    Armillatox works to treat verticillium wilt. I treated a Japanese maple 20 years ago and it’s still very much alive. I poured it all down the trunk and watered the soil with it. Verticillium wilt is a soil born fungus and armillatox is a fungicide amongst other things.

    Sure could use an experts advice, over the holiday, my husband rescued a tree from some young neighbors that had planted up their yard nicely in Spring. They quickly realized what wasn't working in the garden.
    ** This particular tree, with its burlap and twine still attached, was being dug up. I asked the gardeners, oh no, it couldn't be? why, of course it started out, so vibrant in March, when they added it to the neighborhood. As we pass it often, I had noticed the wilting of the leaves, blackening in spots of some branches, but thought maybe shock. Now I know by your video and helpful wisdom. The sensitivity of the maple, its beautiful red twigs and little delicate leaves were dying visibly. I brought it home yesterday, immediately kept it away from all my other plants, in case, but once I took it out of the growers pot and unwrapped it, realizing they never did to begin with, the soil was like brown clay and had some grass growing out of the encasement. Omg, can we save it, should I prune it and will repotting on fresh soil help with earth worm castings or should I rinse off the clay like soil and check if the roots are rotted.

      Toss it! I tried to revive my favorite rose. Dug it up, fungicided bare roots, put in clean potting soil. Cut, bag, and toss the tree. Too late for me. Squirrels buried walnuts over from neighbor's infected walnut-my WHOLE YARD is dying. WAY too infectious to risk. Infected plants actually cannot be saved. His trees will pass-but he IS buying time.😢

    I have a catalpa tree I think has this. Maybe 25%of the leaves have turned brown and are dropping off. Some of the stems of the leaves are still green. It's 20-25 feet tall. The trunk is about 12 inches at the ground. Started 3-4 weeks ago. An old thread on youtube mentioned Sporgon. Any thoughts? I'm in Iowa.

    I'm assuming that the liquid you were pouring around the tree was penetrate. What was the dilution formula?

    • @JohnandBobs
      @JohnandBobs  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, it is Penetrate Liquid Biotiller. I like to put 1-8oz Penetrate in a big bucket w/ 2-4gallons water and then drench the area.

    Do you think I could avoid vert wilt by growing my strawberries in pots?

    • @JohnandBobs
      @JohnandBobs  Před rokem +1

      It does lessen the chances if you use a good quality potting soil. Strawberries do very well in good potting soil like "Black Gold". However, if you have a reasonably good quality soil and add life to it with our products or similar, there is an excellent possibility that your strawberries would never be plagued with verticillium wilt if planted in the ground. -John

    My problems started day 1 and I now give up, sadly. Neighbor's walnut has fully died of some wilt after season 2. Think squirrels can spread it via infected nuts? I used fungicide this spring, to no avail. ENTIRE YARD dying.

    I had a tree guy tell me that he thought what was going on with my crabapple tree was verticillium wilt but from what I’m reading it doesn’t seem to appear that it bothers crabapple trees? How do we know our soil is contaminated?

      I have a spring snow crabapple tree that has verticillium wilt and from what I gather mine was caused by too much water. Crabapple trees are resistant to this wilt, but not immune which is a big difference.

Does this sound like Verticillium Wilt? Anything I can do or is it to late?

    • @JohnandBobs
      @JohnandBobs  Před rokem +1

      Your description sounds like it could be verticillium wilt. Recovery from verticillium wilt is unpredictable - it is possible, but usually it's a difficult road to full recovery. What I do is care for it the best way I know how and monitor carefully. Trees can't live without leaves for long periods during the growing season, so I take that into account as i try to revive it. I'd make 3 applications of 10-15cups of our Blend over the root zone every 2 weeks and spray or drench 8oz of our Penetrate Liquid Biotiller in 2-3gallons of water over the Blend at each application. I'd also try to water it perfectly - put a lot of effort into not over watering and not under watering. The combination of the right amount of moisture w/ maximum nuutrients, enzymes, etc for your soil and your tree provides the best route to recovery for your Pistache if it is verticillium wilt or if its' sudden decline was due to some other cause/disease.
