as soon as Amethyst said she knew all the lyrics as soon as the song came out I just knew she was winning this.
Donât act like she killed it. I feel like she tries hard to be funny at the weirdest times. Neither slayed it. They were neck in neck I would have rather seen any of the other girls do this song.

im not gonna lie, irene was the last person i thought they would eliminate out of the other queens in the bottom. the producers gave her a lot of screen time, she has a strong relationship with mistress, and i thought it was obvious she was going to be one of the villians.

Props to Amethyst to showing a different side of herself in this lipsync! I felt like her talent show and her performance here showed two very different sides of her abilities. Very impressed.
She went from camp to boujie, live for her.
She was campy in both lipsyncs baby , she just did a split and some drag queen moves in the Ariana one.
The fact that amethyst can do a split to Ariana without making it look tired shows talent â

To quote a famous drag race winner- âtheres seven words in the chorus girlâ its an easy song to lip sync to. As an artist you should look at it like this to determine a lipsync winner; If theres a coffin around you, break out of it. Miss dubois was stuck in that coffin the whole lip sync.

There is only one âpick up,â and itâs a rap where you have to let them see you know the words. Itâs not a dance track, itâs not a park and bark, itâs not even a goofy goober. Itâs just⊠stale as a lip sync song and you have to create your own energy or you get washed away by the songâs âblah.â

Not gonna lie, I was not expecting Irene to go home first. It feels like she had a lot more to show and I wouldn't be surprised if they brought her back later in the season.
That lip sync from Amethyst is literally the best one you're gonna get to a song with this low of a tempo.
Then Salina lipsynced to "It's all coming back to me now" and things got interesting.

Looking back on it, why were they trying to make it look like this lip sync was close ? Amethyst hit every beat of the song and embodied it really well. Irene didnât even look like she knew every word
Amethyst killed it, I was thinking the same thing!! I think the production was trying to give Irene as much screen time as possible before she left.
I think the thing that sold it was amethystâs look it just worked so well for what she was trying to do and the song just worked for that look.

Irene unfortunately took too much of a risk with her talent choice, if she had just thought of which punchlines to hit within that short amount of time they were given it could have paid off. But for sure she is a prime of example of how one slip up can get you sent home. It shows in the comments and how everyone including me expected her to make it farther.

This is one of favorite technical lip syncs. They both know everything SYLLABLE from beginning to end.
Quick reminder that you don't have to make splits and crazy jumps to make a good lip-sync- this really wasn't as bad as yall say

I wasnât surprised about the outcome, Amethyst had a better talent show performance and she also delivered in this lip sync. Ireneâs talent show performance fell flat and although she was decent in this Amethyst earned her stay.

Irene is my favorite of the whole cast though so it was really sad and shocking to see her go I thought she would take the whole thing but it was just an unfortunate mistake. Such an iconic queen hopefully they bring her back in a future season đ€
Irene's talent show really robbed her of showing more of what she had to offer like even if she was amazing at the lipsync there was no coming back from that unfortunately. đ«€
Amethyst actually did so good she's really funny
Irene Dubois going home is one of if not the best moment/decision modern drag race has had/done. Hell, that two hour premiere was near perfect with the entrances, confessionals, talents, and even Irene having to sashay away. Because while there is uproar over their wasted potential and short run, no one is saying Irene didnât deserve to go home since her talent bombed. It was a fair decision, made even more since Irene was competing against all 15 queens unlike other premieres. And even that, she bombed because of a mistake, not because theyâre inherently unfunny (and production allegedly made it look much worse in post so who knows). When everyone at home realized that the queens, Irene specifically, wouldnât be given a safety net of random chocolate bars, split premiers, or random double shantays this season, even if they were stars or had the potential of going far, we knew this wasnât going to be a typical season of modern drag race and were enthralled.
And while Irene is getting the shorter end of the stick by being the one eliminated, they no doubt have gained massive amounts of attention because of their short run. She is an icon and this will not be the last time we see Irene Dubois and since they werenât able to show of all they have on the show, I bet more people are willing to go to her shows and bookings to see what we missed out on. Even production knew her star power, Irene had the most confessionals in the episode.
And for those who say Amethyst should of went home, 1) they were pretty evenly matched during the lip sync for your life and most importantly, 2) we are told why she stayed right at the beginning of the next episode. Her (past) relationship with Robin Fierce, not even I could pass up that free storyline.
I canât wait to see sugar vs spice yassss thatâs gonna be lit đ you know these producers about to do that soon for the gags mark my words
