As a roadster owner, I can't understand why people are hating on it. First of all, the 350Z isn't an all out track car. So having a roof doesn't really add overall performance over the heavier Z roadster. So performance advantage is nil, both cars are relatively slow when compared to cars where the hardtop has noticeable performance increase over it's roadster version, I'm thinking high end exotics. The looks are subjective. I like the roadster because of the looks with the roof off. The hardtop looks like a homeless version of a 911. And it's fucking nice to have a date and you go out for a drive in the country with the top down and you can see the stars above your head. Ultimately, its a personal choice, since you haven't paid for Adam or my car, why the hell would anyone interject?

I feel it would look especially nice if it was lowered a bit. Not completely slammed! Something practical that looks nice and helps handling. Possibly 10mm spacers?

Kris Nicholson leave off, 25mm won’t even poke that hard on a 350, never snapped an axle after 48k on an abarth, even with fiat build quality
Sits low enough i scrape on shit with stock suspension if its a daily id leave it alone
As someone who also has 350z Roadster/convertible as a daily driver I'd like to make a few suggestionsfor your car. If you get tired of the antenna making the car look like a toy RC car I highly recommend an antenna from a Honda S2000, it's shorter and just cleans up the lines of the car, also for any modifications for performance I highly recommend Z1 Motorsports sure they can answer any questions you might have about future mods. Good luck and looking forward to seeing the progress on your car.

I love that comment "What about people who carry tri-pods or children in their boot?". Made me laugh. A good exhaust, extractors, a cold air intake, coilovers and wheels. That will make it a great daily.
I used to have one of these, same colour but a coupe. Please leave the exhaust! The stock exhaust Nissan fitted is lovely from the V6. Just replace them ditch finders with something better please! Then install a CAI K&N with the scoop for a lovely deep bellow when you floor it , spacers all round and upgrade the read lights to LED. And you said slow? Nah never, but I agree with you about the ESP kicking in too much, but yours is definitely more exaggerated because of those ditch finders. I miss mine every day.
I love the z roadster. You're right about getting a spoiler. There is quite a few aftermarket options that compliment the back of the car.

probably had this a million times but, spacers for the rear and front would make it look a lot more mean and presence etc etc etc.
Best mod I did on mine apart from supercharging it was the exhaust system. Plenty of choice depending upon your budget. I went with an Invidia exhaust system with HFC's which I later swapped out for De-Cats.
Like I said before you should sign up to the 350Z UK forum to really help you get the most from the Zed.

Performance air filter, but maintain the original airbox as they do flow well already and have a cold feed. A good proper Remap will help crispen up the engine a little and make it more responsive. 15bhp possible max increase.

I'd urge you on the side of caution with the 350z in terms of traction. Even though you have the ESP off and traction control in theory is still on. It will correct small slides and cut the power but if you really pin the throttle and the back end really kicks out it won't do a thing and they are notoriously hard to correct due to the weight especially in the damp/rain.

I'd say exh and clutch/lightened flywheel then worry about wheels/stance. I'd say its a keeper. A very proper sports car.
7:10 Paul the wasp is now your garage helper when you need a second pair of hands to do any work. Seriously, they're all called Paul. Wheeler dealers, Fifth gear (their modifying bit of the series that just finished and now repeating on Quest), Car SOS and others I can't recall off the top of my head. I've not met my mate Paul yet. My Focus longs for mods but I just don't have a Paul living in my garage yet. :)

Revup (facelift) air intake box if you want the most power or jwt pop charger if you want sound and a bit more power. Also exhausts and sports cats, sounds amazing after these two mods! As yours is the pre facelift you can also get a plenum spacer. Doing the above should give you around 15-20 bhp if remapped with an uprev map, and more torque across the range 👍
If you get the resonator taken out of the exhaust will cost no more than 100 and will sound beefy as hell. Rather than spending so much for a full system...just a thought like

Doesnt have to be force inducted to be remapped
First go through the car and replace the worn/sketchy bits. THEN modify!

Lower it on coilovers. No stance ofcourse. Exhaust. Intake. Remap. Maybe other jdm wheels. These stock ones actually look good
The Nismo exhaust if you can find one definitely sounds the best!!!
All you need to make decent fun Power with the 3.5 VQ35 is a good intake and a good exhaust and maybe chuck on a lighter fly wheel and Coilovers and it will feel perfect on those B Roads

Get a motordyne exhaust or a tomei both of these exhaust systems sound amazing on this car. I have the motordyne exhaust on my g35 and sounds amazing just don’t straight pipe please
Straight pipes blow.. unless you’re putting them on an old Camaro or Corvette
The centre console is painted in a rubberised paint which scratches off really easy, as is around the door release handle and door switches. I've yet to see one that hasn't got some paint missing inside, mine has and it looks bad. If only they'd of used some sort of primer so the paint would stick properly. Don't lower it you'll be scrapping the cats at every speed bump. My Z has a powerflow centre and rear box which sounds nearly stock until you go For it.

Looks great always been a fan of the 350z I think duck tail without wheel stance will look daft maybe just a lip spoiler but your car your choice! stunning colour
Cold air intake will do nothing so don't waste your money on that (other than look cool of course). I would say lower it, new rims (and tires?), and remove the mufflers or put a new exhaust on.
Induction kit and exhaust would be a good start
I can only hope to find a Z even half that clean for $5k in the US!

Build your own intake from a 2nd hand Original Air box and stay with the standard filter too. Drill it thenThere might be restrictions you can knock out or grind off too. No aftermarket intake will EVER match or better the Noise unless you have a custom built one which of course is exactly what you'll be doing. Fibreglass it, paint it....whatever. People huff about it, mostly because they never tried it....or built a really shit one. PLUS....you can make a video about it.......
Plenum spacer highflow cats, catback exhaust, high flow filter id leave the intake alone they have issues with alot of the aftermarket set ups. I have a blitz drop in filter on mine you can hear it. No reason to get a short throw, shift throw is quite minimal fromm factory. Depending on miles clutch slave cylinders go out on these all the time i got mine with 40k on it had to change it at 46k pedal started sticking on hot days. Takes like 15 min though its an external slave on the trans. Poly urethane diff bushings are a must if you plan on doing some really spirited driving also invest in a oil catch can. VQs BURNNNN oil like no tomorrow
Id put a little spoiler on the rear not a huge one just a small one to break that bold rear end up a bit, Nice car though im feeling tempted to get one

Hi Adam. Great review as usual. I was looking at buying a 350z last year as I wanted a fun car for the weekend. I ended up buying a mercedes SLK 350 instead, as the 350z wasn't fast enough for me but still a great car. Cheers, Jon.

That's what I do, (not heal and toe but brake, lift off brake with clutch in, change gear and blip, and back to braking). I still haven't mastered it after 2 years of driving (heal and toe), (and I still have the nerve to call myself a petrolhead).
Never got used to heel and toeing. It never felt natural to me.

Some really nasty dirt on your steering wheel leather. Showing up on the camera with all that sunlight !. Highly recommend Gliptone leather cleaner for this task.
