    Jodi and Nick react to Bob being Bob on Would I Lie to You. He claims he went to the Scottish coast to enjoy the Gulf Stream. He claims he wore masks and scared locals and was escorted out of town. It sounds rediculous but it’s Bob.

    The gulf stream bit is absolutely true: I remember a holiday on the west coast of Scotland when I was a child and we visited Culzean Castle which had gardens advertised as having plants only possible because of the way the gulf stream influences the climate... I remember the gulf stream aspect quite vividly. We did not, I hasten to add, wear latex masks though..

      True, I worked at the Kyle of Lochalsh for a time, a cold barren part of Scotland. Drive 6 miles to the north and you could paddle in the warm sea surrounded by palm trees at a place called Plockton

    i think the key to Bob's stories is they way he tells them. a lesser person could say 'when we were teenagers we wore some masks in public and the locals worried we were up to no good' and that would be believable but Bob makes an epic tale in it's retelling which makes it sound like fiction.

    The Gulf Stream is current of warm water that flows from the Gulf of Mexico across the Atlantic to Brittain ,it has the effect of making Brittains weather milder than other places on the same latitude ,always enjoy uour blogs ❤.

    • @johnnyuk3365
      @johnnyuk3365 Před 5 měsíci +4

      There is lot of scientific evidence that the strength of the gulf stream is reducing due to global warming and may disappear altogether over the next 100 years. That would then change Britain’s climate to that of Labrador in Canada, e.g -40C temperatures in winter and 2 metres of snow. Bob did the sensible thing searching it out when he was young.

    I believed him. I used to holiday regularly a few miles down the road in Creetown, Gatehouse of Fleet and Kirkcudbright over the years and the Gulf Stream thing is usually true apart from the other year when it switched for the first time that I can remember to bring below Britain and the weather was bloody awful until it moved back eventually. In the 1970s Billy Connolly partied that hard in Castle Douglas that he lost an entire weekend and used the story in his act for a time. You should have gone to Dumfries and Galloway whilst you were in Edinburgh, it's not that far and it's a great area to explore.

    Why wouldn't you wear a mask. I did it in 1985 driving in and around London wearing a werewolf mask and hairy hands once. I think my friends and I were going to a party. The reaction of other drivers when you stopped at traffic lights was hilarious. Definitely a one off as I had to take the mask off between junctions to be able to drive safely.
