I love how this game's world is designed. I think it perfects locking progress behind item progression, while also making those roadblocks feel natural within the world. Like, when you're playing Super Metroid, the game is not subtle in showing you when you can't open a door, or break a block, because you need a specific missile or bomb--and for me that feels like a poorly veiled key with combat utility. In Animal Well, the items' utilities are not so obvious, which makes their interactions within the world feel a lot more organic. It feels like the items are built around the world, rather than vice versa. I want to see other games be this creative with integrating their items within the world, because this game does it exceptionally.
