The ULTIMATE Helicopter on the market (CURRENTLY)

- I got the opportunity to ferry an Astar B3e from Saskatoon Saskatchewan to Abbotsford BC. In my opinion the Airbus H125 or also known as the Astar B3e is the best pilots helicopter on the market. It's expensive but it's incredible. It has the best power to weight ratio of almost any helicopter on the market while still having comfortable room for passengers and cargo.

2 altitude records are still held by two French helicopters, a LAMA AS315 reached the record altitude of 12442 meters ( 06 /21/1972 ) ( 40820.21 feet ) above the French town of ISTRES (approved by the FAI) and the highest altitude landing, a ECUREUIL ( SQUIRREL ) (ASTAR in USA ) AS350 B3 landed these skates at 8850 meters on top of the world, EVEREST!
Love that A-Star B-3e and this is a particularly pretty one. I guided Heliskiing for 11 seasons and then served as Safety Officer for an industry association in the U.S. for 6 years. The A-Stars were always the first choice of our pilots - over time I grew to understand why. Supremely smooth, even power, reliable and a joy to fly.
Enjoyed, thanks for taking me along. As always wishing safe travels and fair weather
The weather looked great overall for this time of year and the distance you traveled. Great ride along video Mischa, thanks for taking the time in making it, well done. Beautiful machine I must say as well. :) NC
AWESOME!!!!! Thanks to all of you for taking us along on a beautiful flight !!
Low hours guy here, 5 total. I'm not clear as to whether you actually touched down on the snow covered mountain top. If you did, just amazing!!
Oh man, one of my favourite videos in a while 🥰 you and your brother have been such an inspiration to me! I started flight school here in alberta in September and I live just a few nautical miles from where you flew over Drumheller! My school is in the pretty town of okotoks and we are so lucky to share a hangar with a fleet of Astar helicopters! It’s inspiring to work around them everyday and to have the opportunity to get hands on once in a while. We don’t fly the Astars, we are learning in the R22 and the R44, but the AMEs in the hangar are so good about showing us around their machines. Our instructor is amazing and we are learning with the intention of one day graduating to fly them. I can’t wait to reach that level of awesome! What a treat for you to have the opportunity to ferry that beauty, one day soon im hoping to have the chance to come fly with you guys for some mountain training. I love your videos! I was so excited to watch this one. Im also looking forward to the first flight in the HX50! Thanks for all you do. Im living my dream because of your influence. Thank you so much and god bless
Wow amazing, thanks for that. That’s so cool to hear.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing the delivery flight experience.
What an amazing machine! Thanks for bringing us along.
Wow what a great video and an amazing helicopter! Fantastic work. Love all your videos.
We use this type for helicopter evacuation on Mount Kilimanjaro Tanzania. AS350 B3e, the only machine that can do the job at the mountain
When the pilot says wooops, It really gets your attention.
Beautiful aircraft, and a great flight. Thanks for taking us along😎👍
Nice!
Totally enjoy your videos and adventures 😊
Cool video. I flew the AS-550 in an attack version and really enjoyed it. It truly is a workhorse.
EXCELLENT TOUR & OPERATION OF THE BIRD- GREAT JOB- THANK YOU FOR SHARING
I currently own a AS350B3 2930 empty weight… freaking powerhouse of a heli. Used to have a R66, never going back.
Who would though... At least if the money is not a limiting factor.
Great choice.
Great video! We get a lot of mountain flying here as well. Amazing how airspeed is still only 120 knots. Jason’s HX50 design to remove all that drag for higher air speed will be a refreshing improvement on todays helicopters. Little overkill having G750 and 650, but thanks for tip on ETA menu option.
Really happy for you! That is a really nice looking helicopter. I started my flight training in Red Deer.
Awesome Mischa 👌 great job reporting..
Nice one buddy the a star looks awesome with this one you have a wiper on the bubble as well very posh my friend. Take care lads and happy flying to you phil.
Great video! Love it!
It’s a great video Brother . Stay safe
Great trip!!
Wow, just think tough that Rotor system and blade's are, that's a beautiful Ride....
Nice machine! I fly in A-Stars every winter as a heli ski passenger and they are great. This one looks like it has all the bells and whistles
I've done some flying in an A-Star B350... they're VERY nice. Great visibility and tons of power. I'm excited about the new helicopter you're going to be marketing... eagerly waiting the first flight.
12:20 is where i did most of my upper air training for my PPL. It was Kootenay Lake, not Upper Arrow.
I put a lot of hours in our A-SAtars, They were B2's though. Plus a Twin Star. Great times. Retired now, miss it so much.
thanks 4 the ride!
Danke!
Love the B3E. I fight fires for firehawk and its just such a perfect machine for it. Gonna miss it as im transitioning into the hawk soon
Loved it. Wow!
wow!! thank you for that.
Good Luck with this beauty....
Higher Ascending ✅
Awesome stuff ❤️
Never a dull moment with you.
Great video and nice helicopter.
Best helicopter for mountain works. Have fun guys !
Great video
Lucky to have flown this beast of a machine.. they are ultimate for high alt ops..
Looking forward to listen to you and HILL on the 16th. Greetings from South Africa.
Great video, thanks! I wish the camera you were using didn't do this automatic background blurring thing, made it difficult to see the instruments at times.
that’s how cameras work 😂😂
Man that bird has gotten around! She used to be based just east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania here in the US. I’ve seen that bird countless times and have gotten my fair share of photos of it. Used to fly around here as N161LG
A dream helicopter
Thanks for the beautiful views guys!
Great video of a great machine! I have a feeling that you even wear your helmet while driving and sleeping. :)
She’s a beauty
Nice video, but the DOF is also killing it.
Yes not sure if was intentional or not. But irritating and not helpful.
Nice video. Did I miss it or did you edit out all the rough ride in the mountians after Calgary?
Really cool helicopter!
I grew up in Cranbrook - nice to see the airport. Spent many days out there. I'm enjoying the YVR living now tho.
What lovely heli 😍
Beautiful helicopter…
3:59 "just got a little bit of friction tonight" lol
AStars are beautiful, very smooth and quiet, extremely comfortable. Took a little bit of getting used to applying right pedal instead of left and I found them to be a little slippery IGE as I'm used to Robinson(s) 22's, 44's and and Bell(s) 206 BII and L but other than that I really enjoyed the brief time I got to spend flying them. I believe the B3 is quite powerful, I only ever got to fly a D model. Looks like there was a 412 (perhaps a CH-146 CF Griffon?) parked at CYXE as you departed?
I knew these as the AS350 but I guess the name has changed to H125 since Airbus took over?
An AS350 B3 is the first ans only helicopter that landed on Mont Everest for 2 times and afterword reached 30,000 ft alt
This is not an understatement when you specify it is the best helicopter in the world
It is not the only helicopter that can do that, it is just the only one that someone has tried it in. 8850 metres is not that high. An AS350 B2 holds the altitude record at 12954 metres, but once again, no one else has tried as it is not necessary. If an insurance company allowed and people took the risk. An CH54 has achieved level flight at 11000 metres.
@@chippyjohn1 Good to know
It is pretty impressive
Great footage although that was Kootenay Lake you flew over not the Arrow. To the south was Creston. You flew over Kootenay Bay\Grey Creek\Balfour on the way to Nelson via the west arm of the lake. Nakusp was actually Riondel and to the north is Kaslo and eventually Cooper Creek and Meadow creek at the top of the lake. Im sure you later realized...
Great 👍😃
I'll be asking Santa for one! Sweet ride!
Looks like you're still dealing with your recent Pineapple Express experience. Hope you'll all fare well.
Nice video guys. Is this the same as the Ecureuil with a new name? Your very lucky to have such tools/ toys. Enjoy🥂
Yep, it is the Squirrel alright.
You need to come to Langley and fly one with a 4-axis autopilot.
Does seem like the best place for fuel tanks at the end
The yellowstone heli!
I have been to Toronto twice and watching the desolation of the scenery brought back memories of the weather/cold/atmosphere alienness of a country so unlike my own.
Just a quick question aren't you concerned about the fuel line on the ground kicking up as you're landing?
Nice glass cockpit set up.
I am thinking the three most successful helicopters ever would be the 206, Aloutte 111 and the B2 which will likely be eclipsed by the B3
High altitude rescue beast
Great video,, absolutely beautiful scenery, you guys made my morning, thanks.
You look like Sancho!!!
Background blur, is that software or from lens?
BCH latest acquisition? Poor Bell, probably thought it had a sale coming. What application is the Astar going to fill? 😀
I gotta buy this
Love youououououou flight
Stunning aircraft. Perfect helicopter!
Great video and helicopter!
That exposed carbon fuselage 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
That thing is sexy! Hope to start flying those when I'm done on this tuna boat!
You don't seem to be old enough to remember. But we used to call these falling stars. So many lawsuits and lives lost with this helicopter
at 7:23, mixed up torque and N1?
When was this filmed?
Greetings from North Carolina US, beautiful flight and ride! On a side note, I went to South Carolina, and saw a putt putt (mini golf course) themed like you survive a crash on a tropical island, and they had a real decommissioned Robinson 44 bright yellow attached to the display top of a fake mountain, I wish I snapped a picture to send you. I was at first sad (yeah I feel for machines lol) that it was stuck there and not flying anymore, but then I said at least it's not destroyed and still has visitors. It's like the one you have at BC Helicopters, but bright yellow. Anyway love the channel and sending you, family, and the rest a very Happy and safe Christmas and awesome New Year!
What an awesome flight and video. Good to see Sanco as PIC.
You like the A-Star better than the EC-130, 135 etc? My local police wrecked their MD-500 NOTAR (killed the AP), and replaced it with an EC. I see that you never hear about the NOTAR anymore. I got a ride along in the the EC, and it seemed like a super nice heli. The cops said they love the thing. Of course the main rotor turns the "wrong" way ;-)
The FLI shows 85% in the cruise and I can't see which limit it is, torque or temp? Airbus says that fast cruise in the H125 is 140kts. At the time I was looking at the numbers, you were clear of turbulence, so I'm wondering why you were flying at 115kts - was it to burn less fuel? This is not a criticism, I'm just interested (I have never been rated on the 125, but still dreaming!)
It is not also known as the airbus h. It is the airbus h125, the evolution of aetrospatiale's Ecureuil...
bellissimo. ciao da isola di SARDEGNA....ITALIA
Given that you're Canadian, I'm not sure whether you're using British or US gallons. There's a big difference between the two. I prefer metric because it's universal worldwide. All the best from the UK.
Pretty sure they’re using US gallons
Aviation is always US gallons, never seen UK gallons.
@@sheldonholy5047 And 50 of them per hour! Ten times more than my 150! (Which I can barely afford)
It’s a mountain goat made for mighty himalayas
Living the dream … hi from the Uk , well done.
awesome video!!! and give Sanch a kick in the butt for wearing a headset vs a bucket!!! ;)
What’s the price tag for a copter like this one?
May be I missed it did you purchase this helicopter?
How many Kms do you get on a full tank in this bird ? Also where did you fly from to reach Calgary ? Cheers thanks for another good video !
Good Helicopter, but "ULTIMATE" is debatable. Great for hot/high, but at lower MSL operation, (if you must have a single Engine) I prefer the B407 GXI.
I'd almost kill for this job. I can't keep moving and being away from my son making pennies to fly tours. I need an Astar seat =(
As with all eurocopters, keep the power on the fli between 75-80 and they’ll burn 75% of the max fuel. Appreciate at altitude you need more power. Rated on the b3e, miss flying one.
Why did the copilot want the FLI above 80% on takeoff at 3:30? What was he saying about cycles?
@@SpaceForceRecon All Eurocopters record cycle times, only understood by the engineers. If running an engine power check then you'd need to pull 85% at least, till it's finished it's thing.
Camera is doing a weird focus/depth of field thing….
I have a question on the hiring process when trying to get a job as a pilot , when jobs ask for example 1500 hrs of flight time does it matter if your hours where all done in a r22 or r44 when in the job your trying to get would have you flying a larger helicopter ?
Hours are very important on any machine but hours on type can also be important. Especially turbine hours.
