    Is the banging noise the drop valves ?

    • @HeritageVideosbyJSouthward
      @HeritageVideosbyJSouthward  Před rokem +1

      Hi Mark, afraid not the banging noise is partly the right hand high pressure cylinder piston rings bouncing along the cylinder bore due to lack of lubrication in that cylinder and also the corrliss rotary valves on all 4 cylinders not seating properly when air is applied to the valves upon admission to the cylinder, and therefore rattling slightly under steam they should very slightly float in the valve bores.

      They were the ones who ran the industry, the trains and so on. What a time, but what a damn job too.
