I’m thinking out loud and I’m stupid, so bear with me. It would be a perpetual motion machine if it would go forever so the magnets will lose charge over time. How long does it take?
as the kinetic energy is slowly depleted by air resistance and the like, the pendulum settles somewhere between the bottom and the side, such that the gravitational pull and the magnet's push are in equilibrium. the magnet won't become non-magnetic.
In a common sense of the term it is a sort of "perpetual motion" machine, although I don`t think it truly defies the law of thermodynamics. Very interesting concept though.
That is really impressive. I wish we could simulate such a thing using a CAD program
Solidworks has emf simulation
You could also model it shoddily using a game engine
After doing an engineering degree, its easier to just build it for real
Why would you? 2 magnets, cardboard and string, what's the point of making a sim for it?
@@null-00000 I have a powerful computer, and I lack cardboard and magnets.
Nice project buddy, 👍🙂.
Free energy
its cool and all but it pains me to see
Some people just want to create chaos.
I would've liked to see what it would look like if he made the pendulum orbit around the magnet
That’s pretty much what an electric motor is
How long will the pendulum swing for until it comes to a dead stop?

How long?
So how long does it take until it comes to a complete stop?
Seconded
Until it runs out of energy
Forever?
@@misahkay4025 Probably several hundred years even with these cheap magnets
Perpetual motion machine. It has to come to a stop otherwise it defies the first and second law of thermodynamics.
kewl!
I think it will stop after sometime
Nifty
I know it's stupid to ask but does it ever stop moving?
Put some glass with water around it.. I'd like to hear how it sounds 😆

How could we generate electricity with this?
Can anyone give the analytical explanation of this magnetic pendulum?
Ever tried to push two same polarity magnets together? Each other pushes away - > video
Gravity attempts to pull the magnetic pendulum down.
There is another magnet of opposite polar it at the bottom that pushes it away.
Cool. Now get a transparent container, fill it with water, and have the pendulum move in the water.
Free energy
Magnetism is also an energy lol
