It was absolute hell working on this video - I should have just done it live. My hard drive couldn't keep up with my GPU encoder so I ended up with like a 5fps, 23 minute video. It was unwatchable. But I didn't want to re-record the commentary, so I spliced in some higher framerate video and then gave up. FUCK IT. If this video doesn't make sense and you can't figure out bots, FUCK IT. I QUIT. You're on your own!

To everyone asking about bots in your party not accepting quests: you have to go into the server configuration and turn off AutoAccept quests. Bots in your party will not take the same quests as you if AutoAccept is on. Turn it off and bots will now accept the same quests as you. AutoComplete is fine. Side note: bots will not pick up quest items off world objects (that you have to right click on) nor will they get credit for “explore” quests so you will have to complete these for them manually. Either give them the item with the .additem command or complete the quest for them with the .quest command (use .commands because I don’t remember the exact one but it’s something like that.)
I don't think that's true. Quests where they pickup items off bodies seem to auto complete when YOU turn it in regardless if they have the quantity in their bags or not.

I'm from MN also. Instead of hiring random bots, you can enable in the playerbot config to log in your alt characters on that account. Then you have full control over their class, race, talents and gear. And their names.
Yup I mentioned that somewhere in a video - I just never used the option. AiPlayerbot.AllowPlayerBots = 1 But then I fear this setting. I have it set to 2 (all players) right now. I guess that would mean people can log my character in? I don't like that idea! # Selfbot permission level (0 = disabled, 1 = gm only (default), 2 = all players, 3 = activate on login)
There is a setting for logging alts, and another for other accounts. If alts are enabled but not accounts, you don't have to worry about others using your bots.
Love the video, can't wait to try it when i have a chance! Do you know if the bots know all the WotLK raid mechanics or do you have to hand hold them? Asking because otherwise this game just changes into a glorified bot controlling game instead of you just enjoying the class you like. A lot of raid mechanics require groups to split up during boss fights...and since there's no communication with bots here that can happen before a boss fight i wonder if being able to fully clear all raids really works out or not.
so gotta question for ya Nirv, is there any documentation around i can read on setting up these bots to actually raid TBC ? i know it may sound dumb but id love to experience black temple again without having to join a private server etc. do the bots avoid any mechanics ? do they actually prioritize heals correctly ? appreciate your very hard efforts in setting this up
In the worldserver config file, you can limit the server to TBC I think. I never did it before but people said you can. I wouldn't doubt it because you can really do anything you want with this - it's open source!
Appreciate the effort Nirv! Maype a stupid question, but at which point can I be sure that character progression is saved? Is it save in the database in real time, or only once I stopped the server? I dont quite get it sorry 😲
saved in real time. You can also type .saveall any time in game and it will save all chars right then as they are. You can also even type .pdump write FILENAME YOURCHARACTERNAME and it will dump your entire character into one file that you can load any time to any account on your server, even duplicated!

Hello, thank you so so much for this guide! it took me a while but i got it up and running! i got a small question, lets say we teleport to a spot that does not exist in game anymore, like the programmers or designer island. this leads to a crash. It seems like a character becomes unplayable at that point. on every attempt to get back in game, it's crashing again. is there a way to force a specific character back to orgrimmar or so trough server commands?
Also if you try to add x levels above 80, same thing happens but you can get back in in this case. it was funny to see myself at level 255 for a min🤣 so be careful with adding levels, not that this messes something up too
Oh I had that problem before too. I fixed it by using HeidiSQL to connect to my database (the 0.0.0.0 thing we changed during install in my install txt file). I had to manually go to acore_auth database, characters, and then modify the X Y coordinates on my character. You can just change it to any other X Y coords you see on any other character in the database list. If you don't understand, here is a screenshot of HeidiSQL I just took so you can see what to modify. Once you modify you should be able to just log in. abs.freemyip.com:84/api/public/dl/QaRv7Dsw?inline=true I'm not an expert but that's the right direction I think.
I must gave missed something, but I don't have the summon button for the addon. I have all the other ones, but not the summon one... Any idea? Despite the problems you had with this video, it's still full of useful information so thank you very much for spending the time to do it :)
Just figured it out! Right click on the button that is on the far right, but just to the left of the icon that minimizes the unbot interface, once the row of abilites pops up, hover over them until you see "summon a bot", then right click to set the shortcut to the addon interface
So how does gearing work for these bots? I know they initialize with gear that equal to or less than a certain item level is that based on you? Like if you are 63ilvl then your bots also will be around that?
By default, it's set to 1.0 which means each time you initialize them, they are automatically equipped gear equal to what you are wearing. I show where you can change that in my part 1 tutorial here: czcams.com/video/DwJ6OfPophw/video.html However, I found a bug shortly after that where you currently need to set it to 2.0 or your low level bots go nude when you press initialize. But yes, 1.0 is what I generally run as which is default.

can you play as a tank and have a regular group with you, keeping the pace of your pulls etc? would be great to solo play everything from vanilla to the end of wotlk that way

Im not using the bot addon .- I only type eat,drink,summon in groupchat . Has taken me to level 73 . Just doing dungeons. Just add randombots 3 lvl higher than me and nice equipped . Works like followers in Dragon but better -
I've set up Virtualbox, put in the iso but when I want to start it, it pops up the new window briefly, closes it and then gives me a red sign and says "aborted", next to the file within VirtualBox. Can't find anything concrete with google, since I have absolutely no experience with these programs : (

@@dagowow Oh. Maybe you need to get into your BIOS on your PC and enable AMD-V - AMD Virtualization. Find what PC/Laptop you have, find out how to enter the bios, find that feature and turn it ON.

Did you summon them using the "woman" icon, the second to the far right of the unbot bar? You have to click the bar to expand all the buttons and find the girl. This is the way to summon a bot and be its "master" for full control, just as I said in this very video.
Oh excuse me. Yeah when the bots are your alts, they don't act the same as summoned bots. I tried it yesterday for the first time, so you know probably more than me about it. My hunter "alt" ran out of arrows and I had to log on to him and put the arrows back in his "paper doll" slot or whatever. I don't like doing that. It might be better to just use regular bots. If you knew how to program you can probably make a lot of changes yourself because there really are no limits as to what you can do - you just have to have the skill - which me don't. ME DON'T
Another option is to just use bots while leveling, and when they're higher level I think you can make them "yours" by dumping their data to a file, and then loading it to your account. Let's say the bot's name is BANANA. Type .pdump write BANANA11 BANANA and it will create a file on your linux PC called BANANA11. You can then use something like .pdump load BANANA11 snpwodspriest (or whatever your account name is) I think that would work. I haven't tried it for bots but I've tried it for my own characters. You have to read lots and lots and lots. No single person knows all.
@@Painbow9553 problem is the regular bots dont have the race/name that u want them to have as alts, if I could modify regular bots it would solve the issue
You should record a video of you inviting the bot and then taking a quest and showing what happens. I just don't have time to personally help each person asking all these questions and having all these problems. There is an azerothcore discord you could try, or try reading the azerothcore websites. I really don't know.
You can click the "strategy editor" on your unbot bar. I don't know if there is a setting there exactly for that. Maybe you can create it? It's open source.
Hey there ;) I got everything up and running, but when i reinitialize bots after leveling up, they keep getting low level / no equipment I changed the AiPlayerbot.AutiInitEquipLevelLimitRatio to 1.1 as in the guide Anyone can help?
@@Painbow9553so the command takes my Gearscore and multiplies it with 1.1 because of the command in the config and then tries to equip items onto the bot with that combined Gearscore ? tinkered a little bit and found out: replace the "auto" in the ingame command ".playerbot bot init=auto" with a number (i tried increments of 10) -> 10 = Itemlevel 2 20 = Itemlevel 4 ... so every increment of 10 equals 2 item level thought maybe i share it here ;)
@@Painbow9553 .playerbot bot init=auto is the standard one that gets used when you use the icon from Unbot That command takes your CURRENT itemlevel (lets say 10) and then multiplies it with 1.1 IF you changed the setting according to your tutorial so technically the bot would get gear that puts it at 11 item level total you can type this command in the chat window ingame and replace the auto with any number: what i found out is: number : 5 = total itemlevel of the gear the bot will get (if possible at the level of the player) lets say you type .playerbot bot init=200 the bot would get gear with a total item level of 40 (200/5 = 40) you have to target a specific bot in you group to get this to work or type a * after the command so you reinitialize all bots in your group

I can't get them to do talents and gear unless I ".level -1" myself. init all the bots and then do a ".level 1" to get me back to 80. Haven't seen anyone else complain about this issue yet.
could you tell me how to make it so the various races all start from their own starting area and fan out from there, instead of teleporting all over the place when they start the game?
That is the very thing I tried to do when I first set up these bots. I specifically mentioned that I don't want to see blood elves in the undead starting area, but I couldn't find any answers. I'm sure it's possible to do, but I'm not a programmer. It would be great and maybe it'll be an option in the future, but as of now I couldn't find out how to do it. It might take deep source code modification - I don't know. It's all pretty new actually, these bots. It's amazing we even have them.
@@Painbow9553 Theres the setting in the config file # Bots automatically teleport to another place for leveling on levelup # Only for random bots # Default: 1 (enabled) AiPlayerbot.AutoTeleportForLevel = 0 but as you can see, I have it set to 0 so this doesn't seem to be it. I'm not a programmer, but I had a look in the code to see if there was anything that stood out, and I can't see anything. That setting defaults to false though. I put in an issue on github and will see what comes back.
@@Painbow9553 tbh I got sick of it and just disabled random teleporting completely in the code In file RandomPlayerbotMgr.cpp in the function void RandomPlayerbotMgr::RandomTeleport(Player* bot, std::vector& locs, bool hearth) I just put a return right at the top: { return; and recompiled it. No more random teleports. At. All. There needs to be a config option for this. Will see what comes back on that GitHub issue, maybe if theres no answer by the weekend I'll submit a patch or something.
I'm curious though because I don't think they're able to take boats or even flight paths. Our own bots don't follow us onto the boats and I can't recall ever seeing a bot landing from a gryphon or leaving on one unless they're one of my bots. hmmm

You have to select the bot and keep pressing the "initialize bot" button which is in the first row of icons on the Unbot addon. Each time you initialize his spec changes. I covered that in this video.

Interesting. Have you considered starting over? It might be a good idea just to get more familiar and comfortable. It shouldn't be doing that. The bots sometimes speak in game depending on your config file (I think). They'll tell you that they are avoiding AOE and things. I'm new to all this myself so I'm no expert.

Enabled both? There's 2 addons for Unbot. Two folders.

If you knew how to program you can probably make a lot of changes yourself because there really are no limits as to what you can do - you just have to have the skill - which me don't. ME DON'T
Another option is to just use bots while leveling, and when they're higher level I think you can make them "yours" by dumping their data to a file, and then loading it to your account.
Let's say the bot's name is BANANA.
Type .pdump write BANANA11 BANANA
and it will create a file on your linux PC called BANANA11. You can then use something like
.pdump load BANANA11 snpwodspriest
(or whatever your account name is)
I think that would work. I haven't tried it for bots but I've tried it for my own characters. You have to read lots and lots and lots. No single person knows all.
@@Painbow9553 problem is the regular bots dont have the race/name that u want them to have as alts, if I could modify regular bots it would solve the issue

Do you know how to make the bots take the same quests as me? I wanna have my own group with which I level instead of constantly summoning randoms.
They should automatically take the quests when you do. They whisper you updates on quests as they get them.

You should record a video of you inviting the bot and then taking a quest and showing what happens. I just don't have time to personally help each person asking all these questions and having all these problems.
There is an azerothcore discord you could try, or try reading the azerothcore websites. I really don't know.

You can click the "strategy editor" on your unbot bar. I don't know if there is a setting there exactly for that. Maybe you can create it? It's open source.
anyone know how to make bots not roll for rare items? Or at least how to make em not equip it if they get it

I got everything up and running, but when i reinitialize bots after leveling up, they keep getting low level / no equipment
I changed the AiPlayerbot.AutiInitEquipLevelLimitRatio to 1.1 as in the guide

I think its a bug. Dont try initializing them until maybe level 9 or 10 or something.

@@Painbow9553so the command takes my Gearscore and multiplies it with 1.1 because of the command in the config and then tries to equip items onto the bot with that combined Gearscore ?
tinkered a little bit and found out:
replace the "auto" in the ingame command ".playerbot bot init=auto" with a number (i tried increments of 10)
-> 10 = Itemlevel 2
20 = Itemlevel 4
...
so every increment of 10 equals 2 item level
thought maybe i share it here ;)

@@Painbow9553 .playerbot bot init=auto is the standard one that gets used when you use the icon from Unbot
That command takes your CURRENT itemlevel (lets say 10) and then multiplies it with 1.1 IF you changed the setting according to your tutorial
so technically the bot would get gear that puts it at 11 item level total
you can type this command in the chat window ingame and replace the auto with any number:
what i found out is: number : 5 = total itemlevel of the gear the bot will get (if possible at the level of the player)
lets say you type .playerbot bot init=200
the bot would get gear with a total item level of 40 (200/5 = 40)
you have to target a specific bot in you group to get this to work
or type a * after the command so you reinitialize all bots in your group
@@Elder_Charizard and @painbow9553 Thank you for the help and tips. When I get home, I'll try this specific command with my level 80 bots. I can't get them to do talents and gear unless I ".level -1" myself. init all the bots and then do a ".level 1" to get me back to 80. Haven't seen anyone else complain about this issue yet.
could you tell me how to make it so the various races all start from their own starting area and fan out from there, instead of teleporting all over the place when they start the game?
That is the very thing I tried to do when I first set up these bots. I specifically mentioned that I don't want to see blood elves in the undead starting area, but I couldn't find any answers.
I'm sure it's possible to do, but I'm not a programmer.
It would be great and maybe it'll be an option in the future, but as of now I couldn't find out how to do it. It might take deep source code modification - I don't know.
It's all pretty new actually, these bots. It's amazing we even have them.

Theres the setting in the config file

AiPlayerbot.AutoTeleportForLevel = 0
but as you can see, I have it set to 0 so this doesn't seem to be it.
I'm not a programmer, but I had a look in the code to see if there was anything that stood out, and I can't see anything. That setting defaults to false though.
I put in an issue on github and will see what comes back.
@@Painbow9553 tbh I got sick of it and just disabled random teleporting completely in the code
In file RandomPlayerbotMgr.cpp
in the function
void RandomPlayerbotMgr::RandomTeleport(Player* bot, std::vector& locs, bool hearth)
I just put a return right at the top:

and recompiled it. No more random teleports. At. All.
There needs to be a config option for this. Will see what comes back on that GitHub issue, maybe if theres no answer by the weekend I'll submit a patch or something.

I'm curious though because I don't think they're able to take boats or even flight paths. Our own bots don't follow us onto the boats and I can't recall ever seeing a bot landing from a gryphon or leaving on one unless they're one of my bots. hmmm

They usually whisper you about the status of quests. There are quest options in the config but I don't know them all. Sorry!

Hey! How select bot role?
You have to select the bot and keep pressing the "initialize bot" button which is in the first row of icons on the Unbot addon.
Each time you initialize his spec changes. I covered that in this video.

Interesting. Have you considered starting over? It might be a good idea just to get more familiar and comfortable. It shouldn't be doing that.
The bots sometimes speak in game depending on your config file (I think). They'll tell you that they are avoiding AOE and things. I'm new to all this myself so I'm no expert.

Did some dungeon runs and the Bots really did a god job. Pretty impressive seeing the tank acting like a human.

@@healtheworld657 Absolutely agree! I haven't had this much fun with WoW in years. The best part is knowing our servers cannot be taken down and we decide on everything. How lucky we are to have all those devs working on this and to open source it!
