    GLAD I FOUND THIS VIDEO! I just replaced an Infinity stereo on a 2000 Durango with an Alpine, and after doing this for over 45 years, THIS was the FIRST time I got NO SOUND after a head unit swap! Like you, I went online and found out the same thing; that the signal from the deck speaker wires FIRST go to the factory amp, THEN to the speakers! Well, I can NOT find even ONE wiring diagram that shows the exact same wiring colors as this 2000 Durango has, so I figured what I would have to do next would be to just run speaker wires from the Alpine to the speaker wires coming OUT of the factory amp. Makes sense to me. Until I saw your video! Now I'm going to take a second look! This Durango factory harness is a little different than yours looked but not much. There is a black plug and a grey plug. I never thought to look on the top of a factory deck for the wiring diagram! In fact, most factory stereos don't have this because the stereo was already hooked up at the factory and they assume you don't need to know how. But when I go back to finish this job, I'm FIRST going to look at the top of the factory stereo I took out to see if it has this diagram! OH, one question I didn't see in your video: after you connected that blue wire with the red one, did you then connect them both at the other end of the butt connector to the new deck's red wire? I'll let you know how this all works out, but you answered my question!!!

      @demboyzcustomsca5837 Před 5 lety +2

      actually I'm not trying to be a mr. Know it all but the correct correct way to install it would be on the back of the aftermarket radio it has a blue wire with a white line usually that's the remote wire for an aftermarket amplifier if you were putting a whole sound system in your car so rather than grouping them together and pulling power for the head unit and the factory amp off the same circuit you connect the red ignition wire to the red wire on the aftermarket head unit like you're supposed to and then you connect that solid blue wire from the harness to the remote wire on the back of the aftermarket stereo which then in turn does the same thing when you turn the car on the head unit comes on and then that remote wire on the back of your head unit sends a signal to the amp to turn on the same as if it would send the signal to an aftermarket amplifier

    • @demboyzcustomsca5837
      @demboyzcustomsca5837 Před 5 lety

      @@m0ney_mase50 basically you hook it up the same way he's doing but rather than hook the blue wire to the red wire like he did you hook the blue wire to the blue wire with a white line typically on the back of your aftermarket stereo which is also known as the remote wire

      @demboyzcustomsca5837 Před 5 lety

      @@m0ney_mase50 and also just a little bit of heads up I actually installed a stereo in one of these trucks last week with all of the proper aftermarket harnesses and everything and it did not work I basically had to end up just taking out and eliminating the stock amplifier so with that being said just keep in mind that it may not work.and as well believe it or not the comments are actually correct that's why some people say that it's working and some people are saying it's still not
