Spongebob for Playstation? Yes there is this one game. It is Patrick's birthday, and SpongeBob wants to give him "the best present ever": a photo signed by his favorite superheroes, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. However, the heroes want nothing more than to get rid of SpongeBob, so they keep sending him to random tasks around Bikini Bottom.Finished the game with all bonus levels unlocked and bought all presents for Patrick. -

Wow this hurts man. I was in 1st grade playing this and remember every level and song. 20 years later I’m 26 realizing how time flew. It’s a weird joy and sadness when you think about the times you had little to no responsibilities during childhood.
Same age, been feeling the same way!
I was 10 when I played this game simpler times indeed
Same
Sameee
played this over and over again since my memory card went through the washing machine and i had to start fresh every time, it was my saturday night ritual for a time
Imagine if you had to go through all this trouble to get your best friend a birthday present
Spongebob really loves Patrick so much that's why he did it =)
that's what best friends are for
I beat this game as a little kid. My first game I ever beat. Let's just say I was disappointed with The ending. I guess I thought I would of have gotten to go to Hollywood or something idk..
Woah ikr
@Oshabot 16 ok but how is that relevant. Your mom is cancer get noobed!
This game feels like a fever dream. I have a very fragmented memory of playing this when i was really little. Probably around the time I was starting to "gain consciousness"
Exact same here, such a strange feeling to look back on this game
Same. Remember going to some weird game store with my mom to get it.
Same, I just remember one day my mom rented this for me out of the blue and I don't remember a damn thing about this game other than it existing
I worked on this game.@@DrEarthwormRobotnik
Spongebob,
It's called a 'general store.'
Seriously, no need to go to the pits of HELL to get some ingredients.
Siontix but hell was all the craze back in the day.
jayden1209 is a guy heh
Yeah, but that's too easy! Spongebob needs to prove himself to Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy!
@@Doobie-kx8fk Especially with Um Jammer Lammy.
I loved Tom Kenny’s vocal performance in this game, he made all of SpongeBob’s lines a joy to hear.
This game is so underrated, in my opinion. The soundtrack is great, too.
Soundtrack sounds unbelievable like bfbb brought me here
Yeah I know. This is a very well-made platformer for a cartoon character. It made me want to buy a bunch of other SpongeBob games.
Yeah, great Amiga soundtrack.
The soundtrack is soooooo DAMN good every time I hear that intro I get goosebumps.
@naruto uzumaki
The soundtrack sounds like something from the Amiga computers of the mid 80's to early 90's.
I know it's probably not that, but still.
Nostalgia to the max

do you know the Secret?
That second level in Sandy's tree house used to send me over the fucking edge when I was a kid. I remember throwing literal tantrums because I'd keep dying. That memory is what led me to this video actually, I wanted to see how many of the levels I remembered and if Sandy's tree house was actually hard. It is, in fact, not hard at all and I was just ass at the game lmao.
Me too ohmygosh
SAME!!! JUST CAME HERE TO REMEMBER MY FRUSTRATION
Man i thought i was the only one lol
Same 🤣 I remember being so pissed but I was literally just 3
lol same, for some reason it took me days to figure out that you needed to go in the water to stay alive. The light bulb turned on in my head when I watched the episode where spongebob visits sandy's tree dome for the first time lol
this is the first ever spongebob game for console
sure is sean
Released in November 5th, 2001
And the first handheld one, Legend of the Lost Spatula, was released just months prior, on GBC.
Michael Echeverria he didn't say supersponge was the first, he said legend of the lost spatula was the first.
No the golden spatula was first. Then this game out for the psx and game boy advance.
Not gonna lie, the first boss presentation scared me when i was a child.
Me as a kid playing: *just minding my own business*
Game: HEY CHECK OUT THIS JELLYFISH, ITS GOING TO KILL YOU
@@daboyz2374 That’s the most peaceful boss theme I’ve ever heard
I remember playing this game. The sad part was that this game came out near the end of the ps1's lifecycle. I still have it! After all these years, I still have it.
Technically the PS1’s life cycle didn’t end until 2005 but after 2001 it was all mainly sports games so i get what you meant.
@@ThatOldSchoolMagic yeah, but they should’ve made it a PS2 title. That system was already over a year old by that point.
@@ThatOldSchoolMagic actually 2006 is where ps1 production ended. It was 5 years until it’s discontinuation.
@@jakighcolburnchannel3584 I think making it a PS1 title made more sense. For a game like this, there would be no benefit in the better technology of the PS2, and you would be locking out a huge part of your demographic. You can still perfectly play PS1 on PS2, after all. Point is: which child loved SpongeBob AND owned a PS2 back in 2001?
Fun Fact:
The Game Boy Advance version was in development longer than the PlayStation version.
This version also had a LOT of early prototype builds, most of which I believe have been archived on CZcams.
I know both versions have prototypes, and I do believe this version had the most.
Look them up.
They actually are really interesting.
The gba version released 3 days later.
Probably because it hade to be made to a cartridge.
Yes, that is correct.
And yet the GBA version feels more like a beta version than the PS1 version
Old health system, some unused music, almost unfinished looking tiles, shorter (and worse) music, etc.
I remember this being SO hard! Me and my friend loved this game, we would take turns playing but we never beat it lol
Same!!!!🤣

My first PS1 game!! This and Spyro 2. Oh, man, what a great memory, the nostalgia ❤️
tom kenny was all over your ps1 it seems lmao
Tom Kenny came all over your ps1
Funny how just an hour ago I played these two games back-to-back since I got a PS1 memory card to use on my PS2
This SpongeBob game never gets old. Rest in peace Stephen Hillenburg (1961-2018) The world’s number one creator of SpongeBob SquarePants
I'm getting a real Sonic vibe from the spatula loss, and "drowning"
Not to mention the graphics look like a Sega Genesis game. Maybe this game was inspired by Sonic?
Probably. Hmm, I wonder if this could be hacked into a sonic-esque game. I have no idea, but it was really similiar when I was playing it on my PS3 (just figured out that I can play PS1 games in the PS3)
TheVividYoshi and??
Thq should've released the console version on PS2 because by the time THQ released on PS1 in America it was a year since the PS2 was released. Unless THQ didn't have the 128 Delevopers kit.
Sonic is in Smash. Inklings will also be in Smash, likely with Sonic again. One time, there was a Spongebob-themed Splatfest in Splatoon. Sonic and Spongebob are linked!
I feel so emotional seeing this for the first time after 10 years
Thank you so much for showing dialogues. Now that I speak English fluently, I see this game in a whole new context and manner, save for the songs, which I enjoy even more.
same, when i was a child i just wished i could understand lol
Yeah, playing games as a kid and not able to read yet made things... Interesting. A lot of trial and error and accidentally doing the thing you need to do.
@@mitzyglitzy7078all the freaking time, especially the final boss, that weird and odd Iron Dog Fish. It took me many tries to discover how to defeat it. 😊
i remembered when i was younger and played this game i thought the lufa was a penut
It's a shame how Mr. Krabs's real voice actor isn't used in these games.
+Sergeant Sunflower He's far too good for Spongebob games. I'd argue he's too good for Spongebob in general.
I always wondered why Mr. Krabs sounded different from the games when I was growing up... yes, I grew up with Operation Krabby Patty and Employee of the Month on PC, I was that a fanatic at the time.
+Sergeant Sunflower It wasn't until the Spongebob Squarepants movie, where the original voice actor got to participate during development.
+Alejandro Sandoval first it was revenge of the flying Dutchman, then the movie game, then it was lights, camera, pants.
+Lûïgî Mañ 602 you left out the best one (battle for bikini bottom)
This game kicked ass.
so underrated.
No! This Game
Is So Cute
And Is Happy Game For Spongebob
Squidward being annoyed on his only day off has always stuck with me lol
This is the first videogame I've ever played. I rememeber playing it when I was 4 years old. Time flies man.
THQ shall never be forgotten...
Ommmfggggggg I just found this game on accident somehow and remembered that I got this game wghen I was a little kid, I got tears in my eyes. I asked my parents for this game when I saw it in a shop and they both said no but as we arrived homed, the suddenly got it out their pockets and surprised me with it, I remember playing it when I woke up ommmgggggg I wanna cry hahahahahah
Oh, my god, nostalgia, this was the first game I played on a PlayStation system. Easily one of the greatest video games ever made for a cartoon series.
So much memories with this game. I remember playing this game at my grandmas home. Such a heating feeling,
"Welcome to the salty spittoon. How tough are you?"
How tough am I!? I beat this entire game!
"Yeah, so?"
Without any memory cards.
"Yeah, so?"
*When I was four...*
It amazes me how well this game got older, the designs look cool and is a good platform game , is good that they used things from the actual show to make Power Ups and Levels, that shows how the designers knew what they where doing
The only downside that i saw even as a kid was
THE BOSSES ARE TOO DAMN EASY, they dont have a real pattern or an special way to hurt them, is definetly the lowest point of the game just maybe on part with the "plot"
I thought the bosses were pretty challenging, cept for the final boss which is upsetting imo
This game has some sweet tunes! I remember playing it a lot when I was younger!
Yeah, thats one thing Ill give this game, it sounds like Spongebob.
The nostalgia is killing me, mostly the voice acting.
Man...the memories I had playing this game it's...just...been so long!
I had this game. It took me about an hour and fifteen minutes to complete it. The ending is nice and simple, considering what you went through for Patrick in the game.
BB: One of my favorite kelp bars would be great. Hey kid, you can only get them in Bikini Bottom!
goes all the way to Rock Bottom to get them instead
As a kid I was so terrified of that game over sequence I never played the game after the third or fourth time of seeing it.
So Spongebob uses a time machine to go back in time to collect some items and somehow Sandy and Patrick are there to give us a new ability and some bubbles.
That makes perfect sense, 10/10.
I remember I used to own this instead of Battle for Bikini Bottom, and I used to be so mad lol. Finally now in 2019, I rebought a PS2 and Battle for Bikini Bottom, I can finally play it.
Wow! wow! wubbzy!
Ahhh, my first video game.
The memories.
Insane how relevant Spongebob still is as if it’s no more than 10 years old but in reality Spongebob games were being made as far back as the PS1… that blows my mind.
I love mr krabs's voice in the PS1 version of "supersponge"
I would've fucking thrown the game in the lake if I were you at 31:24, I did actually like this game though
31:25 it is at this moment that he knew he fucked up.
😂😂. That used to piss me off so much. You go through all that damn work to get all the spatulas, then you finally get to the end relieved and then a damn critter taps you and you lose everything.
Soooo nostalgic! Anyone still here watching this at the end of 2021??
this takes me back... back to the past.
Damn that’s some memories right there. I remember the disc was black and white. Underrated game
Man when I remembered me playing the stage on 18:41 I remembered that this was the first game I played on my life :D
Oh man the nostalgia is so good but it is sad because the old times are gone :(
Zangetsu276 the old times wher the best
you know what they say, don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened
Yeah and now it's replaced with the stupid crap
Probably the best song in the entire game tbh. Man, it's crazy that this was so long ago...
Oh the nostalgia, IT BURNS!!
Nostalgia just slapped me right across the face. I really want to play this game again! It was so much fun!!!!
Man, I had this game as a kid and I've completely forgotten it even existed. It has a certain charm to it and the music is spectacular. I really want to play it again now, especially since small brain, six year old me couldn't get passed the caverns.
I like how the game introduced the characters using different episodes
Who play this game in our childhood. WE DID :)
lol i had to get this at play n trade
i did.
I do but only GBA version.
I do but only GBA version.
+GHOSTx FUNK562x I played and I beat it, though I couldn't save since I used my PS2 to play it, so when I had to take a break (bed, dinner, etc) I just kept it on and turned off the screen.
You know its legendary when people from 7-9 years ago are calling it nostalgia.
That’s because this game is from 2001.
I literally just a few seconds ago remembered this game. I got it for Christmas right after 9/11 when I was in fifth grade! I played it a bunch of times but somehow I forgot all about it! Now I'm remembering everything about it as I watch and it's hitting me in the feels. How could I have forgotten all about this?!?!?
I heard it’s final build was made after 9/11
The first ever PS1 game I've ever played as a kid and the first 2D platformer I've played as a kid.
Legends never be forgotten
Thanks for this! I loved this game so much when I was a kid! Played it so much on PS1.
I love the ost of this game, And honestly the game development is honestly probably the weirdest thing about it
This is the definition of nostalgia, seriously I played this on gab with the 4 pak. Freeze frame frenzy and this were my favorites.
Aside from some slippery control issues, I loved this little gem^_^ And that music! Fits the series so well!
Yeah it sounded so nautical
This game was legendary
I am just going back to old games I played as a kid. This brings back so many memories !
I hope they paid the composer well, the sound track is great!!!
Funny, Mr. Krab's voice actor is not his that it is in the actual TV show. Ironically, almost all of the other voice actors are correct.
squidward sounds off too
NinjaboySC It's because Clancy brown demands more money than the other voice actors, ironically enough
That's not ironic
@@guacamolenightmaretv7720 Why do people not know how to use "ironic"?
I went out and bought a ps1 last year just so I could play this game the way it should be played again. Oh the nostalgia.
This brings back wicked nostalgia! I used to play this all the time when i was a kid
NOSTALGIA OVER INFINITY!!!!!
anything over infinity is 0
I remember this game. I was glad at first reminding myself of it but now all I can think of is pure hatred lol I never got past the third lvl!
Wow I was 8 when I beat this game
Flying Dutchman boss actually gave me nightmares as a child. The way he appeared up outta nowhere. Screwed me up
This is pure nostalgia, I’ve tried to find this game everywhere
I cried this was the game i played the most in my childhood ;-; when i finished i reset cuz i liked it so much :/ memories ... i feel old now :3
I actually had this game when I was little. I think I had more fun watching older episodes of the show, though ^^;
First 2 seasons are the best, got 'em on DVD
I remember when me and my brother played this on our ps1 and it attracted a bunch of neighbor kids playing outside to watch on our window. Good o'l days
Apparently Spongebob never considered just going the store to get the things Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy asked for. You ever wanted a sandwich and you had to travel across the entire town to get each ingredient?
Oh god I remember this game... I think I still have it
lucky. i lost the game :(
i miss this game so much.
MrLedhed123 I still have it but I don't know where my ps1 is? Now I have a ps4
Hardcore Duckling same :'(
I wonder if they still sell this game these days
oddcat yes they do online or certain stores
This game totally belongs in sega genesis/mega drive library
The whole game without dying, good job fam👍👍👍
I need this game again. So many memories
Amé este juego cuando era niño :'3 Me trae buenos recuerdos
:Sure brings back memories!: :D
I loved this game as a kid!
Brings back memories I used to play this when I was 9 years old!! I still miss it!!
Oh my childhood
eyy, tht bonus stage nnear the ending where gary follows u, i never get to get that! but love the soundtrack for the many levels
Me and my cousin used to straight up suffocate on our laughter at this game, seriously, the amount of hours we spent laughing our asses off taking turns playing this is unreal
For some reason, I always remember this game giving off a creepy vibe. A lot of ps1 games did that to me
Probably the visual effects
the music is sooou spongebob and thats a good thing ! ;D
I've remade some of these levels in Super Mario Maker 2.

Juego de mi infancia, fui muy adicto a este juego cuando era niño :')
¿Viste los archivoa del juego que tienen imagenes cochinas?
I played this game super young and remember this vividly somehow
One of the best (and hardest) games I've ever played.
Oh god memories
Strange enough the GBA port of this is very almost identical. I think the only difference is the sound.
Ehh not really, they look pretty different tbh. Both use different graphic styles
I reckon the GBA port is so bastardized that it's not really not worth it.
Phvrvoh Phonk I suppose I should say the level design is almost identical.
JamPox101 and also there's a lack of voice acting
@@BooTeresa1006 It's not too different. I owned the GBA version as a kid, and from what I hear the controls are different compared to the PS1 version. It controls a lot stiffer, but it's managable. It also has a different heath system. You have a heath meter that you replenish with food instead of the spatulas serving as your heath like in Sonic.
I remember playing this on my dad's PlayStation. Good memories 🥹❤️
The squid and worms would infuriate me when I had to lose all the spatulas lol loved this game!
