    I was using one of the BlackBurn frame bag on my road bike 😆. Great packability, but maybe a little bit heavy. Nevertheless, it managed to convince & made me a huge fan of frame bags!

    Thanks for the video! Just making my template for my Bridge Club!
    What was measured where it says 105mm, 95mm and 125mm? I really don‘t get it… 😅
    Thanks!

    Amazing timing! I was about to order one today and it was very helpful to get the q factor and bag width information. I've got SRAM force 1x with 145mm q factor so I'm guessing I probably can't go wider than a 5cm bag.
    Just curious how close did you make your cardboard template to the frame? Was it flush or did you leave a small gap?
    Also which fabric type did you pick?

      I left one or two millimetres between the cardboard and the frame, I find that the fabric can “adapt” to small inaccuracies. The fabric is X11 mountain brown 🙌🏽

    Very good and informative video. I’m currently considering buying a Stingray bag. Can you tell me what material the brown bag is?

      Having now read the comments below, I can see that this has already been answered.

    I just recently bought a 2023 Surly Bridge Club in frame size Large I am curious what size frame your Bridge Club is because as you stated a cardboard template is required and needs to be sent to Alpkit i have decided after watching this video about 10 times that the bag you ordered is exactly what I was thinking of ordering so then if you have already sent in a template would it be possible to reference the size and configuration when I make an order to them I ? I have tried to send you an email but for some reason it doesn't seem to work thank you

      Hello ! My frame is also Large. I configured the main part as two pockets with a horizontal openings, the size of the pockets was arbitrary, I divided them more or less at the middle. The fabric, I chose the only one available on that color (brown). I added a document pocket on the opposite side. I chose the widest option available at the time (if I’m not mistaken it’s 6cm) I think that’s all for the specs 🤓 I hope it helps !

    looks like you are not doing long distance on this bike. But where do you keep the water bottles instead?

    • @bicyclepicnic

      Hi, I’m actually on a 10 days tour now. I’m using a 2l “camelback” + a 1l bottle attached to the bottom of the diagonal tube. It works great. I see a lot of people doing that for off road cycling. For more traditional touring on long adventures maybe the “classic” configuration ( rear and front panniers + water inside the frame) is more practical… 🤔

    I may be wrong but it seems to me that the handlebar is different from the video where you presented the bike; what model is it?

    • @bicyclepicnic
      @bicyclepicnic  Před 11 měsíci +1

      That’s right ! this one is a Surly Terminal, it’s lighter more comfortable than the Nitto I had before

    where do you put water when bikepacking?

    • @bicyclepicnic
      @bicyclepicnic  Před 11 měsíci +4

      Hi ! I can put a litter bottle under the diagonal tube + a 2L camel bag for long trips. For day rides I just put a bottle inside the framebag and I still have room for a jacket, an inner tube, etc…

      I have a GT Peace rigid 29er which is about 10 years old. I put a water bottle handlebar clamp on the bike. The Revelate bag installed in the main triangle allows me to carry more water, and remove a jacket or leg warmers on those days when it's 45-50 degrees F in the morning, and increases to 65-70 degrees F by 10 or 11 in the morning. The GT only has one water bottle mount, so moving the water bottle to the handlebar was no loss in capacity, and now I can carry more water. I use this bike for multi-use paths and gravel riding, so the frame bag gives me more than enough room to carry what I need.
