- Hey guys, this video is about La Plomera, an 8 second single cam civic. This car is sporting a Honda 1.6L D16 engine, built to take the world record. Their best pass so far is 8.87 on their second full pass in the car. The World record today is 8.74, so they are definitely in the right path.
This car was built by Eliezer Roman, and is driven by Mitchell Muniz "MAR Performance", who is well known in the sohc world for having the quickest sohc crx back in the day. This car is sporting Fueltech's Latest technology with a FT600 Fueltech and tuned by Jesus Melendez "Chupa Tech". The car was fabricated by the world famous Gato Performance and has one of the nicest turbo setups on a single cam.
A lot of people were involved in this project and its ready to come back to action soon.

I plan to run 50+ psi of boost and IF I can make my build stay together 950+BHP running UNDER 7 seconds and setting the record for my 1/4 mile and road course class.....I'm doing it for my cousin that died of opioid overdose 4+ years ago!!! RIP Kevin Howell!!!!!

That's almost unbelievable. Makes me want to do something with my 98 Civic LX. At least get a VTEC head w/springs, 5-8lb turbo 3776 cat-back. But it just sat since I got my CRV. Someone took my subs and amps and that was the best part about the Civic. I've always thrown a lot of money into the stereo not worrying about performance. If CZcams was around in the early 2000s it would have been a different story. I would have put thousands of dollars into the engine instead of the stupid stereo. But I had to hold the repetition of the hardest-hitting stereo in town. Except one stereo competition guy in a six-wheeled van. He could shatter windows at the mini mall.
I build break down would mean the world to the SOHC community.

im confused ive seen some b series do passes like a 8.0 or 8.1, do those have like 1600hp? or 2000?
The b series are in the 7.8 zone in Sfwd trim

what would this car do without a dog box (if the regular box would hold up)?
Ayson Baxter honestly these guys have been testing and working with single cams for a long time. One of the weak points of a d series is the trans. I have a friend that had a low to mid 10 second single cam on a factory transmission and he breaks it all the time. And he’s only at about 500 whp. At the power level these guys are at, with 700+ they would be wasting their time on a non re enforced transmission.

Cars actually sitting at 8.5s as of recent and is planning on racing this weekend, so it could possibly dip lower into the 8s. And he’s racing in the Sfwd class which limits him to certain restrictions for the class. That makes this car that much more impressive
@@FlakoPics how is that car in the sfwd class... i thought those cars were at a 2400lb minum this car weighs every bit of 2100... hmmm
maybe he has the si model that weighs like 2350 and then the cage would add extra weight
