@@-ITH There’s no room for everyone to eat in this community. Ky players have asked to eat at the 5 star dinning table with the other top tiers but we have been rejected by the communtiy and the game developers for multiple times and balance patches.
@@Winter_Sun Sf6 is a good well thought out and balanced fighting game. Same cannot be said for strive. Everyone is eating good in street fighter 6 because the developers made the cast stronger…didn’t strip them from their tools(unlike GGST). However in ggst only a few have been eating the gourmet 5 star meals. Ramlethal, Leo, Jack-o, I-no, l,nago, baiken, May, Bridget, happy chaos, and zato have been eating the well cooked lobster and caviar for awhile now. Meanwhile character like Ky Kiske and Sin Kiske have been left to eat the nasty dumpster leftovers by the developers and top tier player community.
One of the eternal problems facing ranked play (in any competitive game) is the disconnect between what it means to be good in ranked, versus what it means to be a good enough to be a pro. I come from a Brood War and Starcraft 2 background. It was generally understood that if you wanted to actually be good enough at Starcraft to make money competing, then you stay the hell away from ranked. Pros played custom games with their training partners and other pros and that's it. If you wanted to be a sweaty ranked player, grinding your way up the ladder to Grandmaster or Master rank, that's fine, but you would never be good enough to be a pro. With Starcraft 2 (and eventually even Brood War), that eventually changed as money making opportunities dried up and streaming became the de facto income stream for basically all pros. Streaming gave pros a reason to go grind it out in ranked with the rest of us. As a bonus, Starcraft 2 pros actually made this transition seamlessly because of the existence of Grandmanster rank. Grandmaster is reserved for the top 200 players by MMR in each season. The way Grandmaster works is unique in competitive games as far as I know, because once the players who qualify for GM are determined, they can't be demoted until the end of the season. This solves the ranked issue in fighting games where there is very often a vast spectrum of skill levels occupying the highest rank. I always wondered why other games don't copy this style of ranking system.
thanks for the HC matchup showcase, this is gonna be hella useful in tower. though if I may (I know you said you won't be hunting specific matchups), it would be nice to see how you deal with high level Ky players

This is really pedantic, but judging from how long ago that League memory was, it was probably during the time where diamond was the highest rank in league, and not challenger
