    Loved this short but precise lesson on painting hair. I had tried making hair on the three girls we painted skin for the other day. Wow! What a difference some knowledge makes. Also, you are helping me to relish bright colors on objects that I wouldn't normally use them. Thanks so much for your instruction.

  • @tphilpotts26
    @tphilpotts26 Před 5 lety

    #BigArtQuest I really like this tutorial!!! The colors are beautiful. As for the afro texture, the tips had straight flyaways and this is not consistent with afro texture hair but it seems to be a recurring theme for a lot of professional painters. The thing is when painters do afro hair, they only paint it with straight or curly tips but my own afro doesn't have straight or curly tips (think Angela Davis afro). I only get straight tips when I straighten my hair with a blow dryer or curly tips when I use some type of beeswax, gel or mousse in it.
    In my hair's natural state, my tips look like clouds with a fuzzy halo because my hair is so tightly coiled. When I want to paint myself, I need the hair texture to be a bit closer to mine. So my question is, can I use the cloud technique for an afro to look more life like? How would I execute for highlights?

    • @TheArtSherpa
      @TheArtSherpa  Před 5 lety +1

      THANK YOU for a very observant and helpful observation. I would use a very soft and diffused method and make sure the light in and through the hair at the outer edges is there. 🎨🎨💖🎨 Check out this backlit picture of Angela Davis as she almost has a halo. I would get some Zinc White and maybe even Glazing medium. I did one painting more like that but I still pieces the edges in it. however it maybe helpful theartsherpa.com/videos/39/remaking-your-painting-art-sherpa-style-live-streaming-challenge
