LG V60 ThinQ Review: It's Big.

  • LG V60 Review! LG's next big thing is REALLY big. I've used terms like "monster" before, but the V60 is a beast. With a handful of small compromises, this phone is shaping up to be the top option for productivity and multi-asking, while offering amazing features for content creation and gaming. Very few phones can really do it all. The V60 is on that list.

    Detailed, thoughtful review. Juan deserves a lot of credit for sticking to his guns in doing deep dives and focusing on substance, while some many other reviewers have moved to the over stylized, gloss-over, Instagram-style, "5 things to know"-type of reviews for an increasingly smaller selection on phones. Keep up the good work!

      PS: Your argument about not getting a flagship phone sounds logical, but it disregards the fact that it is the flagships that get consistently more software updates, sooner updates, and for longer periods. I can see your reasoning would make more sense for iPhones, though there aren't any midrange iPhones, unless you resort to getting a new, or used, one that is 1-2 years older. Ie in 2020 skipping the iPhone 11 Pro, and buying an iPhone X or iPhone XS instead.

    • @juwon1234
      @juwon1234 Před 4 lety +1

      @@ekinteko I will like to disagree with your arguments. update all boils down to the manufacturers. Yes it true that more of the non flagship /mid-range / low end might not but this can be said also for flagships as well.Example Nokia don't really do flagship phones but majority of their phones get an update so is the Motorola. The update really depends on the manufacturers and how well the phone sold or not.

      I wear hearing aids and im still the advocate for keeping headphone Jack. Its removal doesn't benefit the consumer, and no technology had replaced it in terms of hearing quality. Bluetooth doesn't count, and carrying a dongle is extra bullshit not needed in the first place.
      It's amazing how some consumers buy into things so laid out for the corporation's interest, not ours.

    • @mistamaog
      @mistamaog Před 4 lety +23

      @@BodethIII Exactly. Bluetooth can be nice, at convenient at times, but overall I still find wired headphones more convenient and practical. Plus carrying a dongle means you're going to be plugging things in and out of the charging port more often than before, prematurely wearing it out.
      I've had my charging ports wear out. Not fun with you finally get it plugged in right, only for an hour or so later to realize that a sudden movement cause it to not charge.

    Dude, I agree SO much. I was literally shaking my head as you talked about "average use" and what consumers actually need. I see so many people I know waste hundreds, and even thousands of dollars on top of the line phones like the s20 ultra and iPhone 11 Pro and other phones like that, and then when I see them use it, they only text and call and watch one or two CZcams videos a day. It aggravates me to see such good tech going to waste. People should really keep in mind what you said. Most mid-range phones today are packing some good specs for a good price. Sure, it may not have a 90hz refresh rate or a Quad HD (some mid-range phones do tho) display, but it gets the job done well. Mid-range phones as a whole are being slept on. Now, people like me who play tons of graphic intensive games, does a crap ton of calling, texting, CZcams, Netflix, Vrv, Hulu, and music consumption... People that do things like that should buy higher prices phones with better specs that will actually be used. Most people today wouldn't even notice the difference between 8-16 gb's of RAM, and a lot wouldn't even fill up 128gbs of storage in a lifetime. They wouldn't notice the difference between a 90hz and a 120hz (I do though. I like high refresh rates but it isn't a must for me). I need 128 gb's of storage for all my music, images, memes, videos, pictures (I travel a lot), and games, etc. Now, the person next to me (hypothetical) doesn't do all that, and yet they buy the exact same phone and let it go to waste. And yeah, it's nice having the best camera for people like me who travel a lot and are super active, so the V60 is a major go. But there are other people who should just buy cheaper phones like the Pixel 3a (or XL model) if they want good overall camera performance for average, daily use. Sorry for kind of ranting lol, just my thoughts. Also, everyone is different, so you can't really group a group of people into one category because everyone has different needs. Also, your review was absolutely amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed your video, and would like to see more about the V60.

I recently purchased my V60 a few days ago, and I was coming over from a Note 10+ that I had been using for a couple of months after I gave my wife my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I really, really love this V60. There are a couple of annoyances, but the overall package is amazing, and I still have yet to try out the dual-screen since I had to redeem that separately. I love the headphone jack, the screen is great. I find the fingerprint sensor quicker than the one on the Note 10+, and the camera has been great. I have been saying for years i wish someone else would make a comparable screen similar to the note series and the fact that LG has done this with the v60 has made that the main feature i care about along with desktop computer mode. Searched "LG V60" and similar trying to find a good review on this phone as I took the plunge and ordered myself one. Watched several half ass videos before discovering this one, which was nowhere to be found in my search results. "LG seems to be the only one who still has me in mind," that is the exact reason I chose this phone. I'm huge into audio, and I too am really sick of hearing this stupid "well just use bluetooth BRO" excuse. Seeing the headphone jack in a 2020 model phone is refreshing, the quad DAC is a nice bonus too. Also can I just say, this video was really well organized and you explained everything really well in a detailed yet not extremely boring way. Dammit Juan I've been free all day and now I'm with company and have to watch this video later. But I just got my dual screen accessory for free and have been using that for a few days. Yes this sucker is huge. Can't wait to watch this later!

    Always a pleasure watching your reviews especially on LG phones. I just picked one up but wasn't that impressed with the cameras. Would love to see you do a comparison between the G8 and V60's cameras. I don't have my G8 anymore but can't help but.feel like the margin between the 2 isn't that far off.

    objectively LG V60 might be the best 2020 flagship so far when it comes to full package + value but to me subjectively Xperia 1 Mark 2 is the flagship that I want the most :)

    When you really focus on the phone and go into super detail, you are the best reviewer out there. Just cut out the salty fanboy stuff where you try to take shots at other reviewers and phone manufacturers. You are really smart and talk about stuff most people don’t which I appreciate but it’s hard to listen to the first couple minutes of you sounding like you’ve been bullied by someone and are trying to defend yourself. Just be you and don’t worry about everyone else. Do your super in depth reviews that we know and love!

      We should not condone poorly made reviews of popular reviewers. Juan is the voice of those who want objective, not subjective reviews.

    But LG has given up in the nordic countries so a big fat F is well deserved on that one. F
