The particle "ni" is used to indicate the place where a thing(s) or a person(s) is(or are) present and to mark one's goal or destination. "De" is used to indicate the place where an action occurs. In short, "ni" casts the sight upon a place, while "de" upon an action. In your example of replacing "de" with "ni", it wouldn't really make sense. But you were close!

These are actually great as a previous-self teaching student. I learnt the language's structure and composition inside and out (at least to a beginner's standard, up to topics like -teiru, -teiku, 'must/must not', conditionals, 'te mo ii', that sort of stuff) but I could never (and still can't) reliably converse in the language since I spent too much time on grammar. These videos are great since they teach beginners actual vocabulary to use, plus the MUCH EASIER -masu form of verbs as opposed to the regular dictionary form of verbs.
One thing I would love to see as a non-beginner watching your videos is Kanji for the words/sentences too. I feel like it's easier to understand the meaning of words as you progress into the intermediate territory and start to know what certain Kanji mean, as well as easier to break apart a sentence into its separate parts. But I get that this comment will make no difference now since these videos were made 5 years ago lol

Basics or not, I’ve listened to countless videos on teachers attempting to teach Japanese. All of them fall short of this woman here. I instantly picked it up. I’m glad I found this channel and subscribed after the first few videos. I’ve had a hard time forming sentences and with just 35 minutes of her videos it’s becoming a lot more clear. ありがとせんせい!

+restpack Less of a weeb than the rest of the commenters here commenting in full blown eye-bleeding Hiragana. And fuck off with you if you're just gonna insult people who are trying to learn. That guy made the effort to install a Japanese IME so they're clearly serious.

The is by far the best Japanese lesson on CZcams! It reminds me of the old "Let's Learn Japanese" lessons, but the speaker is more friendly and speaks better Japanese.

I’m a little confused. Have we covered how to say “I” am going to do something or just in general to do things? If so what’s the word for I am? Also, when are things negatives? Are specific words always negative like in French or only when you are saying you are not going to something ??? For example in 10:48 are you going with your friends or are they going without you?

i am also no further than this lesson but heres how i understood: you dont say "I" or "You" if you dont have to. When saying: Kyo depato ni ikimasu (today [to?] department store going) everyone will know that you're talking about yourself. A bunch of languages do this btw. I was also very confused because of this.
With negative forms I was also confused like you .I don't think this is like "I eat a cake" -- "A cake was eaten (by me)" So not passive/active voice it's just plainly about not doing something. Like "Do"--"Don't". I think it's like there was "Eat"--"Eatn't" or "Go"--"Gon't".
please someone tell me if i'm wrong.
