fine.
Thank you for your insight. I think it’s pretty cool that you gave all different ways of doing it some probably better but then you ended up with the 2000 year old comment. Good stuff brother I appreciate it
@@AGlimpseInside as I was working on building our 16x20 patio last night (I'm 3/4 of the way through installing pavers!!) I was telling my wife about this video and how big your patio is. 1,200 sq ft is incredible. Like you said, that's bigger than my first house.
What was the pavers Blocks called
Really liked the look of these and great job
Awesome man! God bless!
Excellent video.

Like your video so much looks beautiful
Your energy and enthusiasm was awesomely inspirational.
I always wanted a patio of about that size. I wonder about how something like that cost? Hmmm.
Your patio looks great.
love the breaking bad tshirt
I know right
Great video!
Amazing.
Thanks
Thanks Chris for a very informative video will be subscribing
Thank you so much Jason
WoòoooW dude, awesome work!
Thank you so much
no not awesome horrible!! everything they did is wrong!! that patio is going to sink and shift no matter what !!just a matter of time ..total waste of money as it will have to be ripped up and done correctly from a real company !
Love it man
Great vid
They did an amazing job!! Congrats!!
Yes they did!! Thanks
That's a great looking patio! They did a heck of a job! I cant believe they actually let you film it!
Thanks AJ. Yeah the owner is a great guy and we both figured you could be a win-win situation! I don’t think people are going to watch this video and say oh now I can do this for sure all by myself lol.
@@AGlimpseInside yea I guess that's true lol. Well good, glad it worked out for you!
Looks great and beautiful, i just finished doing my yard and they did it exactly like this, just different pattern and colors, they also used a rubber mallet to bring the pieces tight together, what a difference, no more dirt into the house. NY, Queens price, i paid close to $5k labor and material for 500 SF. included was the removal of my tree stump, Material pavers prices varies according to thickness, patterns and colors. I cant wait for the summer to enjoy the sitting outside and BBQ without any dirt around.
Yes this paver patio was completely life-changing. The kids play on it we have dinner out there it is fantastic. I’m glad to hear you’re kind of doing the same
your patio is going to fail!!! i have been building these professionally for 20 years ..
everything they did is wrong!! the base should of been dug out to 8 inches, then they should of graded and set transit for pitch and layout, then compact subsoil, then lay fabric, then 6 inches of 2b modified stone in 2 inch lifts to compact right. then screed cement sand with 1 inch pipes for paver cement sand bedding, then lay pavers fill joints with polymeric sand ,then you need snap edging installed to retain patio with 10 inch spikes .... run tamper with rubber mat or card board under or u will damage pavers!!never use mallets no need!!
$5000 is way cheap because they dont have materials cost!
i would CALL THEM BACK im tired of bad clueless workers out there making the real professionals look bad as if we are ripping people off!!
Sometimes good enough is good enough
@@MM-sq5pf wrong!!! Thats the loser snowflake attitude that fails everytime!
Everything in this video is wrong, the patio will never last, i have been professionally building them since 1999! I am really tired of lazy attitude people with no standards for quality anymore !!!!!!!
Understand that this video is a really bad example and should be removed.
Quality, respect for real craftmans is a lost art!
Understand to a professional this video is not only very insulting...it is also very misleading for someone to build a patio that will last!
If anyone sees this garbage video and wants professional free advice...message me i would be glad to get anyone on the right path...see the problem is i care about strangers getting beat ..
@@gmaster716 i so want to build mine outside! Got any tips or video links to accurate info?
Bet in this year if not in two years I will have dips in it
GOOD JOB
Yes. Yes indeed
Cool, that is my backyard. P-Town!
