Fun fact, DE comes from French or Spanish translation for the word from. So CQ DE N0SSC means Calling Anyone *from* N0SSC. “This is” is also correct, but just in case anyone wonders why it’s DE.
Fun fact
Yep, exactly.
Great videos! Loving this "Words you should know" series as a CW newbie.
Awesome. Glad you're enjoying them.
Excellent real world useful info. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Loving this little series as a cw newbie. Great info!! TU es 73
Welcome aboard!
Excellent video again for new activators and chasers Kyle. Also in the row of GM/GA/GE belongs a GD or "good day". Used quite a lot if you're not sure about the local time. For a thinking pause also the "break" symbol is used a few times "dah-di-di-di-dah".
Thanks. I'll add those for the next round
thank you
Thank you
Good stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it
One that I'm hearing more lately for some reason is "fer" as in TU FER MA thank you for Massachusetts. Confused me at first.
That might make it in the next one!
Four more. FB OM PSE CPY
Lol
The original meaning of DE in cw is 'from' ... not 'this is' ...
Thanks
I disagree with AGN? The question mark is confusing, because you are basically asking "shall I say this again?" I would rather recommend PSE AGN instead, meaning "please again". Now you are clearly asking for something to be sent again... 73 de HA7RJA - Rob
Thanks for the comment. I can see it both ways, as I've heard it sent to me both ways.
I have heard the request for repeat in several manners. Sometimes just "?" or RPT? RST? NAME? OP? QTH? TOWN? also RPT or AGN with or without the question mark. If I've just sent RST & state, I would assume that just a "?" or AGN means to repeat both. In a rapid QSO setting, operators are looking for efficient exchange vs casual QSO setting. I just return same info that the POTA station sends me. DE K5AVJ
