    I looked at our yellow booklets and see I had two smallpox vaccines in the 1970's. Took a lot of shots at a single go in 2010 before visiting India. Didn't get sick in India. The secret was potent grapefruit seed extract, 14 drops in morning juice or coffee.

      This is good to know about the potent grapefruit seed extract. Props to you for having your yellow books from the 1970s. We wish we had been more organized regarding our vaccinations over the years. We won't lose sleep if we have to get vaccinated twice on something because it's been too long ago to remember. -Judy

    We have a couple.mon say in egypt "once you drink from the river Nile, you will come back again" here we don't mean to drink directly from the river , it is like metaphor only .. I'm happy you got a good time as well.

      What a great metaphor. We definitely drank from the Nile, then! We will be back again for sure! Thanks for watching! -Judy

    Great video, very useful. Watch out for the chaotic Cairo drivers. Egypt is worth seeing once!

      Thanks so much, Claudia! And yes, regarding the Cairo drivers. It's the first thing we noticed upon arriving there. Although somehow they made it work, which is impressive! -Judy

    Interesting nomad version of this process...I knew I was going to Zambia in 2004 and got my yellow booklet stamped in Kansas. Malaria was best handled by buying at a pharmacy in country...cheap and they knew what worked..I cannot imagine what you all did..so cool...
    Here in Cambodia it is best to research what part of the country you are in ... I read the local news for info on dengue outbreaks and other gnarly stuff...My parents and brother went down the Nile...my pop riding a camel at the pyramids was classic..50+ years ago.
    Quite an experience..keep going

      How interesting, Jeff! Thanks for sharing your experiences. Good for you to have a yellow booklet in the US. The pharmacy in Lecce suggested we go to the hospital, which didn't seem the right option to us and that was confirmed in Assisi by the pharmacist there. We are so glad we figured out what to do because it wasn't straightforward. One of the things we enjoy is to pass along what works for us but also learn from our viewers. We plan to be in Southeast Asia in December and in 2024 (not quite sure how long yet), so your insights are valuable! -Judy

    Really loving your channel! I’m researching Egypt for 2025, and your vlogs are very helpful! I hope to full time travel someday, but for now I travel abroad around 7-10 weeks a year.

      Thank you so much for watching! You get to travel much more than most people, but I can appreciate that it's still not enough. We have to pinch ourselves sometimes about traveling full time. It's been an amazing experience. 2025 will be here in a blink! Safe travels. -Judy

    What is the name of the daily medicine to protect your stomach? Also, what is the natural spray to protect from mosquito bites.

    • @FindingGinaMarie
      @FindingGinaMarie  Před rokem +2

      Hi Mary, The travel doctor we went to prescribed medicines for our stomachs (Bassado Doxycycline 100mg, a broad-spectrum antibiotic "used in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria and certain parasites" that we took before breakfast and dinner) and an additional antibiotic only to take if we had more serious gut issues. He also gave us a non-toxic spray for mosquitos called Nozeta (Neem composite oil (azadirachta indica and corymbia citriodora), and our pharmacist also gave us medicine similar to Benadryl in case we had an allergic reaction to anything. We recommend that you talk to a travel doctor to see what they recommend for you, especially if you venture into other parts of Egypt beyond where we visited.

      Doxycycline can cause diarreah lasting weeks! Take Pepto b 2X a day, 1 capsule. I did it in Morocco, ate street food and didn't get sick!

    • @FindingGinaMarie
      @FindingGinaMarie  Před 8 měsíci

      Interesting. The Doxycycline is supposed to prevent problems like diarrhea. It sounds like it's not a huge side effect, but maybe it's an issue for some people. Except for a single day of issues, I had no other problems in Egypt and Kevin had zero problems. Sometimes it seems like it's either getting lucky with the place and food you choose or else you have an iron stomach. Thanks for the suggestion; we'll be in Morocco soon! -Judy

    When I first went to Sharm almost all rhe English got sick at hotel except me ...I put it down to fact I decided not to drink alcohol as dehydrates you with crazy heat etc...at tome didnt get vaccines for there but pre world type trip did week by week as asthmatic... got sick in Mexico and Morocco food poisoning I believe.. yet India zero.. strange but true!! I ld avoidedvqccines before ashad bad reaction ages aho as asthmatic but nowadays they know what to do...remember I bought probiotics from health store too. . To help protect my stomach...

    • @FindingGinaMarie

      We did not have time to visit Sharm El-Sheikh, which is another reason to return. But in Cairo, Giza, and Luxor (and even our Nile cruise), very few people were drinking alcohol anywhere. Whatever you can do to protect your stomach is a huge priority. I am so happy that you were able to bypass it as much as possible. And food poisoning is no joke, either. Several people we met got sick and it was no fun. I am grateful that my issues were done with quickly and we had meds on hand to take! Having to find a pharmacy sounds miserable when you're in that condition. You are well traveled! We had hoped to visit Morocco before Egypt, but we were trying to avoid the heat and couldn't squeeze in both. India is on our list as well, but not quite sure when we will get there. Also, asthma is no joke. Quite scary when you're in a foreign country if you have an incident and don't have meds on hand. -Judy
