    I went with a (MYOG/DIY) custom roll top, full frame bag. While I am not a MYOGer, I borrowed my moms sewing machine and complied ideas/designs from the other makers and sewed one up for my hardtail. I've already identified some improvements for version 2, but it gets the job done well at a fraction of the cost (and wait time).

    impressed by the price of this custom bag, not even super expensive. I don't run a custom bag but I got lucky that my Topeak Midloader 4,5L fits perfectly my road bike Giant frame. Will definitely consider custom for my next/final bike

    Love my RP half frame bag. I went for the lace-up option and I use elastic shock cord so I can tuck small things like gloves or a light rain shell into the lacing on the top tube. The bag stays secure and tight to the frame even fully loaded.

    Currently waiting to receive my three new bags from Rogue Panda. I went with them because a) their branding is minimalist and stylish, b) they had my Surly Ogre pattern already so no messing around with tape measures and c) they can make my bags in CAMO!

    As I've mentioned a million times in many different places, if you love your bike, get a custom bag from your favorite maker. Quite likely, it'll be better built and lighter (not to mention having custom stuff you want) than an off-the-rack bag. I know people continually complain about the price of hand made bags but they often take a couple of days to make + materials. In the end, you'll likely get many years of use out of them (I've got bags I've made and used for nearly 10 years). Yes, I've make bags... in fact, Neal has reviewed them.

    Got a custom TimTas bag because I ride a 66cm frame and wanted a bag that would fit around the framepump and two water bottles. So it's a bit like a half-frame bag with some bulges in places where there's room but still 5.5L of volume.

    Ok so there is one thing I miss completely: why on earth the main zipper is on the drive side, while most people dismount their bikes on the other? For me it would be natural to make it easier to access the inside after I've stopped. I think there must be some reasoning for it, as I have a bag from the other company that has similar feature, I just don't get it. Is it designed to be more accessible while riding? But it would be hard enough to reach anyway, so that I only put stuff I need off the bike there. Maybe you can help me, why's that?

    • @ploegdbq
      @ploegdbq Před 3 lety +4

      Most folks lay their bikes on the ground with the drive side up, so it's best to have main compartment access on the drive side. If you need something while on the road, it's best to store such items in a cockpit-mounted bag or a top-tube bag, or order your frame bag with a side pocket on the nondrive side.

    • @rnghwdbcs
      @rnghwdbcs Před 3 lety

      @@ploegdbq I always thought most folks try to lean their bikes on something, instead of laying them on the ground, and in this case access to main zipper is usually blocked by the thing you've leaned your bike on. As of the things I need during the ride that was kinda my point, I don't want them stored in the frame bag anyway.

    • @JaccoSW
      @JaccoSW Před 3 lety +1

      @@rnghwdbcs I thought the ame thing but still ordered mine with the zipper on the NDS. Turns out it's much easier to go through your bag if the bike leaning against you and you look at it from above when you don't have anything to lean it on. Then again, you could always order a custom bag with zippers on both sides!

    I’ve been a long time Rogue Panda customer. I think they’ve made me 3 or 4 full frame bags in the last 5 or 6 years. My most recent order was a little disappointing and turned me off from them though. The fabric on my top tube bag and half frame bag was faded real bad like it was left in a window and sun damaged and the half frame bag wasn’t even close to fitting properly and looked utterly ridiculous. In their defense, they paid for the return and reshaped it to where it’s a perfect fit now. With so many other custom bag makers out there, I would look at other options. I think Rogue Panda may have gotten a little too popular and let their quality slip.

    • @roguepandadesigns
      @roguepandadesigns Před 3 lety +2

      We do occasionally make mistakes - we're glad you contacted us about it so we could fix it! We did change how PandaVision works behind-the-scenes in the past year, so we had a slightly higher rate of frame bag sizing issues while we went through that learning curve. Now we know when mistakes tend to happen in our new process and how to minimize them. What fabric was your bag made of? We protect all our fabrics from sun exposure pretty well so we're curious...

    So that when You tube channels convince you of the need to replace your bike rather than upgrade it to keep up with latest "technological advances' You will have to buy another custom frame bag to fit your new bike and noone will want your "old bike or its bespoke frame bag". So your bank account is emptied by the bike and bike accessories industry. Yet again. 😊❤
