  • Sculpted by water for millennia, the caves are a direct and aesthetic contact to the interior of the Earth, here some of the best and most beautiful and touristic caves in Mexico.
The caves are one of the strangest and most fantastic landscapes that nature offers. Cavities formed in the subsoil, in the form of tunnels and caves, caused by the filtration of water in the rock layers of the earth's crust. Thousands, and in some cases millions of years, of moving water tilling work results in these labyrinthine sites.
To be inside a cave is to smell the Earth as rarely, to feel its humidity from a shelter full of natural sculptures, it is one of the best contemplative experiences that exist. Mexico has 34 out of 36 ecosystems that exist, of course, it is also home to numerous caves as part of its vast menu of biodiversity.
We present you the 4 most incredible caves in Mexico that you must visit at least once.

Las Grutas de Cacahuamilpa - Guerrero
They are part of the Grutas de Cacahuamilpa National Park. In these amazing caves, there are more than 90 rooms open to the public, you will do a 2 km walk. The stalactites and stalagmites of the place are immersed in legends by the figures they form, from faces to imperious cathedrals. Framed in a forest of up to 2,700 hectares, it is a delightful combo in its aesthetics and climate.
Las Grutas de García - Nuevo Leon
Accidentally discovered in 1843, today they can be climbed by cable car, ascending 80 meters to travel through their cavities in a length of 300 meters. It has several rooms, beautiful suspended spiers come out of its ceilings. With strategically arranged lights, it is possible to carefully observe the caprice of the minerals carved by millennia of water passage. They were submerged under the sea for millions of years and even keep marine fossils in their walls. You can, if you choose the long route, walk for two hours through stalactites and stalagmites. Because of their huge rooms, they are even used for parties.
    Grutas de Tolantongo - Hidalgo
In addition to the beautiful caves, this place is famous for its natural stone pools of thermal waters. Organically coupled as in relief they are perfect to have a view of the site. In the place, in addition, there are waterfalls; a river, suspension bridge, and its incredible tunnel, which filters thermal water, reaches up to 38º and is a natural and beautiful sauna bath. In its caves, it is also possible to swim, with a beautiful frame of minerals falling like suspended stones, one of the few caves where it is possible to do this.
Grutas de la Estrella - Estado de México
Along paths, stairs and bridges, you will go through these caves where, in some of them, a peculiarity generates astonishment: like picture frames, some of the rocks are like “crushed” against the wall, making a kind of 3D view where the stalagtites frame others that are seen at depth through their holes. They are only 90 minutes from Mexico City. These caves are one of the attractions of the picturesque town of Tonatico in the State of Mexico. In these caves you will feel tiny and in another world.
