- The title says it all. During intermission, two stroke riders lined the gates at RedBud for the FMF 2-Stroke Invitational. We were graced by riders such as Ricky Carmichael / Jeff Stanton / Josh Lichtle / Jeff Emig (although he didn't race), Todd DeHoop, and many more. Here's our version of the race; no music, just the melody and harmonies of the 2 strokers.

I was fortunate enough to have Carmichael sign a red #4 number plate before he raced that day. Also got a good photo standing next to him. My brother asked him if he was going to jump LaRocco's Leap on the two stroke and Ricky kinda smiled, shook his head and said "Man I don't know,that might be a little hairy". He did it anyway. I knew he would. I think he could have been competitive with some of the 450 guys that day. Maybe not the top five, but 4 sure he could have been top 10. Miss him alot
Great era, Emig was awesome, my fav US rider of his generation. Watched him live, ride the MX Des Nations in Austria, his style shone through on the 125 YZ, most stylish rider there that year, and McGrath & Kiedrowski was there too.
Damn i miss the 2 strokes they sound so sexy the 4 bangers sound like a lawn mower race.

Jeff Stanton still rips. it was amazing to watch him ride at farleigh castle in the vets mxdn. he has such amazing style!

2 strokes are way better for nationals, 4 strokes are better for supercross
ericgent8702 2 strokes are better in supercross too, much lighter to throw around. I use to do arena cross back in the early 2000s and all the guys hated the 4 strokes on the tight arena cross tracks! Yes they produce more power but 2 strokes can carry speed better and actually put the power down much better.
Elliott Yeah you’re right! I’ve personally never been on a sx track just outdoor rec tracks but the 2 smoke guys always seem to have it wide open all the time compared to the other guys.
2-strokes are better for everything ! ;-)

@TheBlueDogMan My excuse is that mixing oil makes up for the repair costs a four stroke has. And I have learned that ramps treat 4-strokes better than 2-strokes when it comes to the smaller 125R-250F bikes

All sound bad-ass, but that Service Honda sound is absolutely a beast. Yep, I'm biased...have that thing sitting in my garage.
i think when Suzuki signed carmichael they told him only one thing, ride our bike all out, as loud and hard as you can, and so he did!

Emig has more titles than Dungey, (3 lites, 2 mx and one sx) and the ability to have enough personality to be a sportscaster. Dungey sportscasting? "yea..um....it's good.... ya know, everything just....i'm just superpumped' Emig also got his SX and MX titles when everyone, including a healthy McGrath was on the gate.
I can smell it.

@zookrider62 look at the exhaust and compare it to the Honda with #811, and compare the sounds between those bikes. I might be wrong, but where did you find he was on a 500
