🧏‍♂️ I'm pretty sure that he was referring to the carb tuning, and NOT the
2stroke oil / fuel mixture ratio.
So, if his carbs are adding too much fuel, and that's the the way his motor is running too rich, then there "IS" something wrong with that, and he will want to retune his carburetor.
Otherwise, if it was running too rich because there was too much 2stroke oil in his fuel,...(although it won't hurt his engine) it won't help his engine's performance, and so he will probably want to fix that, too ! 🤷‍♂️

You can practically ride it in 3rd gear everywhere and it never sounds like you're giving it more than a quarter throttle, but you're still ripping. @saltybastard9037 Před 2 lety +4

@@ituksw The 700 definitely has much more torque down low, and up to 5000rpms, but then it runs of steam. A 500 revs much faster and further out. In a drag race, the 700 will definitely be easier to launch, given the extra torque (and less clutch work). BUT if you're on a 500, and you're good at starts, you can reel in the 700.

@@PNW_Car_Mods I have a 440 Maico, and I'll tell you my 250 from the same era is WAY more scary to ride. Maicos are smooth and predictable, especially the big ones. Very refined porting with a smooth predictable build-up, and LOTS of weight in the crank to keep power going to the ground and not spin up too fast. The newer ones (83+) are a bit more edgy but still whipped cream compared to a CR500. Meanwhile my 250 is a total Jekyll and Hyde murder machine.

ATK did import these maicos and grind off the maico name yes. newer Zabels since 2000is are 4 speeds, in the 90s they were 5 speeds. Essentially with Maicos, they keep removing 1st gear. So an 83 Maico had a lower first gear but then in like 86, they basically moved 2nd gear to 1st gear through changing the primary drive. Then Zabel took the Maico engine in 90s, in 2000, they just removed Maicos' 1st gear and 2nd became their first. They have a lot of torque and for the racing they decided they never needed first so they kept removing it.

I was a HEWA-MAICO Rider. HEWA means Hermann Walgenbach. This germann Genius was preparing Maicos to it’s best and the Maico Factory allowed him to sell those bikes not as Maicos but as HEWA-MAICOS. Hermann not only tuned them, but also was present on many races to support us riders. Thank you Hermann!!

I'm really glad you got the full house with lights and a charging system ..as they only make one frame and one engine all handle the same and same power ..and like you said with the extra motocross fenders and plastic .
It's truly an all purpose street , gncc, and Moto machine all in one ..that makes this bike happen for all times...just now a thought ..most likely your team has one of those eliminated flex scopes to snake down the spark plug hole for now and just for reference document pictures of the insides of the cylinder as it is today and then occasionally after also and keep on track of the appearance inside the cylinder wall and piston wear ... Without taking anything apart As it shouldn't ever have any problem anyway that this thing's too precious and it would be really on top of it if you see even one little scratch starting anywhere on the exhaust side or whatever... recheck your oil/fuel mix .
You guys seemed to like a 32 to 1 ratio ..make sure the brand and mix ratio for each brand .
As there are viscosities on the synthetic racing oil and sometimes you can get too much. I don't know what it's called today but bback in the 70$ and eighties it was Yama lube R that I swear Kaplan when we pull The jug off of 125 to look in and see if there's anything left we have a perfect piston and cylinder like it came out of the box no carbon deposits on it at all I mean it was bone clean.
the bell Ray we smoke them up a little bit and leave some carbon now after so many weeks running and you canexpected a little bit of carbon arounf the edges of exhaust port but there was nothing like that first yamalube R it's changed apartment since we used it.
it's thinner that used to be it used to be like#90 weight gear oil of it is pretty thin now so you can't rely on the ratios we were using this I'm just worried about your bike that's all I hate to ever even hear that anything got even close to being stuck and that testing extra cylinder that you got with it looks like some kind of really exotic stuff I like to get in and find out what the metallurgy is all about that as it was Honda in 2006 developed a high pressure extrusion die casting system for their Honda Civic 4-stroke car engines pistons that were 6% less friction than anything else and being high pressure diecast means it's like 50,000 PSI or whatever they force aluminum that's almost cold enough to set up into my mouth that's basically just knocks us rough edges off of it and install it it doesn't need any machine hardly and die casting and it has the properties of a forest piston with the properties of a cash piston that doesn't swell as much as Force and I'm just guessing but I bet those terms are the ones figure that out in the first place and that's probably what you have already and if so we need to figure out a way to get those kind of fishes aftermarket for all your rebuilds and advertise it so as you'd be the only one that would be doing it dealerships around here in the Midwest they could give a s*** less about dirt bikes and stuff like that that was just playing on the floor and no details yeah here it is it's much money and that's about all they'll tell you you've already got all the dirt bike I stirred up with all the details you go through and just like right now explain all about this makeup we've never had known or ever had a chance to see anything like that it wasn't for you I got to go
Just saying it'd be nice to document that everything trying to read the plug or whatever you said she's a little bit Rich you're wanting to lean it out careful careful careful careful this thing's is pure unobtainium from planet Pandora where they had to get special permission to dig the richest ore from under home tree thanks to Navi who apparently sponsored this build .
... So this settles it I got to make a pilgrimage to Kaplan cycles... And swing by and see the boys at Williamsport Honda in Pennsylvania thats just south of you not too far ... That's really not out of my way at all from terre Haute to your house and it shows one alternate route going right through twins farting and heading up the East Coast to your house ... He was Williamsport Honda who had this mirage orange Pearl 2009 xr1200 I'm riding ., We traded keys and I get in the keys to a 2017 African twin and they gave me the keys to this Harley I got today and not a dime difference either way no money just traded and at a Honda shop is that..
I was really disappointed in the African is this great on the asphalt just don't get on a dirt road and try to maneuver it acts like it wants to go anywhere you can but where you want it to and I knew if I dropped it that'd be the end of any trade value and they made the deal over the phone cuz they were out of everything and they're mostly a dirt bike shop with a lot of clubs I guess for guys together they had a market for that after the twin and that Harley had been sitting there over a year on consignment from the bank as it was a repo so it was for two fools met and I get my Honda and they give me the Harley and I'm not regretting it neither are they so I got to go show them my lastest mods.. one of these two and a half pound nitrous oxide bottles strapped on the rear left side of the frame made by OBX racing

You got to genuine NOS solenoids made by Holley ... I'll call the cheater for the main Nos solenoid ...and I have a dollar power shot for the purge solenoid with two turned up Nos Purge nozzles . Switches mounted on the handlebars for Purge and horn button I'm going to use the horn button to set off the Nos ... I've already got an AEM air fuel ratio meter in a polished gauge pod on the handlebars along with a Marlins head temperature gauge and a mounted arming switch with a aircraft safety toggle to mount and wire it up and go fill the Nos bottleband it's ready
... I'm going to try to get that done as soon as I can make a pilgrimage stopping off at Williamsport Honda and head up your way..and I'm not going to ask to ride the maico so don't worry about it .. please don't offer me to it would be really tempting that I really don't I just can't do it that things and it's it's the god of dirt bikes and it's just yours it it'd be bad luck for me to start it
.. I wouldn't mind taking a little ride with you around to the local roads you know of and get some video on my smartphone of you doing some power wheelies off my xr1200 NOSTER street tracker.... Got to go on an hour south and Terra right now heading back to town and it's getting cold talk at you later

I have never had the chance to ride a open class Big Bore two-stroke. I'm 58 and I would still jump on one in a heartbeat and try to not let adrenaline put me in the hospital! I love 2 Strokes. Four strokes are cool also but two strokes will always be my favorite. 1974 Honda CR125 Elsinore ripping down the dirt road in front of my house when I was 10 years old left a huge impression! And when I walked out to the dirt road and saw the destruction it had left behind with the lingering smell that I would later discover was castor oil, I knew this was like nothing anybody had ever seen before! It looked like a plow had dug up the road. Lifelong roostertail addiction was about to begin.
