I love how the lore goes that Isolde's homeland has some elements of Spanish culture with Victorian aristocracy, so she designed her doll to be what she imagined a pretty princess in a far-off castle would be like. So while Gwen doesn't necessarily "fit" anywhere precisely in terms of character design, she still fits Runeterra because she is a peasant girl's concept of an aristocrat.
They actually have a good character design for gwen IMO the lore states that she was just a doll who became a real human and only knew about isolde and Viego for a doll turned into a human she has that look the of what a child would think what a princess would look like all pretty and has a fancy dress and the Spanish aesthetic isn't that clear she suill has some charm from the dress don't know why people want another void champ tho it'll be just another chogath or belkoz just seeking power and knowledge

Necrit pointed out how this section represents isolde's poisoning and death. I cant help but wonder if that their wedding gift music box playing in reverse coupled with isolde huming along is supposed to represent how isolde's feelings towards viego started to change, or reverse, at this point.
@@YukihyoShiraki I'm haven't read too deep into the lore, but as far as i can tell Isolde and viego were happy together in their lifetime, and their relationship wasn't an issue
@@manuelmiddleton1446 that could be the case as nothing has been proven as of yet one way or the other. This is just a theory of mine based on the previous stories riot has explored and the tragedy seemingly woven into every thread of this plot line. Something happened, pre or post death, and it seems Isolde no longer wishes to be with Viego. Their relationship in the present is very much one-sided as the shard of Isolde's soul that was with Senna definetly did not seem too ecstatic to be stolen away by Viego.

Seeing all the original concepts, Im glad that they chose what we got since its the most calming one and gwen's supposed to be a relaxing and playful doll
Those werent the prototypes those were nearly finished products i remember seeing a concept of her being a marionette having strings attached on her body.

How I imagine her story is told by the music:
0:00 Isolde is making Gwen
0:16 Gwen is completed and Isolde is playing with her as a princes (0:29 and 0:52) but also as a fighter (0:16 and 0:45)
1:16 Isolde meets Viego. Gwen is alone very often. She doesn't really know what's happening. Time is flying by. Isolde dies. The ruination begins.
1:49 Gwen get's lost and sinks to the ground of the ocean.
2:06 Isolde's soul is searching for Gwen
2:22 she almost gives up
2:38 but then she spots gwen and brings her alive
2:49 Gwen is alive!
3:07 Gwen finds the sissors, needels and thread from her maker and fights the black mist (on the shadow isles).
3:21 Gwen is making her way to valoran/shurima idk

Isolde looked so happy with Viego tho. The fact that he couldn't let her rest forever pissed her so bad and he is still stuck back when they were happy together. That's a really sad story.
Honestly, with all this art and illustration of them being released, it makes feel bad for Viego in a way(just a little). They honestly looked so happy!
That's the sad idea. Viego wants his happy life with his wife back... But it is already gone and won't come back.
what pissed her off was the method he used to do it not that he did it. He did a lot of horrible things to make it happen and wasn't even the same person anymore.

This theme is bliss to my ears... These string intruments that are protagonised by the violin grow into a crescendo to then break out into cello and harp... It fits perfectly and it's so lovely...

*Some things I've noticed about this champion theme:*
Most obvious being, the main instrument is a Violin, an allusion to how her kit revolves around being a seamstress.
Throughout this track, the notes are harmonious, yet chaotic, giving off the vibe that this is the personification of the mist in it's purest form.
Most noticeably around 2:06 onwards, the theme slows down and we see Gwen as a doll. As we see her story unfold once more, it picks up faster and faster and full of life, just like she did when she was brought to life by a fragment of Isolde's soul.
Yea, btw, this and Viego's theme have a similar structure, where, it's kinda harmonious at first, then slows down, building up tension (Prob. Isolde's death), then the story gets to its climax and all the instruments starts playing again a little twisted from its original melody (presumably the ruination).
Oh lol I thought this was the champion spotlight, OH WELL

Her Theme feels like a Song from Camavor which she may have heard on Isolde and Viego's Wedding or its something Isolde Hum.
What’s cool is that the music box in viego’s song is actually from their wedding
And what's even cooler is that you can hear isolde singing a reverse version of it in this song
Gwen is an exception because she is perfect. But Riot has to take a break from the cute characters, because I miss the big monsters, the last "monster" that Riot made was Ornn, and Ornn was made in 2017.

Viego's love is selfish. It's purely about what he feels when he's with Isolde rather than truly caring about her. Isolde may have died but her soul was at peace until the obsessed Viego dragged her back to living because he couldn't let go and simply accept she's gone in the physical world and it is time to let her rest.

It's most probably called insecure attachment in English and I think that's what riot is going for here. It has to do with attachment theory. Viego needs help but has noone to help him get through this and Isolde is all he had. It makes sense that he is becoming a sociopath.

You can see the inspiration from camille, kindred and jhin theme in this music. I feel like they put all the things they have learned making all these great themes, and created this masterpiece.

I wish they made her passive as when gwen dies, she turns back into the doll that cant do anything but move around until a set amount of time ends before she's able to turn back, kinda like anivia's egg mechanic into lulu's morph. Would be fun chasing a doll around.

I just came out of somebody playing Gwen's theme backwards and you can DEFINITELY hear Viego's theme hidden in there. That needs to be mentioned as a genius level skill in musical craft. Well done to the entire team for that! If you haven't listened to this backwards, do so!
