I wonder if the captain was attempting some kind of a suicide or something? It seems very odd that he would be forcing the plane down when the first officer was trying to bring the nose up KNOWING that they were too close to the water. Why haven't they released their identities yet? Who has the cockpit voice recorder?

Given the captains age, 61 and his actions I wonder about a mental decline. I'm 11 years older and recognize that mental decline does happen. I would suggest this captain has never been a shining example of air safety with his ready willingness to violate safety rules. Increasing the descent rate when you have to know even without visual input that following a rapid descent you must already be low.. There is still an altimeter. Never having flown any aircraft myself even I would recognize that striking the waters surface is a pretty good indication that I was just a smidgen too low. That is why I suspect mental decline and not processing all input. He was caught in a shut out mental fog.

Putting the airplane at 1800 sink rate at 200 feet after the first bounce off and pushing down on the column is diffinitely a suicidal act. The first officer was able to know what the captain was up to. It seems like the first two legs of the flight was preparing the first officer to accept to allow the airplane to be too close to the water so that the captain can quickly crash it. First officer saved it.

Bird strike! Yeah right! Looking at the damage no way. I'm surprised the landing gear wasn't ripped off by those hits on the water. It's like the captain lost his mind or was trying to crash on purpose. This was more than a violation of operational procedures. Based on the actions, it was an attempt to crash the airplane into the sea. Didn't the first officer testify that he was trying to pull the plane up while the Captain was trying to force the plane down into the sea? No info if the captain was fired and charged with criminals negligence? Unbelievable. This also shows gross negligence on the investigators as well - apparently willing to not address the behavior of the captain. If Morocco didn't take proper action, they should be disciplined by whatever international world bodies that regular flying!

There's a time to hold back from saying something, and a time to talk, especially when people's lives are at risk. After the first near-miss crash, it wasn't the time for the F/O to hold back his tongue.
In a case like this, when a F/O is paired up to fly a plane with an incompetent Captain, after the first incident of almost crashing into the ocean, should the F/O have told someone there's no way he's going to fly again with the captain, or go on and take a chance and say nothing? Terrifying ordeal!

A student pilot on day one wouldn’t even be that dumb.
