"It's like getting picked last in dodgeball, but even the nerds don't want you."
Well damn, way to bring back some of MY memories from TBC. ;
My guild does it pretty well. We have 5 Kara groups and switch them around every week.
With BC Classic now out, I thought it was timely to revisit this series. In this video I go over the original transition from Vanilla to Burning Crusade, and make some comparisons to the re-release today.
It's been a while
pog
Me love you daddy
my favorite series
Loved it :)
I had the fortune of working the midnight release for this game. We were something like 2nd in the country for inventory and the line went for about 1/3 of a mile. What always stood out to me about that night was the breadth of people who loved this game. They came from all walks of life and would chat about their in-game experiences like they grew up in the same neighborhood IRL. I doubt there will ever be an MMO release quite like that one again (if nothing else, because of digital releases). Thanks for the video and the nostalgia trip!
It's really a treat to watch those old launch videos, search up "bc launch footage" if you're looking for more, there's a few of them! Thanks for watching dude
Glad to see this return, I don't play wow anymore sadly, but I have such a strong attachment to this game in spite of all the years and stupid decisions Bliz has made. Thank you for all your work.
This is a fun series for me, glad you like it
I haven't played wow sense mop but I recently got into TBC classic you should give it a try it is really fun.
Same here! Super strong attachment to the experience. Everything in my life was boring or terrible and this was the missing piece that was my home. (*World's smallest violin playing*)
I always find my way back to wow. I have had breaks over the years, but I still enjoy some things. I am married with kids and a wife so my playtime is very limited. I no longer raid and mostly just collect mounts, pets, xmog, and toys at this point. Because I don't have time to bother with end game its much less stressful. Recently tried FF14 and have enjoyed it thus far. I have to say wow is very different now from what it was. Lots of things are easier now and lots are more difficult. Being an elite raider these days is significantly more difficult, but doing dungeons and getting gear for general world content is pretty simple. I sometimes feel Blizzard is put in a position where no matter what they do people will be mad.
Welcome back! ....aaaaaaand he's gone.
I'm so glad Madseason made an hour long video, 15 minute video to watch now then 45 minute video reaction bald man tomorrow
Man I love these videos. Your dry sense of humor is just perfect. Keep up the good work!
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching them.
Holy shit man, never though I would see the day. This series got me into classic WoW, glad you are making more again! :)
Enjoy!
@@madseasonshow please do Wotlk :d
"Nothing better than cracking a few beers" - my favorite way to do dungeons, with that good ol' alcohol debuff
I love how Guild Wars wasn't even mentioned.
Guild who?
so it got about as much mention in this video as it did when it was released
Guild Wars always gets slept on, such a good game. Incredible build diversity and pvp.
Guild Wars is sick. I still play
It was my second favorite as a kid. Guild Wars 2 was good also.
I've been loving TBC classic, so many good memories
Literally captures most of our exact feelings of this Game's height and depth. All the video cuts meshed perfectly, great vid and editing, thank you!
sometimes when i get too high and scared I watch mad seasons videos cause his voice is so calming
dude idk why i play his videos while i play wow its calming!
@@RCoolAli something bout the guy voice built different
Easier solution, stop being a weak degenerate who takes drugs.
Ok it isn't easier, but sure as hell better.
Just wanted to say that your videos are such a vibe, your calming voice combined with the chill music in the background are passing the vibe check
Your videos are highly enjoyable :)
Heartbreaking the game has come to this. Godspeed my friend.
"It's like being picked last for dodgeball... except now even the nerds don't want you."
Lol! What a beautifully crafted simile that perfectly explained to me exactly how those guys were feeling XD
Yes, the most comforting and heartwarming series on yt is back
Oh wow, I just rewatched the series this weekend and now it has a new episode, this is awesome.
Loved this series a few years ago, glad to see it back.
These types of videos are so fun and enjoyable! Reliving the awesomeness that was with BC.. aw man good times
Keep the great work Madseason, ”tip off the hat”
Yes! I was afraid you were finished with Memories after Classic, super happy to see a new episode!
Laughed way too hard at that recreated Ree.
Spent hours with many wipes in Shattered Halls HC, no mage, no problem; frost trap, fear and earthbind kiting all the way to the end, adjusting our strategy and polishing execution with every failure. I had so much fun with that, and this was just recently in classic.
Now we need a Wrath memory episode. In light of Wrath Classic. 😁
He left
Somehow you always capture feelings similar to my own with these videos. I have so many fond memories of BC. Originally I played a troll mage in vanilla. About 3 months into BC I started leveling a blood elf paladin (I leveled holy too, god that was a grind) and mained that thing all the way until pandaria.
My favorite series of yours! Awesome to see another entry!
This is one of the "save-this-for-later"- kind of videos
Thank you;)
I don't even like alcohol but listening to that SSSSST of a cold one being opened in voice chat before a raid or dungeon is still the best sound I can hear in wow.
Start of a shitshow
Dude, Madseason. Your vids are so freaken fantastic and HILARIOUS. I just laugh my head off the entire time! Love your stuff.
New Madseason's WoW Memories episode?
DO WANT
Thank you, my friend.
I was left in tears by your 'recreation.'
You are definitely my favorite content maker. I love hearing the old gamer music I grew up with. Ff7/ Alundra . And I feel our experiences playing WOW we’re similar. Keep playing man. Watching you play helps ease my urge to subscribe. Thanks for the great vids.
I never thought we'd see this series so soon :)
I accidentally subscribed, then unsubbed. Then watched the whole video, and goddamn, you are a prolific story teller, and witty at that. Resubbed, and I look forward to more content. Long live Azeroth, may it rest in peace in the confines of our nostalgia
Madseason makes the world... of warcraft, go around :D
You know. With all these years and perspective, World of Warcraft was just friendlier to casuals
Information era bro. The game is a puzzle everyone can solve with google. Just takes grinding.
I remember before TBC launch there was a guild who changed their name to "waiting on warhammer" (WOW)...
Im glad I deleted my alliance toons and quit before tbc because a few months later the urge came and so my friend and I IRL started playing again but this time rolling horde.
This allowed me to essentially quest in zones etc from the opposite factions pov and experience the shaman class since it was soo foreign to me as alliance in vanilla.
Good content sir, your description of guild breakups at the time was spot on. I even got a hoodie printed out with 'forever team two' on the back cos that's how I rolled.
Awesome video glad to see your back
Ah, TBC, my fav expansion of WOW to this day. I remember when me and my frend who had been questing with me all throughout vanilla, we stepped through the portal and we just stood there, on the other side, awe struck, like we had just seen god or something. The Outland looked so alien and so different than Azeroth, we knew this will become something special. We quested together almost every day after work and when we were almost done with Hellfire peninsula questing we found our romanian guild that would become our new home in Outland for all of TBC. Our country is a pretty small European country so finding a big organised national guild was great for us. But for me and my pal, dungeons and heroics were our fav content. We always looked forward to finding a good group to run a heroic with and i remember i was one of the few people in my guild that had the Shattered Halls key, so anytime i wanted to find a group for SHH i would also write "got the key" and people just threw whispers at me like one dollar bills in a strip club (not really). The truth is, most people knew how hard SHH was and no one really signed up for a 3 hour wipe fest, which was almost guaranteed with an unprepared and undergeared group. But i really wanted that Thrallmar tabard man, because my main was an Orc shaman and i wanted to have the best orc tabard out there and for that you needed to reach exalted with Thrallmar. I remember during one challenging run, we had a slightly weak tank so when it came to those 7 orc groups i offered to tank one of them, while the hunter also tanked one of the tough mobs just to keep the pressure off the tank so he doesnt die instantly. I was a tough enhancement shaman and always kept a good dungeon shield with me for just such an occasion, and boy, i have to tell you i tanked the hell out of that giant red orc, with all kinds of defensive buffs, stamina food and self heals i lasted about 2 min then i died, but the tank managed to keep 3 of the big ones on him and we eventually won the fight with 2 people left standing. To this day i still remember that being my favorite PVE fight out of all TBC! I dont remember too many epic raid moments, but i will always remember when i off tanked a mean red orc with my shaman in SHH! When i was ressed i yelled a satisfied FOR THE HORDE! and we all rejoiced after that extremely tough fight.
PS: Of course when you got to 5:42 i had to go search all those ancient YT videos and surprisingly they are ALL still up and they are funny as heck! XD
my favourite series! even though i started on wotlk, this resonates the nostalgia deep inside!
Storys of yours are already so nice to listen, but adding music from FFVII that makes these videos unique and even better. Keep going madseason!
I dont play wow for years.. But i love to see your videos its bring too much nostalgia for me.... those are some great times....
I really really really miss midnight launches and the camaraderie in the queues. It was such a good time the excitement and furore of it all. Aaaaaargh, TIME YOU BASTARD.
I do miss the days of Scion, Archaic and Legacy of Honor.
Hell yeah brother, Khadgar since March 2005
@@madseasonshow August 2005 here. I was actually in Archaic ever briefly during your TK progression as a Resto shaman, They kept benching me lol
i love this series great to see a new episode
Your videos are incredibly awesome.
"Rage bar full in real life." HAHAHAHAAA!! 🤣🤣 This ish made me Crack up.
SO GLAD YOURE BACK!!
I love that Heroics are your version of "gone fishin'". Just cracking open a cold one and losing a few hours in the monotony.
I miss the time where we didn't know sh*t and everything was new
That's why I like to move towards poorly known new games. Until the mainstream audience knows about it and ruined everything with their meta and guides.
now even people making raid boss guide before the raid is launch lol...
Its always fun to be lost in a new game where you dont know anything and even the smallest amount progress and understanding makes you feel like a genius, you gawk and awe at each new area and get your shit kicked in during any new run of a dungeon or raid, then the tremendous joy of finally clearing that hellhole after what must have been 5 hours and 20 runs is just incredable
That's why playing BC or Classic right now is just not the same at all
@@Immagonko this ^ 1st time classic was a bit closer, lots of folks from retail tried it out and it was another cuppa tea entirely. But yeah for tbc I wasn't hyped at all, specially with all the sneaky gimme money stuff goin' around.
14:31 nice McConnell impression
I really enjoy your videos. Good memories.
Man, that Slave Pens story reminds me, say what you will about BFA, but my casual guild went into Mechagon when it was still a mythic-only mega dungeon and we had the time of our lives!
We spent hours wiping on most of the bosses, but when we finally cleared the whole place, we couldn't have been happier. It was a real challenge that we all conquered together, an experience I'll treasure forever, and one I wouldn't have gotten with a hardcore progression guild that would have had it on farm the first day.
That ree story, holy moly.
That Reeeee got me, thanks for putting out such high quality content.
I played Rift for 4 years from release in 2011 until 2014. It was much better than Cataclysm! Nothing will ever beat Vanilla though!
Bro... A+ sense of humor 😂 This was your most savage one yet.
Lotro was absolutely amazing.
I've just started playing it because tbc just isn't what I want these days and I figured I'd give it a go. Lvl 29 now and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and friendly folks there. No drama
Welcome back Madseason!
IT’S BACK. THANK YOU MAD SEASON!
Burning Crusade the movie was sooooo good. I used to watch that all the time. I wish there was a higher quality version available.
Been waiting for this one
Dang dude i feel like the jokes were particularly spot on in this one my dude not that all your vids arent good but damn this one really had me rolling haha good job dude!!
Did you ever actually kill that dude at the end that night?
I never really got into raiding as much until BC and Wrath. Glad I waited. Ended up in a great guild during BC and am still friends with some that have long since stopped playing. So many good times, especially wiping on the Lich King. I definitely miss those days. Haven't played the game this year at all, or half of last year.
I am new to the WoW, just started playing 2 weeks ago and damn I see that I started playing way too late.
You are like 13 years too late
Big true
either you are very young or lived on the back of the moon for the last 15 years
@@GiruxxxNiixxx bro not everyone has been attached to their keyboards their whole life
That doesn't matter if you're having fun. I've been playing the Starter Edition, running around as a level 20 and been having a blast playing through vanilla/cata, Outland, Northrend and even Pandaria. Warlords of Draenor so far hasn't been able to grab me like the others. Maybe it's because they called me a hero, champion and commander in the first 5 minutes of gameplay... Like calm the fuck down - I don't even have a Garrison yet! I hate that. Praise without hardship is just an empty gesture.
"The trash mobs were in the mirror."
Mythic+ is a blast with friends and a nightmare with anyone else.
Getting Champion of the Naaru and Hand of Adal are my most celebrated video game achievements. Modern players just wouldn't understand
My local Gamestop had a line going around the block the day the first expansion released. I'd heard that from the employees there when I went to get my copy a few weeks after release.
I will never forget that moment I first went through the portal. I wondered how we were going to get past all the ?? mobs.
I recall how some of the playerbase was upset that the majority of their epics were mostly worthless going into Outland. I simply enjoyed having better greens to choose from out of the AH.
That 007 Goldeneye soundtrack always gets me
Back then we made chat "heroics till morning"
Best times
Dude I legit get excited to see a new madseason video lol 😂
We need more of these
Sick video, contains good humor.
Yesssssssssss man! Best series on CZcams!!!
Amazing video as ussual!
I havent been playing tbc but still excited for any new madseason show
I love this so much
Man, I missed this dude.
Quagmirran. That brings back memories. I farmed him for quite a while for the haste trinket. Was totally worth it, though, as I played an Arc/Frost mage back then. I actually rocked that trinket through most of BT.
Return of the king
Love this series.
4:00 bro that transition gave me chills
I played from beginning of WotLK to the end of Cata. When I quit I was top 5 DPS on my server, Muradin (Horde). Unholy DK. Our guild was server 2nd ICC 10-man Heroic...I remember finally rolling and getting Deathbringer's Will...Ah, the memories...
Started playing WoW in the original open beta and through release. Played the first year or so up through introduction of PvP systems and battlegrounds (original AV is one of the all-time great gaming experiences), and into the introduction of the the higher tier dungeons. Eventually grew to dislike the direction the game was going in and quit never stepping foot into TBC. When I heard there was flying mounts it was the ultimate confirmation that all that was truly great about the first year of WoW was watered down, dead or soon would be. And that the devs had no intention of making a return to what had made it so great in the first place.
In some alternate universe there's a WoW that expanded on the "game as toy" approach the game was originally developed under. Something that was widely approachable, but not on rails and streamlined to an assembly line degree. Something wide and messy and that created player and faction interactions in the open world and felt legitimately alive. Where players often made their own endgame fun. Hell, made their own midgame fun. We used to form regular raids between XR and Astranaar made of up of lowbies in their teens and 20s simply for the fun of it. Ashenvale would sometimes look like a civil war battle with the lines of Horde vs Alliance battling and skirmishing up and down it for hours. All just for the fun of it, and because we all hated the other faction with a sublimely bitter and bloodthirsty vengeance. No gear or progression gained. Just for the fun and satisfaction.
Heroics with the boys. Dudes rock
Missed this memories series so much. Also evolution of wow. Please keep coming back to these!!!
And all along, the WOW killer was WOW.
back in the day I had no idea of wtf to do xD , and never heard of the abbreviation BIS! now is full guides of everything, even for mages solo dungeons ... WOW!
TBC was magical. Especially before some patches where they nerfed some of the good stuff.
And Heroics sure was a marvel, they were tough as nails and actually made you recognize each type of mob and their abilities.
Not to mention the dread of trying to get a low drop rate purple from some of the bosses, and never dropping, ah yes pure torture fun.
for me it was the tanking sword from the mechinar i believe
@@goodytushoes4328 When I read the above comment I immediatelly thought of the sword ... never dropped
"game is too easy" -> proceeds to makes the game even easier minmaxing everything.
So true people don't wanna challange themselves they want blizz to challange them but these guys forget there are lots of people who dont min max or play meta classes and these guys have to be able to complete the same content. Otherwise the game would be broken if u can't progress playing a certain class.
I remember this. The lag on the first few days was unplayable and I ended up walking away for a month and then came back.
Wonderful memories.
Really appreciate you always bringing up SWG. Our MMO/game timelines seem around the same. Not sure if you're going to see this but did you dabble with CU/NGE during BC? Any plans to try out SWGemu once its out?
That final fantasy -music: ❤️
Really good stuff
"they found the trash mob in the mirror" dayum
Honestly, TBC questing still holds up. I love going through Zangarmarsh and Netherstorm, and the other zones are good too I guess.
My guild transitiones smoothly, having 2 raid groups. Each one has about 3 rogues and 2 warriors
13:57 flashbacks to old CZcams, Ventrilo harassment vids.. good times. Thanks lmao
