Why didn't you just use a cylindrical projection to do that? You didn't need to go to that extend just to overlay some bump/disp on glass material. Well explained though.

Hey Ross, thanks a lot for this tutorial. I have a question: Once you've done the UV mapping with the edited version of your 'walls' object, is there any way of copying the updated UV tag back to your previous 'walls' object, the one inside the subdivision surface? Thanks!

    • @George-dp7uj

@@Jebesniper Hey sorry just seen this. I worked it out and it's pretty simple. What you need to do is have you editable object or polygons that you want to UV selected, then (while in the BP UV Edit workspace) click set UVW from projection. Then you'll need to chose a projection from the projection menu, just whatever works for your object best e.g. cubic. Then you'll need to go to file > new texture and create a new texture, then go to layer > create UV mesh layer. You should then be able to save the texture as a PSD in file > save. You can then edit the UV in photoshop and apply it to your object.

This was dead useful! Is there a way to add the UV mapping to an already downloaded texture? I have Arnold right now just not sure how to link the displacement map to a glass texture...
