I’m coming off of my antidepressants at the moment and I’m ready to face the depression if it comes back, you have to completely live it, if you start feeling a little sad just accept it without any judgement and say to yourself is ok to feel a little sad but I will be okay in Jesus name.... don’t listen to your mind and be mindful of the moment stay present and you’ll realize that everything is okay no matter what and that you’re complete and depression was a lie all along.

coming off of antidepressant is the worst. i was on citalopram 20 mg for 10 months, went down to 10 mg for a month and then 5mg for 2 weeks and 2.5 for 2 weeks. I was told by GP that 10mg is the lowest dose and I can stop taking them. Everytime I stopped taking 10mg I would get horrible brain zaps, fatigue and crazy mood swings. Even after I stopped 2.5mg, I had horrible headaches, blood glucose levels and stress levels went up for 2 weeks straight. This video is giving VERY uninformed info. The effects coming off of psychiatric drugs aren't some normal anxiety, etc. It is SEVERE severe more than your normal anxiety. It is anxiety times 10000. The dizziness is beyond normal. Hallucinations and severe suicidal ideation and even homicidal ideation is COMMON. A lot of people coming off these drugs become psychotic and aggressive. This cutesy video is not telling half the story. Very inaccurate.
Plus, your depression comes back because the drug only masked the symptom. And the depression can come back HARDER than it was.

they can help people alot. but they hurt alot of people badly. i think bc so many kids and adults are being misdiagnosed which is obvious since the criteria to test a person is so awful and just stupid. so many being put on this stuff when they dont have a mental illness or feel sad and these days its unacceptable to go through the grieving process we must eat pills for that. so many people destroyed bc mainstream gives no alternative to drugs. i had a traumatic event happen and im somehow disgnosed bipolar and put on antipsychotics and i never in my life had an episode and never had mania. so if someone is depressed bc of they have a legit illness then sure these drugs will work. give them to people who are human and have tough lives are not mental and dont need drugs. they need to heal naturally and going through the process and feel it and cry. not be so drugged up they are zombies and feel nothing anymore. id just say if u ever need to get off them for some reason good luck. withdrawal is bad and is nothing like opiod withdrawl.

Until psychiatrists begin to take samples of their patients' brain chemistry to send to a lab and have it analyzed to see if said brain chemicals are "normal" or somehow abnormal, it can FACTUALLY be said that there is NO EVIDENCE to substantiate the theory that mental illnesses are the result of some chemical imbalance in the brain. It really is that simple. Don't let them fool you with their fancy rhetoric or their round about responses. Always, and I mean ALWAYS steer the conversation back to this one question. "How do you know the patient has a chemical imbalance in the brain if you have not in any way sampled, analyzed, or measured the patient's brain chemistry?". Don't let them get away with circumventing this question.

The chemical imbalance theory has been dead for decades but people keep repeating the damn thing. The current working theory behind antidepressants is that they increase neurotransmitter concentrations which force the body to make adaptations to maintain homeostasis, these adaptations, in the lesser serotogenic, and norepinepherinic sub-systems then create knock on effects in the Glutamate system - the one of the two main systems and the primary excitatory system - these changes to the Glutamate system then have antidepressant effects. It's a very round about and dirty method which takes weeks to have any appreciable effect - and it also explains why Ketamine which acts directly on the Glutamate system has time to action effects measured in hours.

Antidepressant withdrawal is by far one of the most horrible things I’ve went through and I’ve went through it several times and probably will do so again. What angers me most is there are methods like tapering strips that could be utilized but it’s not done hardly at all in the United States. Only the Netherlands has them but they can ship them here. Why is that? I’ll tell you why. Doctors have no interest in getting patients off SSRI’s and neither do the drug companies. If they were concerned about getting patients off they would be looking into this method and we would be alot further ahead then we are now. Doctors and drug companies im sorry to say have no incentive to do so. It’s disgusting and I think morally wrong and it needs to change. We need to start demanding that this method be put into practice to help patients through withdrawal.

    • @user-xy4ff5yp7b
      @user-xy4ff5yp7b Před 4 lety +12

Vincaso I can only speak for myself. To give some background, I was severely depressed & basically didn’t eat, sleep or move much at all. It came on suddenly & I’ve never had anything quite like that in my life yet. The first step to healing was recognising the triggers. I was in a hostile workplace & in a relationship with someone with slightly narcissistic traits. I felt put down and treated badly from all sides. I was socially isolated in a city away from my family. I felt inauthentic and like my talents and personality weren’t appreciated by those around me. So I processed those feelings, as painful as they were, and “leaned inward” to really reflect on what I wanted from my life and what it was about my situation that depressed me so much. I realised that the bullying and narcissism I had suffered weren’t my fault and felt more empowered that those people are the flawed ones and not me. I went home and spent some time with my parents in my home city, then moved departments at work and have much better colleagues who are really lovely and treat me with dignity and respect. I’ve also realised what I really want to do with my life and feel excited for the future now. I’m in a new romantic relationship with someone so wonderful who has never made me feel bad about myself and is always so caring and kind. Overall, I would say assess your environment, work out the problem and change things if you can. For me I am thankful that I got depressed because otherwise I would never have made the changes in my life that have led me to where I am now. When I was in the pits of depression, I took about 1000mg of St John’s Wort per day and it really helped but that didn’t cure me and I only took it for a couple of weeks. Over time things got slightly better and I’d say about 3 months later I had made a full recovery. I worry that if I had gone to a psychiatrist I would have been given drugs and electric shocks and locked up. Instead my family and friends were happy to tolerate and sit with my depression rather than want to get rid of it. Sometimes you just need to ride the waves of life. I now take care to avoid my triggers, take care of my diet and physical health and I practise self care. I love my life now and I’m confident you can feel the same! :)

If they’d just ask you about hobbies, family, work, diet, sleep, money, relationships, responsibilities, future plans, that’d be half of the battle won. I was put on those pills. I had erectile dysfunction & low libido. This caused the woman I was seeing to despise and taunt me, as I became ‘useless in that department’ to her. Thus, everything going downhill.

In old India , 2000 years ago, depression meant the cosmic universe has chosen you to take on the spiritual path . If a young person had depressive traits, the elders would tell them to let go of all attachments in this world and seek out a spiritual master and become his disciple until enlightenment is reached. Once the enlightenment is reached, the formerly depressed student must become a master and help other depressed folks.
Depression is when your worldly identity collides with your real identity you were meant to do. It could be due to past experiences of previous life. Or karmic phenomenon where you spent the whole of past life to become something but could not achieve, only to be born again to finish the business. If a person does not finish the business he or she started in past life, the experiences in this life becomes dark and gloomy until you are on the right path.

Many times, withdrawal is delayed so you may be doing large cuts and feel great, actually better than ever but just be blindsided with severe, debilitating withdrawal weeks or months later and at that point it's often too late to reinstate so it's a waiting game. The brain needs to adjust. To feel better and prevent side effects reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives good relief from stress-anxiety. To relax sit on a chair or lie down, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. With daily practice the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations. @@shyaaammeneen63 Positive thinking is great, but inadequate to heal the body. You cannot heal a broken leg in 25 days by thinking at it, and it is the same with neurotransmitters. There are several adjustments which need to be made. I teach meditation, tai chi, qigong and breathwork, and recommend these for anyone trying to come off of drugs. I, too, help people come off the drugs on the Surviving Antidepressants website. But with the best intentions, 40-60% of people trying to come off will fail. And many will be destabilised and suffer. If they could meditate and wish their way out, they would. Listen to Dr. Shipko: www.madinamerica.com/2020/09/stuart-shipko-ssri-withdrawal-shooting-odds/ .
Your advice here is harmful, every other day (alternate) dosing is destabilising and therefore dangerous. Especially if your drug has a short half-life(there are variances, not all antidepressants are the same). survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/300-important-topics-in-the-tapering-forum-and-faq/?p=2864
I'm glad it worked for you, but you haven't said how long you were on the drugs, how many different drugs you had been on (sometimes doctors switch a lot, which is also destabilising), or how long you have been off. If it is less than 6 months to 2 years, do not be surprised if your neurotransmitters, endocrine, digestion, mood, sleep, skin, or other systems bite you in the arse the moment you hit a stressful situation. There is a delayed response in withdrawal - you think you "got away" until you realise the damage was more than you thought. survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/9451-delayed-onset-of-withdrawal-symptoms/
On the internet (and without a doctor, as most doctors do not understand how this works), it is best to recommend the safest methods, as people may take your advice and be harmed by it. The safest known method off of antidepressant (and other psych) drugs is slow, careful tapering. www.survivingantidepressants.org.

llama Read Nadines comments above. She nailed what it's like. Don't be discouraged because it can be done but it's a process. Do it right or it'll hurt. Good luck.

Stupid cartoonish video making the whole thing seem like it's just a little bad, in reality it's a horror. 10 months ago I started tapering, 2 months ago I was done with the SSRI. Here'e what I have to live with daily:
Anxiety adrenaline rush from the moment I open my eyes.
Extremely disturbed sleep with vivid dreams that wake me up every 5 minutes at times.
Insomnia, 3 hours of sleep daily.
    Central Sleep Apnea.
Deep sadness and depression with lethargy
    Week body and legs shaking
Disorientation and confusion especially outside in the street or driving.
Constant brain fog, feeling like I'm buried in my head.
Derealisation, life feels like a bad dream, feeling unreal.
Very pronounced tinnitus comes as a bonus.
And finally the only positive thing to come out of all this, lost 13kg of body weight.

I know how torturous it can be but this is just an informative video, please don't take the simplistic and appealing style personally. If anything, seeing it depicted as horrifying as it can be would just make me even more worried and hopeless, besides the symptoms vary in intensity from person to person

@@spicymeatballs2thespicening Usually the tapering off process takes 1-2 months to prevent any relapse. First gradually reduce to the lowest mg, then take alternate days, then once in 3 days, once a week and then stop depending on how you feel. Develop your mental muscles. In life there are only 2 problems-mind and the body. To feel better reduce negative thoughts and overthinking. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives good relief from stress-anxiety. To relax sit on a chair or lie down, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming-outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. With daily practice the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Observe your breath sensations when you experience multiple thoughts anywhere-anytime- before sleep, in college, before sleep, in the kitchen, when reading, etc. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a better life. Reduce negative social media, take morning sunlight walks and avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes--Counsellor.

How are you now? Stopped them 3 weeks ago and going through exactly what you’re going through and I’ve heard some people say it can take years 😢 I really can’t handle extra years of this shit and I don’t want to go back on the medication so just wondering if it’s gotten any better with you?

@@noraaa8479 Didn't last even 3 weeks after typing this comment, tried Prozac and felt worse and stopped it after 3 days, then I read that TCA are much much easier tolerated, tried Tofranil for one week, wasn't happy about feeling emotionless. This is when my Dr adviced me to try Amitriptyline, that was a break through and instant relief from insomnia and anxiety.
Still on it till today but, I'm like %85-95 back to my old self but it actually made me become careless about people and isolated. But I don't ever want to go through that horror 2 years ago. I've been scarred by that and I'm trying hard to help my brain with memory, I eat a lot of greens weekly and take multiple supplements for the brain and body.
May I ask how old are you?
