Fabrication d'un plastron 15c acier rouler a froid 16g et 18g. Les images ont été tourner il y as trois ans. The making of a 15c breastplate in mild steel 16g and 18g,
I am also just beginning to make armor, and as said many times here, it is truly inspirational to watch you work. To those asking about the thickness, he says it is 1.5 mm witch translates to between 16 and 17 gauge steel. Great thickness to work with, anything thicker would be too heavy as a full suit.
This is definitely a reason to learn French, if only to be able to learn from you. Vous êtes vraiment une inspiration, le merci pour votre travail, travail professionnel et vos vidéos stupéfiantes. You are truly an inspiration, thank you for your work, craftsmanship, and your amazing videos.
please continue to post videos Mr.Dube, ive only just discovered your videos recently but have had a strong interest in armoring/smithing.your videos have inspired me to build a gauntlet, vambrace, and a kind of floating elbow i guess.learning skills like this are ver hard to come by nowadays.thank you and have a good day
another magical video. seeing your work makes me want to go to my blacksmith right now even though its 130km away. Shaping metal is for me the most exciting work
Love your videos, makes me want to light up the propane forge and get on with some of the projects I have lying around the shop. Alas for lack of time. And having my wife sleeping above the shop doesn't help a bit.
Mesmerizing! I was only going to watch little bits, but I couldn't stop - the whole way through! GREAT production, great music, great work! how do you cut the initial sheets? Do you temper the steel at all? I favorited this!
who the frigg would give this a thumbs down?...Dube makes the best armor out there, posts videos basically giving up his secrets,to those who are interested......AHHH i see i had forgotten about jealousy.that explains that
The Armor looks very Italian. I like it! Hug I wish I could do that, the closes thing I got to that is maintaining AAVs in my drill weekends in the Marine Corps resaves. :/
This looks really nice, but you might want the lower backplate to overlap the top rather than vice versa. There is a chance that the point of the lower piece could be driven into the spine, or cause serious injuries in a hard fall, or impact.
@monkofzammy There are many ways to make a forge. First you will have to decide on the fuel, coal, charcoal or propane. I prefer to use a single propane torch directed through a big funnel over a chunk of ceramic insulation brick (for pottery ovens) the torch is fed with air from a fan (or vacuum cleaner turned backwards) which makes for a good deal of fuel efficiency. Otherwise a regular acetylene torch will work fine for sheet metal.
Excellent job. One question: were armors in medieval time that thin? I always thought they would be made of thicker steel sheets. What do you think would be the weight of a full body armor using the materials you used on that video? Thanks for the answer and greetings from Brazil!
sooo i have a question similiar to the chicken and the egg...when forging/smithing first started out wat did they use for the hammers? cuz u need a hammer to forge but how can u make one if there isnt one?
excusez moi des mots mais merde je suis sur le cul...je suis toujours tres impressionné de voir quelqu'un travailler et façonner le métal...j'aimerai vraiment faire le 100eme de ce que vous faites bravo...
Greart work! Did you use a museum piece as a model? What armor is it? Italian? I am asking because the shoulders look German. And the making of the back (upper part over under part) seems German, too. The breast plate looks Italian to me. Is it an Italian export armor?
You use the same kind of hammer for bending and for smoothing? I'm thinking about start making plate armor, since I've only made chainmail my entire armor-making career. Do you have any tutorial or something like that for starters? And how did you make the finishing job? Painted?
question from a beginner! Im working with 14 guage steel and wondering how to make a forge, since most videos and articles ive read seem to only be forges that are usefull for swords and arrow heads and thats it, nothing for wide lengthy peices of metal, so im wondering how do i come about making that or if their are any popular places that one could go to that would have forge to use.

Blacksmithing is art.
Is this pretty much how it is properly made or did it used to be heated with a forge or something?
Impressive.
5 star, Will it be good enough against longbow's crossbow's axes etc ?
Just starting this as well. Its good fun 'eh? What you working on?
if only i had the time, resources, and the knowledge to be able to learn and do this
hey were you using a rose bud tip for heating that up on the ends?
Am not sure what you mean, the this breast plate is made with 1.5mm thick mild steel sheet.
how many square feet/meters would you say are required for a suit like this?
Greart work! Did you use a museum piece as a model? What armor is it? Italian? I am asking because the shoulders look German. And the making of the back (upper part over under part) seems German, too. The breast plate looks Italian to me. Is it an Italian export armor?
