With these new power hungry GPUs, there's been a lot of confusion as to if you need a new PSU and what it brings to the table with it's ATX 3.0 & PCIe Gen 5 branding, along with the new native 12VHPWR connector, but what does it all really mean?

Thanks Andy this gave me a good insight to the new 3.0 spec. I have the 2000G+ from Evga and can get an adapter cable for it but this has me thinking that somewhere down the line I should look into a 3.0 unit but my current one will get me up and running
Seems Thermaltake is going to provide 6 models (from 750W to 1650W), large choices, but I guess, the sweet spot (because of the PCI 3.0 specs) is going to be the 850W.
But, one thing I'm wondering : are they 3.01 ? (using 4 spring connectors for the 12VHPWR connector(s) )
Thanks for the VDO, and the giveaway 😊

Can the PCIE Gen5 cable use on a RTX 4070ti super?
Do the ATX 3 certified power supplies also include a 12VHPWR to 8 pin PCIE cable? Just like you mentioned, AMD 7900 series still feature those 8 pins and it's a GPU I am looking to buy, however, I was planning on buying an ATX 3 power supply for future proofing when I would be upgrading my components in +5 years time.
I too am in the same boat and have the same question.

Great video, loving these in-depth reviews & explanations! I am about to build a new top of the range PC, which is as power efficient & future proof (each new generation of hardware upgrades requires more power) so it will at least outlast is 13yr+ warranty & 50% + bigger than I need.
So I want a TITANIUM rated 1,500W or 1,650W PSU which is fully ATX 3.0 (or newer 3.1) standard. Can you please recommend a brand & model that meets these requirements? Thanks!
Why in TF would you need a 1,500W PSU?
@@insanity4082 I have a 1600w PSU. If you run at under 50% capacity the energy efficiency is incredibly high, reducing your energy bills, whilst also running completely silently. And at the same time, they don't with 12 years plus warranty, so it can scale to upcoming hardware, as power demand will only go up and up with each generation of GPU & CPU.
You didn't answer the question in the title.
