As soon as l found out the phaser has a Univibe switch and the chorus has a vibrato switch, l went into "Shut up and take my money!" mode, hard.

That vibe on the Chorus with a little dirt and some delay would be a great tape delay, or it would sound cool, in a wet/dry rig also mix it with the phaser and delay and it is almost a synth sound.

Ross distortion was the first pedal I bought. That was 1979 and I still have it on my board. I'd love to hear a comparison of the new and the old. It has a killer cocked wah tone when pushed with an SD-1. I like the top mount jacks, allowing tight spacing, however, having the mode switch on the side kinda messes with this. Putting that switch on top, or on the face of the pedal might have made more sense.

The recycle all the way off essentially removes the feedback for a less in your face effect. This would be more like the “script” MXR Phase 90. Setting the recycle up a bit would be inline with a “block” logo MXR Phase 90
That phaser into vibrato sound was kinda nice...
I guess I'm going to have yet another JHS Compressor pedal now, which will mean that I'm going to have more compression than dirt in my collection (not counting the moment a couple years ago when it seemed like every pedal also had a dirt circuit built in)
If you have the orange squeeze, it has a hidden Rat distortion mode.

They are not bad at all but they are indeed pedestrian. The price is right at $190.00 USD but there are dozens of other makes for every pedal on offer and a few in every type that are the hot choices. The only standout is the Ross comp in that it has some fame. DOD came back but they had a good 5 or 6 that sold well at inflated prices used. In the Ross era if your local shop had them you may well try one ,enjoy it and buy. Now we menu shop online with 100 minimum easy access choices of brand names and a thousand if you want to go down that small builder rabbit hole. JHS do not say but if they are literally making them they can easily just use them to fill any dead time.

I like the phaser into th distortion. I think I like the distortion, period, but I'm not sure I'm ready to replace my Rat with one.
I still have a Ross Distortion from probably the early 80's on my board. The Distort and Level are on opposite sides from the original, as well.

Nah, they are very tiny, you'll notice he had the pedals almost touching each other and the switches never get accidentally flipped.
